  1. Good on Geelong for standing their ground and utilising their home ground advantage. A footballing over finance decision. Doesn’t paint a rosy picture for many restrictions to ease on Thursday, if they’re already calling the interstate transfers.
  2. This game should’ve been played at the MCG irrespective of fans or no fans. We’re playing for sheep stations at the moment and playing a game at a venue that a) clearly didn’t suit us and b) where we won’t playing in September did nobody any favours. As I said during the week, we need to play as many games at the G to prefect our game plan and therefore the out of town home games need to finish, while the VIC government allows us to still play at the MCG.
  3. It’s been a great year so far but I’m getting pretty sick of not turning up against garbage sides. A clear pattern of behaviour has been established in the last 7 weeks, starting with the first 3 qtrs of the Hawks games in round 5.
  4. Jackson - 6 marks in a quarter of footy. Nice.
  5. Sounds like a typical Weideman quarter.
  6. Have we actually played a good first quarter against a bottom side this year?
  7. 1993, 1996, 1999, 2001-2019. Some of the senior citizens around here may recall if some Queens birthday games actually occurred between the two sides prior to 1990. The supposedly Queens-birthday game in 2000 when Farmer went nuts with 9 second half goals actually occurred on the Saturday afternoon of the q’Bday weekend of 2000.
  8. That’s a pretty modest amount. We must be desperate for every cent if we’re willing to sacrifice valuable MCG minutes, in preparation for finals.
  9. Any idea what sort of cheque Gladys B will be writing to us after the game? Hopefully this is the last of the relocated games this year.
  10. Clearly one of the games of the year, and the earlier North V GWS game was pretty damn good as well. An excellent day’s footy. If West Coast are to finish top 4 and go on to make a GF, I reckon they’ll look back at the Carlton win last week more so than tonight. They were not really supposed to beat Carlton with all their outs and then be on the verge of missing finals. Sure enough they won the game and now they find themselves in the top 4 mix. They’re a dangerous side with Kelly, Shuey and McGovern to return.
  11. A draw would be brilliant. I don’t want either of these mobs in the top 4. Richmond because they’re Richmond. West Coast because I don’t want to have to travel over there for a prelim.
  12. If the 25 K radius has gone by 26 June I’m more than happy to travel down to Geelong to watch us play Essendon, just to see a game live.
  13. Oh well. It was nice to have him for 5 minutes…
  14. Kents suffering effects of concussion. That game reminds me of our 2019 loss to Adelaide in Darwin. Up by 5 or 6 goals in the 3rd qtr and then couldn’t hit the side of barn door. Saints are definitely having a Melbourne esque 2019 season.
  15. His skills let him down at times but I wonder if he could be a September wild card if he somehow finds himself in the side in August? Big bodied contested player that wouldn’t be afraid of nailing the big goal in a final.
  16. Can we put all repatriation flights on hold until early October? People being allowed into the country from Corona virus riddled countries are what’s going to cost us loyal VIC’s from possibly seeing our first live premiership at the MCG in our life times.
  17. I wouldn't have thought AFL footy was one of Glady's passions in life but happy to be proven wrong.
  18. Please be 26 June.
  19. Agree with that, albeit has only played 6 games for us. If you had to choose out of Weid or Mitch Brown at selection night to provide a meaningful impact, you'd be choosing Brown.
  20. Every game at the SCG is a scrap. Was hoping the game would be at Giants Stadium. Actually I'd rather the game be at the G but we're desperate for cash.
  21. Is not that game at Kardinia park/GMHBA anyway?
  22. Fair call. And if you're a Melbournian that travels up and back for the game without incident, then best of luck to you. But I'll go with the "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" theory. Feel like we're on a very tight leash until Thursday.
  23. Hore was a solid trier in 2019 that took some really good intercept marks and his reading of the play was something that Lever would've been impressed with. But his disposal really let him down at times and I thought he was one of those players that was caught between being too good for VFL and a touch off belonging at AFL level as a week in-week out competent player. He'll be good for depth next year though.
  24. Thanks for posting the article DL5. That's a promising development in terms of having crowds for the Essendon and GWS games at the G. Zero cases today will only help this development.
  25. That's a big development. But how can someone from an outer Melbourne suburb justify breaching the 25 k limit by (driving to Tullamarine) to fly up to Sydney for a football game. Unless there are special loopholes and exemptions that Melbournians can apply for to travel to the game, I wouldn't risk it. Sounds like a 50% crowd may be allowed for the Dons V Dees games in round 15 so it might be best to wait for that.
