  1. He is trying to do his job. If that means getting rebuffed then at least he asked the question. I would be more annoyed if we didn't ask, then if we got beaten to the punch again. I care about getting sh!t done, not perceptions when we don't get sh!t done.
  2. A bit soon, SMcFL...
  3. Leaders matter. Onfield leaders matter. How is this an argument?
  4. Onfield leadership isn't performance or talent. It is the three things I mentioned in the post above. And co-captaincy isn't captaincy. It isn't perfect either, but I see it as a better option than the status quo.
  5. I vehemently disagree. No matter what team you play in, at any level, those entrusted with leading the team have an effect on all others with their demeanour, body language, and response to challenges. It may be small in the AFL, but it is a game of inches and we are losing a few with our LG and Captain.
  6. He also wrote this - http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2011/03/04/scully-to-stay-put/ The guy is a glorified Bigfooty member. This is the future of journalism though...
  7. Put Sylvia's feet to the fire, or Martin's, or Jamar's, or Davey's. Cook is a kid key position player. Just move along.
  8. If I was to choose a captain, I would choose captains... But if we are to 'go through the process' I would get the Under 23 group to elect the 5-man LG from themselves. From there the under 23s vote for a captain from the entire list. I doubt it would be Green, it may be Moloney but an option of shared captaincy should be considered by the FD if the vote is split. My view is the scenario would be Frawley, Garland, Trengove, Grimes, and McKenzie in a leadership group with either Grimes and Frawley sharing captaincy or Moloney having it to himself. It isn't perfect but its better than having NQR senior players in positions of leadership when they clearly are not adequate to lead those 'below' them.
  9. Look up the meaning of 'each to their own.' I understood his post.
  10. I really don't get this, but each to their own.
  11. They get two picks inside 20 for Clark and 29... It's ok, but not great.
  12. I just think that Brisbane will crumble and accept the pick that Freo upgraded.
  13. Got more than 5k of that in Canberra, I believe. Make of that what you will.
  14. Ok, so Clark is now not going to happen apparently. Lisle/Walsh?
  15. Yeah, that'll do it. Can't beat a city that holds your missus and your kid...
  16. I don't think it is Internet Etiquette to 'like' your own posts, as that fondness is implicit... Also, I don't like your disregard of Martin. More important than Clark will be. Martin is perfect in the modern game with the need for a ruckman to be proficient at rucking and useful elsewhere.
  17. I guess we put Jamar on the VL? Or do we? We have so much cap space we might not want to.
  18. I would say with footy the way it is, you can only play slow mid-sized players in the midfield. The forward press requires mid-sized forwards to be quicker to harrass and chase. Matty has to make it in the midfield or nowhere, no matter what club he is at.
  19. Irish bean pole. 197cms. Haven't seen him play. VFL watchers - your cue...
  20. Absolutely not. Martin is a better ruckman, and arguably a better player. That would be a straight swap with a pick upgrade in our favour. Would not do it.
  21. I just get the impression that we are trying to get two players with the picks we got for losing he-who-must-not-be-named. A Clark-type and a star young mid. And try to stay relevant in this years draft. And I think we are trying to stretch too little, too far with that. But we will see...
  22. Compo pick after our pick?
  23. Harrington says 'sit down' son, and Matty is obviously a required player. He has to be groomed for the midfield. He isn't a natural forward and is not suited to the 'press' that forwards have to be a big player in. He is not quick, not agile, and can lose confidence easily. But he does have a big body, a great footy brain, and played as a mid in his youth. It's going to be difficult for him from here but I say we get Misson to turn his body into someone who has the ability to run 15km a game and get him into the middle. We have so many slight bodies in there that he may make it.
  24. What a waste of the Pick 21 we used on him... I thought he would be better, and I thought he pulled his finger out. Maybe he did. We will see. Just not at the Demons.
  25. I guess that is the case. I would have looked at that though. Two teen ND picks to replace the bloke who got us two teen ND picks...
