  1. And why would they do that deal? Unless you get both to say - I am going home - GWS doesn't want to get younger by doing that trade.
  2. We have less talent than other teams but have to reach the salary 'floor' - of course we are going to over pay. This is the least of our concerns. Not having the talent to over pay would be a higher concern, yes?
  3. I am sorry that you feel my view that we have a bad list is an 'attitude' and not a statement of sad fact - but we have about 14 AFL standard players on the list right now and some of them are out of form... They bashed psyche of the players is concerning and affects performance but when comparing lists with other teams - our talent is potential talent and our AFL ready players are few and far between.
  4. Yeah, if we don't win them, we might miss out on finals... We are a bad team, with a bad list - these two games are as irrelevant as the MFC right now.
  5. Yes, but a few weeks ago Bail was working his way back to being a productive player - now he is 'part of the problem.' I am sorry to say this - but this list will not be fixed this October. It will take 3 years. Bail being delisted for Pick 105 is not 'making the list better' it is in fact - doing the opposite. I am using Bail as an example here but the notion 'anyone would be better than...' is the stupidest reason to get rid of someone. At the end of 2007 and in the next couple of years we got rid of pros and replaced them with kids because 'that's how you rebuild' - well we now know that is BS. You make the list better by bringing in talent and making sure you space out the deletion of those that won't make it strategically so that you can maximise the amount of high end talent you bring in over these 3 years.
  6. This hurts my feelings, supermercado. I have a thread on the board right now and mine is better than this one. Nicholson is OOC this year. Tyson got a three year contract. Sigh...
  7. No, but I have a mortgage on an opinion goose. I don't know what's worse; the repayments or the fact that he has to tell me what he thinks about EVERYTHING...
  8. Ruthless Rooth-less adj. 1. Attaining something in an impossible scenario. 2. To get something worth something, with nothing. 3. To expect an unrealistic happenstance.
  9. 1: Pick 3 2: Pick 4 3: Pick 20 4: Pick 40 5: Pick 59 6: Jetta (Elevation) 7: Pick 77 8: Pick 90 9: Delisted Free Agent 10: Pick 100 Don't know about the kind of talent you would be getting in with those last few - with Frawley tying our hands in FA we won't be getting any FAs in.
  10. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
  11. He has never been more effective than in the 8 or so good games he has played down back this season. He is still young and is learning some excellent defensive traits back there being a part of a defence that has reduced the score kicked against us by 7 goals. And, OD, of course if someone offered a capable midfield replacement for him we would have to look at it - but what player doesn't qualify for that kind of statement? Very few. I would have traded his flashy marks for some substance in a heartbeat last October, but 2014 has seen progress from Howe, and Roos is using his skills to great effect in the backline.
  12. 2014 is his 2nd year. Too early to tell. Hasn't played enough to know.
  13. Billy, just ignore me if you think I have wronged you so. For the post in question - I was using 'you' in the abstract - as in 'when we are talking about compensation, I think you should stick to talking about the Bands.' That's not a demand - you can think what you like Billy - you have my permission if you need it. I don't really know what I have done for you to just fall apart all over the internet every time I post on something but it might be best if you just ignore me.
  14. This only guarantees 4 years on the list for Barry though. We have plenty of players to go before Barry. He can have a chance to prove himself.
  15. Pardon? The picks given will be in one of the Bands - if you want to disagree with that point by all means. But I think we will get Band 1 or Band 2 and that means Pick 4/5 or Pick 19/20. I would love to know why the Bands are irrelevant.
  16. Updated. All important players back for 2015, bar one.
  17. This is the best news... McDonald signs and Roos actually rates an inherited youngster. I will update the contracts thread.
  18. Give us a plug in player instead of one of those picks and I like it a great deal. Matt Shaw? May? McKenzie? 4 and 24 for 11, McKenzie, and 31. I hate doing this stuff...
  19. I think that they should use the percentage of the cap as a part of their formula but their formula is as malleable as the truth down at AFL House. They won't give us a PP but give us Pick 4 for Frawley. It's just the perfect PR answer to us needing talent and the AFL needing to show its owners (Coll, Haw, WCE, etc) that it doesn't give a sucker an even break.
  20. He's got two months to turn it around.
  21. With Harmes and especially King - why bother taking them if you get rid of them after 1 season? That is a rhetorical question - they will both be retained.
  22. I was more incredulous that you didn't see the references to Sylvia as Band 3 that's all. The only thing that is factored is the new contract and the age of the player. Frawley will return Band 1 or Band 2 - and if he signs a four year deal for $600k I think we will see Pick 4. If we don't then we will see Pick 19/20. So either 4 or 20. One is arguably 'overs' and the other is arguably 'unders' so I hope the benefit of the doubt goes to the team with a great need for a top 5 pick...
  23. lol I was benignly adding the bands to the conversation. You're welcome.
