  1. North head over to WA to play West Coast on Saturday 1 March. Therefore I’m inferring that we play North on the Saturday 22 Feb so North avoid a 6 day trip the following week. Plus Fox Sports suggested it’s 11am on Saturday 22 Feb, but nothings confirmed. I’m assuming both clubs don’t want a heck of a lot of fans in attendance hence the lack of notice.
  2. Further to the above: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1266069/tickets-on-sale-for-aami-community-series-new-collingwood-magpies-on-show-before-dan-houstons-grudge-match The AFL website still saying that the date and time for our match sim against North is TBC. Fox Sports indicated it was an 11am start and the second and fourth quarters would have a planned 2 minute simulation at the end of both quarters. I'd suggest it will be on the Saturday as both clubs head out to WA the following weekend for praccy matches.
  3. I doubt it’s that reason. SEN interviewed Jace Burgoyne from Port and he indicated that training for the indigenous team would occur next week. I think they’re just easing his load a little as he’s missing (yet again) the first 3 games and the team needs to put in structures and strategies without him.
  4. Wasn't overly excited that we parted ways with him. We always had that luxury that we could bring Tomo straight in if a May, Lever or Petty was out. Now we're probably in a little bit of trouble if two of May, Lever, Petty and T Mac are missing in the one game.
  5. OMG I've tried to banish that Viney kick from my memory. If his kick had a bit of elevation and less panic it would've hit a teammate and we had a very open forward line to potentially enable the sealer. The entire side lost the plot in the last quarter and it was a final we should not have lost. The other finals in 2022 and 2023 we were beaten by the better sides on the night, and yes that includes Collingwood.
  6. The club should say to Kozzie: Have another think about it for the next 8-9 months. If you still want to go to WA, the we'll still hold you to the third year (being season 2026) of your 4 year extension, which is more than fair enough given you signed for 4 years. We will do everything we can to trade you at the end of 2026, and we'll use season 2026 to work out the best package and club (could be West Coast) that suits the MFC. "Were honouring your wish to head back home to WA the state, Not Fremantle the club." With that being said, it's pretty much a fait accompli that he won't be a long term Dee which is really disappointing.
  7. North Melbourne @ Arden Street. Saturday 22nd Feb. 11am. 4x 25 min quarters.
  8. Thanks mate for bringing that up. He did plead for a bit of patience in that video with respect to a few pre seasons. A handful of senior games and an average of 2 to 3 goals a game at Casey would be a good step in the right direction.
  9. Yep, this isn’t the first time he’s talked us up. Either late last year or in early January he was talking us up on his SEN program, in relation to bounce back teams. He was also bullish about us during his call of the Suns V Dees game late in the year with respect to us contending for 2025. (Mind you he can get over excited whenever a team’s doing well in any given game)
  10. What are Jeffo’s strengths that will not only get him a game in the AFL but hopefully provide a point of difference as a key forward going forward? What did Taylor see in him nab him in the first round?
  11. That kind of trade is common place in the USA. Clubs will try to trade players with bad contracts and attach a prospect with it just to get the salary off the books and then use that money more constructively. Surprised it doesn’t happen more in the AFL.
  12. Not sure about the following: - Howe’s best B&F finish was just 6th and spent the entire 2015 season sooking it up at P Roos for playing him as a defender. - Schwarz didn’t even give us 3 completed season in the 2000’s. He was more of the 90’s side. - Rivers might be a touch premature. However he’s given us some great service so far with a 50 odd consecutive streak of games.
  13. Anyone that’s kicked 4 goals in an AFL game probably warrants some consideration.
  14. Cornes definitely rated us up until the second half of last year. He doesn't rate Goodwin though and thinks he has a game plan that's stuck in 2002. Joey Montagna has been our biggest supporter over the years.
  15. Inspired by the NBL? In fairness to Danger I was expecting him to advocate the COVID 2020 length quarters which were quite frankly rubbish and I cringe looking back as some of those junior league football type scores. But even he admitted those quarters were too short and teams couldn't find a rhythm. Perhaps if we didn't call time on when the umpires bounced the ball, which can take up to 15 seconds then we'd cut out 5 minutes just there.
  16. The same question could be asked of McVee.
  17. Yeah I think the most disturbing thing about that game (and the WC loss) was that we had a bloody strong side. I think only Lever missed the Freo debacle. The injuries came later in the season.
  18. Great work mate in saving that link. I noticed the Swans were $70 to win the flag and ended up making the 8. A bit of money was to be had there.
  19. I often wonder what our odds were to win the flag at the start of the 2021 year, but I suspect it was around $26, which is incidentally what we are now. So I'd say the consensus was around 10th - 11th.
  20. One top 10 and then a late first rounder IMO. He's still inconsistent (eg- near BOG against Port and then 4 possession the following week V GC) and has never been nominated in the All Australian 40 squad. He could easily get to that level though.
  21. Because we lost 10 of our last 15 games. Some of them in quite frankly embarrassing and un Melbourne like and un Goodwin like (in terms of the majority of his coaching tenure) fashion. If you were a non MFC supporter or media pundit who had no skin in the MFC, it's only natural to go by the latest evidence that was provided to you. Last impressions last, as opposed to first impressions when we started 6-2. For example Hawthorn were 2-6 at the same time we were 6-2 in 2024. I seriously doubt people are going to take stock into that appalling start when predicting Hawthorn's ladder finish in 2025, just like most people won't factor in our impressive 6-2 start to 2024. As for your post, it's a very fair assessment IMO. And you're not wrong with the wider AFL community not rating us. In a sample of 75 predictions on the Bigfooty ladder thread, just 3 non Dees supporters tipped us to make the 8. Just 3!!
  22. Lever looked like he was in the thick of things and must be close to full training. Hopefully we have 4 to choose from, out of May, Lever, T Mac and Petty, come our round 1 defence.
  23. That I agree on for sure. The “I’m so desperate to get back home to WA, but I’ll only accept a trade to Freo” is a blight on our game.
  24. Ok, that’s fair. Now point out to me examples of trades where clubs lost a quality player and received a quality player in return. Where we differ in opinion is that you think it’s fair and just that a gun player like a Young or Brayshaw should come back our way for Kozzie. My contention is that there has been no recent precedence where a gun player was traded for a gun player, and it would therefore be extremely unlikely to occur in a prospective trade between Freo and Melbourne.
