The Wade Derksen Thread
Players are agreeing to clubs right now. We have a list manager for a reason. If the new coach wants to kibosh some deals that we have made then I would prefer to manage that fallout then being quiet and then the new coach coming in and seeing no potential opportunities because they were ‘waiting for them to arrive.’

Jefferson = Gunston !! PF jumped the shark back in 2007 with Michael Newton but that is a special kind of delusion.

The way things are going lately, this Windhager fellow will follow suit and nominate the Saints as his preferred home

I am suggesting that posters do not engage the reasoning centres of their pre-frontal cortex when they discuss appropriate recompense in matters of football trades.

It’s amazing how this player is great and a potential boon but also not worthy of any valuable asset. Literally incredible.

AFLW: Rd 04 vs Richmond
Hore and Hanks. And they have found some mid sized backs that play taller and have great instincts. If Fitzsimons keeps playing like that then they are a chance this season. Purcell is such a large gap to fill but MF is doing a pretty good impression with Hore spending more time in the middle too.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
You are quite excellent at not asking the pertinent question. I mean that as a compliment, really. It’s a good sign as a lawyer. The situations are completely different and your question rhetorical and yet so irrelevant.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
Maybe not but I am glad Old has brought a bit of reality to this. Some here just navel gaze and whinge ‘big clubs get players for a packet of chips so we can too’ waaaah… ‘they just have to nominate us’ waaaah…

I heard similar and specifically around Grundy - Gawn would not relent and waived away Goodwins desire to adjust his game but also wasn’t up front with how he would not relent before Goodwin made that fateful move. Some ask about the cost - how about this for a counterfactual - put all that effort and trade capital and $$$ into a tall forward… It makes my blood boil.

Nope, I would gladly hand over a couple of those AAs for another 20 goals a season and Grundy being an effective ruck as Goodwin intended. I am being slightly facetious and fanciful with the counter factual but we have never really dealt with what happened with that great waste of time and effort to get Grundy and I think it was costly.

‘Absolute garbage’? Ok then.

I expect more from captains.

One can hope. But Max walks on water to most.
-
Rowan Marshall
No he won’t. Goodwin got Brodie effing Grundy to allow Gawn to build a forward aspect to his role and he could not or would not do it. It would have allowed Gawn to have a Paul Salmon like end to his career and play till he is 40 but now Max will simply end his career in a puff of smoke in the next few as his knees give out for the last time. Shouldering the ruck incessantly and unnecessarily.

Gawn has made it quite clear he can’t and won’t coexist with an another ruck so there would be nothing to this EVEN if the far fetched idea of Marshall wanting to come was true.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Our forward issues are beyond ‘goalkicking’. That’s first world issues. We do not have a functioning forward line (most of the time) and rely on guile (Melksham) or spasmodic genius (Pickett). We need to evolve how we move the footy and leverage the space that is given to us by the opposition. JVR seems one dimensional, Fritsch largely incapable of providing the main threat, Jefferson barely rates a mention for me, and Petracca admittedly up in the air with his role. The backline being inert doesn’t help but the years spent smashing the ball into the forward line for ‘territory’ and ‘repeat entries’ has bastardised the instincts of the team. The ‘accuracy problem’ is a misnomer - we get bad looks that are wide or we force long kicks that are rushed or create rushed shots.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Yes, they may as well call it ‘Making News where there was none’ Or ‘Telling you what to think’

Or smarts. Honestly, I don’t care if your tall forward is slow. He should be taking players to the ball.

AFLW: Rd 03 vs Collingwood
Brave win really. They are going to struggle to stay with the top 4 now I feel Depth can never replace your best players and Gillard, Purcell, and Lampard are that. Argument for Goldrick too. So if Fitzsimon takes a bigger leap or McNamara slides into the middle with ease, and if we can get some more comfortable HBF performances from the few that have gone through there then we can weather it. Otherwise, we just might lean in to scoring heavily and getting the forwards more in sync.

CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
There is just no traffic on that board. Chrome caches for me the main board on the browser default as a quick link. Not the site home page, the main board. It’s the same reason why traffic on the trade board is low while people figure out there is another board to travel to. I see the reason, I don’t agree with it. As we argue about whether Caulfield is 5% or 7% over the line - there are a group of Demon women worth pushing out to the Land masses that haven’t got the good word yet.
