Farewell Clayton Oliver
The media are raving about his game because he's set the bar so low over the 2024-2025 period compared to his halcyon days prior to mid 2023. Does anyone remember the day he had 38 touches and 3 goals against Adelaide in a rare 2021 loss? You couldn't get a more complete midfielders game than that one. Last Saturday was not in the same stratosphere as that one. With that being said, he was second best on the ground from the people that know the game the best - the GWS and Hawthorn coaches.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
Yeah I can recall we weren’t great out at Waverley, particularly from the mid 1990’s until the closure. I wonder had we played West Coast at the G rather than Waverley in the 1990 semi final, things may have been different. We had a great record at the g but couldn’t beat the good teams at Waverley that year. As for the training venue, will we still train at Casey at times, or 100% at Waverley?

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
It's understood NAS copped a corkie. Probably 0% he misses this game.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Tuesday 10th March 2026
Any MFC player that chooses "Take me home country roads" will be deemed ineligible for selection in my book.

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Can genuinely see 6 games next year in OR next year with the 6th game on the Labor day public holiday.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Judging on last night, I reckon St Kilda (and probably Port) are going to be the biggest beneficiaries of the wild card top 10. Not quite good enough to beat the top teams consistently but will have no issues going to town on the bottom 8 or so sides. They showed signs last night but were too inefficient inside 50. For example, if they win the inside 50 count by 21 again next week and improve their efficiency and accuracy then I can’t see us winning. With Marshall out I’m pretty certain Heath won’t play. I doubt he would’ve regardless. Mihocek, JVR and Fritta should be enough height and marking power and I’d like to see Melksham as that third for fourth forward playing heavy minutes on the bench.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Hope so. It’s pretty well known that Steele is livid with St Kilda and has a massive point to prove next week.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
A tough couple of days for us supporters. Both Trac and Clarry played one of their best, if not best games, since 2023 ish. Neither player could do no wrong this week. Having said that, nobody put a gun to our head (so to speak) and forced us to trade them. It was our decision and we as supporters have to suck it up.

Everyone writing off Geelong after an un- winnable game against the Suns in peak humidity for opening round. Aside from maybe Brisbane, not one single team beats GC last night. Nothing surer than Geelong bouncing back next week and having a big win over Freo.

Farewell James Harmes
A) i agree that they’ve been a shambles. B) the no DH policy is a recent thing. C) they almost made the World Series last year and are 3rd favourites to win tho entire thing this year.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Interesting that Geelong put Holmes on him in the last quarter and his output decreased from that point. Clubs are going to have sleepless nights on deciding who they put work into: Rowell, Anderson or Trac. If Trac is left unattended like he was for the first 3 quarters of last night, he may end up having his career best season.

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Looking forward to: Clarry having 45 and kicking 2 snags today. McVee keeping all of Close, Dempsey, Miers and Jack Martin goalless while having 30 touches of his own next week. And Spargo kicking a 53 metre goal in his North debut.

Farewell James Harmes
My MLB team the Seattle Mariners have a strict policy of only trading in players from other clubs with exceptional character. I think it’s a great policy. I’m surprised we went anywhere near him after his car incident during early COVID.

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
We’ve got an early club house leader for for worst question of the year in a press conference: Journo: as a lover of football, you’d be happy that Petracca has settled in so well up in QLD and played a great game tonight. Chris Scott: Yep. Rapt for him. Great. *end press conference*

Farewell Christian Petracca
Blown away by his skill level. Blown away by his accuracy in front of goal. Blown away by going 80% by foot. Blown away by basically everything he did turned to gold. He hasn’t played this perfect a game in years.

Bailey Humphrey
100% they would’ve walked away. Leads me to believe Trac’s position at the MFC was untenable going forward.

Bailey Humphrey
The irrational side of me 100% agrees with this. Kind of feels like GC got their cake (Trac) and got to eat it too (retaining Humphrey)

Farewell Christian Petracca
I suspect when Rowell returns he’ll get less midfield minutes and therefore less output. I’ve been completely blown away by this performance.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Have Geelong put a second of work into him aside from at the centre bounce?
-
NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
I reckon Geelong punted this game away at selection by not risking Danger and Cameron. And then their application, structure, desire and skill level has followed suit. No way they’re this bad. Watch them flick the switch next week and comfortably beat Freo at home.

Farewell James Harmes
Was listening to SEN this morning with Tom Morris. According to Morris, Harmes was desperately keen to play on and pleaded with the Dogs for one last chance. However, apparently the Dogs said to him that he'd lost trust with the playing group and the club overall and demanded he retire. Too many stuff ups they reckon. Morris also mentioned that Steve May was going to spend the entire season at Casey, at all costs, should he have refused the offer of retirement/pay out.

CASEY: Practice Match vs Box Hill Hawks
Agree it's nonsense. Forever and a day, clubs used the weekend between the AAMI Community practice match and round 1 to have their underdone players play in the VFL to give them a shot at senior selection for round 1. It's as if someone out there wants St Kilda to be completely match hardened and Melbourne to be rusty as can be for round 1.

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Nobody celebrates a win more and tears the joint down more after a loss than Carlton supporters. I've been to about 20 grand finals and nothing came close to the earthquake of a celebration after Carlton's 2023 semi final win over us. Collingwood have the worst set of supporters but Carlton supporters are the most emotional and irrational out of the lot.

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Goodwin apparently has a key role in their offence strategy. He'll be feeling pretty good about himself, given his mob put 75 points on the oppo in the third quarter.
