  1. To me this is giving Bate and Dunn a chance to salvage something out of the year and their careers. The pressure is on.
  2. I don't get this. I can understand believing that there is life without Tom Scully, because there is... But I don't understand the "if we keep him, then that is bad" brainstamp... I like the MFC. Footy flags are won with gun players. I want the MFC to win a flag. Tom Scully is a gun player. I would like to keep him. Or alternatively, I would like to use the compo we get for him to get a gun player. Nowhere in that is "we keep gun player, damin it!"
  3. I agree that they have extra money to throw around but let's say they have ten extra kids - at around $80k each. That's $800k...
  4. They were destined for that flak, and would get it, whether Tom got out there are constantly took his own 'flak.' They are not going to suddenly not ask these questions of Tom's teammates if Tom is there to ask, because they are different questions.
  5. Wham!
  6. rpfc is an enigma...
  7. I believe that FS nominations and bids come before trade week, therefore you cannot trade away the pick that 'won' that bid. That is my understanding.
  8. Not true. The question to Tom wouldn't be "Do you think you are telling the truth?" It would be "Are you telling the truth?" I know what the anser would be, and so do you. So what is the point of asking a question when you already know the answer?
  9. Who knows? Maybe Tom's influence contributed to Nathan showing his commendable consistency this season...
  10. Whether or not Scully 'copped' more flak, Jack would still be asked about his opinion on Tom. I understand some see Tom not getting out in public and doing another presser is him deflecting the spotlight onto his fellow teammates but I see his absence as some fuel that he is not going to throw on the fire. The guys are going to get those questions, it would just be a bigger bonfire with Tom out there. Another area I disagree with the club on - I don't think another Tom presser would be helpful. The next time he should talk at length on his contract would be in September and he should be in red and blue or in plain clothes.
  11. Yes, but because we have already committed to taking him, clubs will make sure we use our first pick. It is in their interest for us to use our first pick on Jack Viney. Pure game theory.
  12. rpfc is above emoticons...
  13. He may be introverted when it comes to public attention and having a twitter account, but that doesn't mean he is an introvert at the club, nor does it mean that he cannot influence those around him with the way he goes about his footy. Nathan Jones felt this way before Tom had played a game.
  14. I agree that hwe has only the two offers to think about. I disagree that he has to do it now. He has always maintained he will decide in September. As tiresome as Blucher's "in between training sessions" meme can be, to decide now would be giving in to the pressure and he should hold steadfast to what he has said all along. And it makes it look like all he cares about is the cash - as he signs once our offer got high enough. He can wait, and so can we. I don't see the issue, if this is a distraction for the club then they need more help than I thought. 1. The players shouldn't worry about this, if Colin Sylvia is upset about the Scully negotaiations then that is the height of hypocrisy. 2. The Admin should get on with planning for both eventualities (and not tell David Schwarz they are - because why should they tell him) 3. And Tim Harrington should plan for Tom signing a $600k contract, or having an extra $600k to spread around... Distraction mitigated and problem over.
  15. With all due respect - extraversion isn't leadership. And someone's leadership isn't defined by whether or not that will have a debatedly helpful presser. What questions do you think he will answer so that they won't continue to be asked? He has always said he will wait till the end of the season and that is what he would say once again. A press conference will feed the hungry journos but they are like pigeons - it will just mean they will hang around longer. The next presser I want to see is either him re-signing or him in plain clothes. And that can wait until September.
  16. I think we can reasonably assume that the earliest pick we have in that draft will have to be used for Viney. Clubs are not idiots and they will make sure we pay the highest price.
  17. Are you you?
  18. Of course it is skewed. But Tom's influence on the field is not where his influence ends - he is the ultimate professional off the field and obviously a very driven individual. Our lack of decent leaders amongst the playing group should illustrate how important driven kids like Tom can be. I realise it isn't just him that would be considered a strong leader amongst our under 23s, but that aspect would be a huge loss if he does decide to go.
  19. Matthew Bate is in danger of being sent packing... (Boom) Lynden Dunn should be traded... (Crash) This is apart of footy and we do it every year. I don't see the odiousness of talking about such a part and parcel aspect of the game as list management. Deletions are the foundation of list management.
  20. That leads to tender chicken...
  21. It was TOC. All those things have been said about Tom Scully. That was the balance of my point.
  22. Huh? It's list management. They are big boys. I'll start - I think Warnock will be delisted. (Shock horror)
  23. Whoosh! It was a joke.
  24. You have to go to the draft and complete 3 selections. I will have to check the rookie upgrades but I believe they are not counted in the three. Trades don't count.
  25. I don't want Colin to hold us to ransom... He will take what we can afford or he can leave... His kicking isn't that great either... He's not worth that figure now and we don't now if he ever will... He wasn't smiling at the membership drive in the 6 minutes I saw him there - this means he doesn't love the club... He has to decide now whether he is with us, or with the terrorists...
