AFL to fund the poorer clubs to pay 100% of the cap
rpfc replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are not trying to equalise the competition with 2 win teams with a 52 percentage. Nothing can help you sell that. But are we trying to sell that? No, we are trying to forget that. You talk about 'poor' teams like they would all play VFL-level football against good teams. We are so starved of a simple middling team we think that all teams down the bottom of the ladder are as inept as we have been the last few years. How would we go with 22 Friday night games this year? In both performance and interest? Quite effing well. And what would you say Peter Jackson would say to someone who thinks a 'good draw' is irrelevant? -
How can something be 'in the past' and be a myth that didn't happen? It's like saying Game of Thrones is a Fantasy/Period piece.

The draw defines the showcase of your brand. How you can be so dismissive of it is hard to understand. It is a part of the answer to equalisation of the league. -
I think Ebert made himself look like that. He was trying to milk a free IMO.
-
The AFL stepped in because of the state of the club - and I would argue that the recent Tanking investigation is a part of that. But it is a rich tapestry of nonsense that led to Jackson being parachuted in not just that longwinded and, in my view, misguided investigation With the killer blow being the insipid start to 2013 onfield.

Multiple gameplans is a form of mixed messaging... And it is simply confidence that Bail got on the end of that kick. Ability of both players to see it as a possibility (because what the hell was that?), and confidence.

In theory - no. The FA concept would mean that players go to the best deal and the talent is spread across the competition. In reality - well, it's there for all to see. Players will take pay cuts to stay at clubs in contention, and even pay cuts to leave for clubs in contention. AFL Free Agency has a way to go before it is doing what it intends to do. -

The AFL fought long and hard not to have a set percentage and GRRM is right - it is close to a quarter. Most sports pay players much, much more than coaches and its coaching staff. The AFL is one of the few that pays coaches more than players. The cap is low from what I can tell -the AFL makes a great deal of money still. The ownership structure is different to US sports but they are far more equalised than the AFL in terms of gate receipts, merchandise, game day revenues, and Free Agency as a means of evening the competition. -
I think the terrible culture, boneheaded appointments, and massive onfield losses got the old guard out of the club. Not that sham of an investigation. We are a better club for the appointment of Bartlett, Jackson, Roos and his coaching staff; but this happened after that investigation was completed and we were found 'Not Guilty', fined half a mil, and the reigns of the club were maintained in the hands of those you claim were removed by the investigation. I agree that the animosity toward OTC and McLean should dissipate but I am not about to applaud the nonsense we had to deal with, nor give it any plaudits for some positive changes that we have seen since.

Where is the merit in this post?

Which opposition players call him 'Captain Can't Kick'? Who would own up to such an unfunny retort?

Jetta and Georgiou are both on the Primary List due to LTIs for Clark and Hogan. I believe in a week the mid season Rookie upgrade is possible and that will allow both those players to remain in the Primary List even when Hogan comes back off the LTI. Remembering that 8 weeks is the minimum a player is on the LTI, the maximum being 24 (the season).

Same. He's more comfortable with other clubs supporters.

Most on here know my stance but last week was the Indigenous Round as mentioned. All jumpers were not 'traditional.'

He usually wanders over to BigFooty as Trav 20 when he cracks the...sads. Probably there.
-
He has. We just listen to the nonsense that spouts from everywhere when he gives his "2nd gear efforts" every third game.
-
Disagree with the first two lines, roll my eyes at the third line and call BS on the last line. If you think Roos is going to cast aside Grimes at the end of the season you have learnt nothing from the first 10 weeks of the season.

I was there. Bulldogs after him too.

He's been doing some walking...

I am with wyl. Of course the Emblem is busy. If you'd been through what this club has been through - you couldn't represent yourself in a cereal box caricature. 156 years of inventing the game, dealing with war and depression, borne out of a Cricket Club and a Stadium - there is no simple logo that is going to do this club justice.

Yeah, that was interesting. It makes sense but it is up to him to have the discipline to get off at the right times. The interview? It was a fine, benign discussion on his misguided treatment over the first few years as a Demon. He was honest but not controversial - it was a good end to that period of his career. And as Gerard said - there looks to be a 5 year period coming up that he should find more reward.

Players to target at the end of the year
rpfc replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Adelaide won't let him leave. After Gunston and Tippett - he is not going anywhere. -
I assume you mean 1st round draft picks? Bernie Vince for Pick 24 looks inspired.

Young teams make mistakes. Mistakes are harder to capitalise on in the wet.

I think he is a kid and the season will catch up with him soon. But the promise is so grand if he can continue on his current path.
