  1. I does make sense but whenever we inevitably ramp up there will players aggressive and those that are passive from how they have played the last 4 months. The problem then is holes emerging that make it easier to transition out of our front half. My mantra for coaching style and gameplan is whatever you do, everyone has to believe in it. It’s the connection I see as the main risk and I can see us dropping games in the last 6 rounds as we ramp it back up.
  2. If he was playing on the footy, his match conditioning may mean playing for Casey.
  3. If Geelong can function, Tassie can.
  4. Faulty- let the bloke have his joke. Everyone laughed in the metaphorical pub and now we are back to providing olddee technical assistance.
  5. Depends what your metrics for success are.
  6. Salem is a HBF. If he is right to play he should play for Melbourne.
  7. Perhaps your mate can be a professional and not call someone a coward in official proceedings. It is embarrassing to the sport and to himself.
  8. Is the intent of this survey to ascertain whether we think Salem should play in the Seniors this weekend? Because if it is; this survey will not get you that data..
  9. Doesn’t surprise me; we just look like we are waiting more and being more patient and letting teams ‘crash against the rocks’ so to speak and the tide goes the other way. My read, and of course I may be wrong, is that this a tweak for the season to save our legs as it is unsustainable to do for 25 games a year again. But I say this with a warning - flirting with one’s form and game plan comes with the risk that it is difficult to ramp up again. I understand we have other ways to kill teams but pressure is a final winning trait.
  10. Amen. As it is written; there shall be but one holy day in the west but only one. There will be but one holy day MC’d by a Basil but only one. So shall it be.
  11. Yeah, I had the same issue. His evenness is now part of his success. Really is perfect for the modern footballer. They don’t want a rollicking coach - they want a calm mentor with consistent messaging and empathy.
  12. Yeah, I just don’t think a paramount/10 will not have any FTA games.
  13. Ch7 have been awful with their coverage of the game. Outside of ‘broadcasting’ of the literal game - Fox actually have a myriad of shows to supplement their coverage of the sport, even with the womens game. Ch7 just pay lip service to that side of it with pathetic attempts to engage with Roaming Brian after games, zero analysis on non- Friday night games, a terrible show with Adam Cooney that much cost more in rent than in talent post Friday night. There is no talking footy or GameDay anymore. Ch7 and Free to Air have lost me - I would prefer to purchase Paramount and watch through there. They have taken it for granted and their late fixes with the commentary (Nicholson, Matt Thompson, Daisy Pearce) is too little too late. And I know that some older people and those in regional areas with bad internet may be impacted but there will still be the fri, sat night games, and the Sunday arvo game to watch on FTA.
  14. You might be right with Rivers. At some point they are going to have to fit May, Lever, Petty, Salem, Brayshaw, Bowey, Hunt, and Rivers into that back 7. Someone misses out unless Brayshaw moves Jordan out of the wing and the team. Another one if Hibberd is needed for the medium sized power player that will come later in the season.
  15. If you have a spare hour and Amazon Prime, do yourself a favour and watch the doco that they have produced with our Tayla. Really interesting and inspiring, and disgusting and enlightening. I have learnt a lot about her as a person and what drives her. Its also a testament to her that her larger message in this doco has little to do with Tayla Harris the person.
  16. I hope the Freo loss shows to teams that we are beatable, be better to watch teams try and win as opposed to avoid losing. The keepings off ‘Geelong’ style nonsense is hard to watch and so very boring. Sydney will try to move it quick and through the corridor - they won’t win the majority of first possession but will prey on us coughing it up after we win it at the coalface.
  17. If @tilly18’s mail is correct and an illness ran through the team - I wonder whether we will see some continued impacts from that this week. Langdon, TMac and Harmes to come back and Salem a chance, we may see them replace those that are ill, and less those that will be replaced in the best team. Anyway, food for thought.
  18. Clarkson pushing the Green Bay model of community ownership of a club. It is better than private ownership, I don’t understand why private is better. Private means desire for profits or being held for ransom if a person is bankrolling a team. It is awful. So this model would provide enormous up front finances and basically a ‘Tassie or dead’ model for the club - the ‘owners’ will never vote to leave. One of the reasons the NFL don’t like the Green Bay packers model - coz the owners over there (that the NFL work for) want to be able to vote teams out of markets and into new ones to maximise $$$.
  19. I actually think he would be fine as a back up ruck to Gawn. He was groomed for that before a unicorn of generational talent came along. Nothing is black and white, OD. We will see what happens.
  20. I guess we do get booed at the cricket when not engaging in that exotic wave…
  21. He is the only back up ruck contracted for next year tho. Just saying…
  22. Brayshaw leaving Freo would be like us letting Oliver go 3 years ago. And the only way we get him through trade and afford him in the cap is after Jackson leaves…
  23. 2 very bad teams plus Essendon being just normally bad allow this.
  24. Only a Melbourne supporter could be so self-indulgent with their self loathing. In this blokes mind - we never won the flag.
  25. So I don’t think we are going to get access to a talent like Jackson for 6 or 7 years at least. What happened in 2019 was an aberration to our trajectory and now we are so good that mid table mediocrity is all that will happen with injuries to good players for the better part of the next decade. Thats just a long way of saying - we have a 20 year old jet who can be anything - we need to keep that. That doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world if he does leave - far from it - but he is a jet. Don’t try to convince yourself otherwise.
