  1. Yes, this comes back to my Forwards Only theme for us next year. If you can’t find the footy in the forward half with forward craft or good forward instincts - I am sorry, you can compete for a spot on the other wing to Ed. ANB is not a forward and never has been, his overlap running and amazing aerobic capacity has been a point of difference recently but as the best teams have caught up with that ‘slingshot’ he has been found out because he can’t get the ball and/or can’t execute in the F50. Kozzie is a fwd, Fritsch is a fwd, Brown and TMac have other problems but they are forwards, Spargo is a big conundrum for me as I really struggle with whether he is ‘too slow mid’ out of position, or can actually find footy at the contest in the F50. He gets a great deal on the overlap and maybe he should be competing with ANB for the non-Ed wing… And don’t get me started on Sparrow or Harmes through there when resting - they are absolute liabilities. Petracca can play forward, Brayshaw is smart, Oliver is a natural in any contest. They can rest there. But the rest… Forwards Only pls.
  2. When he played in the Prelim for Casey after our season was done, I thought to myself ‘why?’ It may be a sign of the respect between clubs and the playing group but the risk did not outweigh that benefit. And here we are.
  3. We might want to play him then. I would have leaned into a small quick line up after the three losses as it became obvious that we were playing on fumes. Is he a part of the forward line next year? Because if he isn’t in the 7 then he will be off this October.
  4. Or instead of.
  5. This should be us getting flogged…
  6. So more than ‘goal kicking’ coaching… Youre describing what a forward coach should drive. Stafford needs help or needs to go.
  7. Nothing that holds much Weightman.
  8. Your case being that umpires and misses were the difference and we don’t need to make any changes?
  9. Yes, and he was high when he said it. ‘You can finish second, third, fourth, heck even fifth!’ Quite apt. Quite apt.
  10. He’s on as much as Langdon (~$500k) and he could be playing for half a dozen other teams regularly. It’s best for both parties for him to go.
  11. I believe that was just a paraphrased excerpt of the meeting in Rye…
  12. Personally I prefer @Nudge Where art thou?!

Most of the above salient posts should be in the Ben Brown thread. But our whole forward structure and how we move the ball needs to change. And that change may mean it’s suited to BBB. (I have my doubts with the Gawn FF future ominous for Brown)
  14. Blocked from my end, GNF.
  15. Once was enough. I am not going to delude myself into thinking umpiring was the difference. We need to make changes, my eyes have seen it all season long.
  16. Adem should now withdraw, no newbie coach will have a handicap from the start even if they won it - the spectre of Hird is a ‘board movement’ away.
  17. Hmmm. I hope that is just bluster to avoid looking like you are giving excuses…
  18. With Grundy our forward line becomes Gawn centred. Gawn deep, with TMac/Brown up the ground, a couple of crumbers and the rest lead up forwards otherwise we are too top heavy next to Gawn: Spargo McDonald JVR Fritsch Gawn Pickett Melksham/Medium forward on bench.

I don’t agree with it, I just agree with @old55 that the Grundy recruitment (or equivalent ruck) means Gawn is nearing the end and we are moving him to FF for his dotage. And that we need to then construct a forward line around that.
  20. rpfc replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe with Gawn anchored to the square we won’t be able to fit another KPF in other than a CHF (JVR, TMac, Brown) and the rest have to be speedy pressure forwards or medium talls that can pressure too.
  21. rpfc replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
    What are his dimensions?
  22. Yeah, it has to be the Max is nearly done. Such a shame. Now we have to try and fashion a forward line with Gawn in the square. BBB can’t play with that then. We will have to stop flooding back ANB and Spargo (or the people who play their roles) so deep as Gawn can’t be up that high and run back into space. I would actually prefer to not flood so far back from the forward line so that I will like. I hope it means more leading at the footy from JVR and Fritsch INSIDE the 50.
  23. All draftees get an automatic 2 year contract. For a supposed Melksham replacement with whatever pick, it will mean that we have to keep them past next year, and we probably would want to. Our names next year for delisting are not very many at all, and the ones you think may be going, may have already gone (Tomlinson). So it begins to make sense to give Melksham another year to space out the delistings and the number of kids we want to develop in set 2 year contracts.
  24. Now Tim, what layzie meant by that is that respectfully disagrees with some of the decisions you have made.
