  1. You were the one having a go at me for having this view in the days leading up that event weren't you? As soon as that Mini-Draft process began - the deal was done. Which means it was pre-agreed. And considering that if GC forced us to use Pick 3 GWS would not have got it, I find it entirely plausible that GWS told GC to not bid for Viney for it would either cost them Pick 3 from us or cost their deal for Martin with Pick 2. You won't find people saying this was how it played out but clubs don't give other clubs an even break - without dealing for Hogan I am sure that the two clubs below us who have nothing to lose by bidding for Viney - would have bidded for Viney.
  2. They got Martin in the same Mini-draft that we got Hogan. With the Pick 2 that they didn't bid for Viney with.
  3. He had his second best season I thought immediately after signing that deal (2010). Then he had injuries for the next two and then it was 2013 and a long career had taken its toll. I don't feel any ill-will toward him or that deal.
  4. And I will throw this spanner in the works - we were playing a game of chicken with GC and GWS over the Viney bidding. They could have made us use Pick 3 on him. Our involvement in the Hogan deal allowed us to use Pick 26. And to those who still say that 'he wasn't top 3 in that draft class' - it doesn't matter. The entire footy world knew we were taking him wherever - GC or GWS could have forced our hand, they didn't because of the deal we made with them for Hogan.
  5. Barry is only worth persevering with if Roos and co. think when he does develop - he will be a player. If they don't - he will be delisted. And they might even delist him anyway - and rookie him.
  6. Byrnes is not just fighting players on our list for another contract - he is also fighting players Roos and co. are targeting. At his age, he would have to have a dramatic increase in form to warrant another contract. He is doing enough, with little competition, to keep his spot in the team. He will find it harder, with more competition, to keep his spot on the list.
  7. Clark is gone of course, Byrnes, Strauss, Tapscott, Nicholson, Blease, and Barry will find it hard to get another contract. Spencer, Bail, and Terlich should survive as 7 changes is quite a few.
  8. Michie, Tyson, and Riley might have different years than what is listed. I used my better judgement but...
  9. Is he being needlessly dismissive? Neither is he. He simply opined on the value of your posts when you are needlessly dismissive.
  10. I am not going to attack you, but I think that it is misguided to worry about Draft places after Rd 8 (if at all) if we want to be the kind of club Roos wants to build. Pick 9 last year was pretty good... Get a top 10 pick and you should pick up a player.
  11. The collective groan, OD, is because we know that our list has players that are NQR. Some of them will be jettisoned at the end of the year. Some are doing a good job at the minute and that is the sum of what most are saying. You constantly doing a Statler and Waldorf from the balcony wears thin. If we dismissed all our (currently adjudged) NQR players - we would not be able to field a team.
  12. Well, at least that was 9 minutes...
  13. And on the third day, the prophet arose and bumped James Hird as he has never been bumped before. All in thy members wing applauded for thee, for Hird has 'had it coming for ages.' Amen.
  14. Clisby, Riley, McKenzie, and Nicholson from those short reviews look likely.
  15. Ok, this is cognitive dissonance... You are guilty of the very crime you accuse of others. I will simplify this for all concerned: Stop. Taking. Criticism. Of. Players. Personally. Opinions are just that - opinions. If you think 'reasonable debate' is thin on the ground maybe you should try bringing some 'reasonableness' yourself.
  16. As CFB says - those issues were met with more than a few stern rebukes from you. It wasn't hindsight. And sure it was negative - it was the truth - and the truth wasn't a bed of roses. There is no need to be negative with MFC fans - there is a resilience to hope for fans of this club let me tell you that in the strongest of terms. The amount of nonsense we have put up with in the last few years would make Lindsay Lohan cringe. So I will add that I applaud your dedication to get to training and to get info on the club we love but I will reiterate that criticism and debate on here is not the dismissive spurn you seem to think it is. There is no need to jump down the throats of those with contrary, or 'negative,' views.
  17. How about this as a bridge to both sides: we have quite a few 'limited footballers' and, therefore, they are going to get games, and this circumstance allows them to show Roos (and us) that they are not who we thought they were.
  18. Huh? You went from 'They don't understand why their 'traning form isn't replicating in games' to 'let's all get behind the new coach' with a very small bridge. All I remember were some platitudes towards the rumblings we all now know about under Neeld - at the time you jumped down throats (personally by the way, so that's a two way street) whenever someone would allude to issues between Neeld and the players.
  19. I love Jack but he is not someone that teams would bother tagging just yet. He gets the footy from stoppages and off the floor in contests and does a few highlight reel escapes from those situations but if he wants to become the player I know he desperately wants to become - his game is going to have to evolve in a similar way to his Captain. Jones hurts teams with his link up play and had running to help under pressure defenders and fellow mids. The start of Viney's career has been promising but he would not be worried about by other teams just yet.
  20. Frawley, Dunn, McDonald, and Hogan are still Demons last I checked. If they all stayed on the back of this promising return to relevance - great. If they all left during the next two years: Frawley will bring a top 5 pick. Dunn will bring a top 40 pick. McDonald a suitable trade. Hogan a suitable trade. The Demons will live on. But remember they are all still demons...
  21. Yeah, this is going to be fun...
  22. That would be funny if you weren't tapping into decades worth of Demons fans' punished psyche over retention of very good players.
