  1. Ok so they made the right decision not playing him in the SF. Can you imagine if he had one kick? ’People said he was good, we got nothing in the cupboard, life sux, grumble grumble fart!!!’
  2. I am objective as they come o_d, but I am never going to pontificate on any prognostication relating to the glorification of the evil that lives in Mordor (Geelong). Happy trails friend.

Pretty happy with my contribution. The streamed consciousness from a few here in the first few pages is, ah, facepalm inducing…

    Should we pick him up?
  5. You know it doesn’t work like that. But if people want to waste their summers thinking we were ‘only a forward pocket away’ go for it.
  6. He stealing goals off Kozzie and Fritsch. He is a role player and would have suffered the same fate knowing how we delivered the ball into the pocket. To think that our fortunes would have been changed by a couple of forward pockets is folly.

I don’t disagree but we risked Salem, Lever, Gawn, Brown and Jackson (at least) in games when they could have had longer lay offs during the middle of the year that may (emphasis on may) have meant a better September. Gawn had syndesmosis and was back in 2 weeks for example. We were losing anyway… These are but lessons for our future.
  8. That’s not going to be much. Our stars were banged up and we limped to the finish. Swap those players and it doesn’t change the result.
  9. Happens to most.
  10. He is on $100k more than the average player. You can’t have that currency sitting at Casey. These are facts, we can’t go around and around disputing the truth. It’s infuriating.
  11. All those coaches have made Grand Finals. And none of them wanted to really talk to Essendon, let alone coach them. Then the spin came.
  12. Do you have anyone to corroborate this?
  13. You do see that as a ridiculous clarification though don’t you? We want to pick a coach that has plenty of coaching experience… (looks around room and sees only weird looks from former senior coaches) …doesn’t have to be as a senior coach!!! Can be as an assistant!!! Ruling out?? Jake Melksham? Luke Hodge? Like I don’t care but they wanted Lyon and Clarkson to be falling over themselves to come to them they are so deluded.
  14. @KLV:Hopefully the truth it uncovers helps us in the white community to understand and learn. ….aaaannnnnnddddd… You’re nearly there. …aaaannnnnnndddd… …face consequences. You nearly got there…
  15. I think it’s safe to say they didn’t think that their would be accusations of such reprehensible behaviour. It’s all so draining. I’m going to watch Andor again.
  16. 2nd year in a row least scored against. Also our defensive structure and full ground ‘web’ has been 4 years in the making according to Gawn (interview last year) and driven by Chaplin. Worthy winner. I wonder if we should shuffle people around. I don’t believe that just because he is a former defender that he can’t take over the forward line. The new coach of GWS, a former back pocket, coached Riewoldt at St K and Nick is adamant he was the best forwards coach he ever had.
  17. I don’t think any differently…
  18. Don’t put that evil on the future! Classic boomer behaviour
  19. I believe in the presumption of innocence, but I am over the days of the presumption of lying and duplicity. Let’s get to the bottom of this - because it may have ruined peoples lives. And that’s when, yes - it will ruin a few livelihoods. That’s called consequences.
  20. Leigh Matthews rates the list manager/head recruiter as the most important jobs. We need to keep Taylor, probably Lamb too, with the past record. Assistant coaches can come and go. Although we will need a strong personality to keep Goodwin’s man management style balanced. That means tactical coaching and also someone to push Goodwin on his favourites - which is always the downfall of those type of coaches - the currency they trade in is loyalty and not performance.
  21. Actually I am wrong, multiple reports say 5 years. That was… not wise.
  22. I don’t think he has 2 years left. He wasn’t given a 5 yr contract.
  23. You may have thought it was fairly clear because my argument and what you thought my argument was are two sides of a coin. As in, the remedy to the perception that the AFL Integrity Unit cannot help the broader footy community is to have it be more reflective of that community. And whether that perception is reality or not is kind of beside the point. My best mate is a cop and I love him and he is a great person but his experiences have changed his views when it comes to Indigenous and African members of the community. He is quick to judge and assume and I can see him doing his job well if he had someone of those backgrounds to assist but I can see them be guarded with the way he talks about their community and their proclivities. Anyway, we are getting way off track. Happy to chat in the grey though - that’s where the answers are.
  24. So that’s one of my points; you accept there has been racism in the past but refuse to engage in a specific instance where racism, or even the perception thereof, may have played a negative factor. A panel of white former cops is not going to engender confidence in indigenous footballers to engage with good faith with an investigation because they don’t think it will be reciprocated. Its the most benign argument I have made on here since I argued last year that Weideman might be better in the ruck. If you don’t see the point I am making and prefer to conflate it with some sort of ‘reverse racism’ that is your tactic of deflection to use. But don’t think we can’t see it as a tactic.
