  1. This danger game has become even more dangerous.
  2. No thanks. I still wake up in cold sweats thinking about that game when the American kicked 5 goals against us in 2018 - and that he could do it again one day.
  3. Anyone have the inside word or care to speculate when games and crowds will return to the MCG and Marvel? I'm assuming 11 June - 17 June will be a very slight easing of restrictions such as what regional VIC are currently on. Absolutely no crowds, as per no fixtured games in VIC. 18 June - 24 June - A further step up. Will Geelong/Dogs, North/Bris and Hawks/Dons get to host a small crowd at GMHBA, Marvel or MCG? 25 June - 1 July - Will this be the week they allow restricted crowds back and therefore we can go to the Dons game? A lot of people are rightly barracking for the GWS game to be in Alice for the $800K, but crowds should be back at the G by 4 July and it would be a shame to miss out on yet another game.
  4. No not at all. Good luck to you Sydney guys for being able to attend a few games in person. However, we're the Melbourne footy club and we need to get back to the G asap, and get re-accustomed to playing at the venue where most of this year's finals will be played. This week will mark 4 matches in a row away from the G.
  5. Sounds like we'll be out of lock down on Friday. Would guess schools are back, 50% work capacity, 20 people outdoor gatherings, no house guests, masks inside, masks outside if you can't social distance. Hospitality open but capacity limits. Really hoping we can get back to the footy for the Essendon game which will be 2 weeks after the first easing of restrictions - I guess 50% capacity at best with masks. The GWS MCG game might be looking ok as that's 3 weeks away. This year's looking too special (touch wood) to be playing games in front of 3,000 people in Sydney while the rest of us are watching in our lounge.
  6. I can't disagree with any of that, except to say that they were very genuinely competitive against Port. Watching that game live at the G they never really let Port execute the game they wanted to play, (just like Adelaide never really let us in Adelaide). The largest margin Port held for the game was 13 points. My point is that there has not been one game this year where we've cruised from start to finish when playing the bottom echelon of sides and I certainly can't see that happening against Collingwood.
  7. Collingwood will cause us all sorts of problems at a tricky and tight venue. We need to treat them as a side that finished 6th last year and have been more than competitive in the last 3 weeks. We haven't been able to able to stamp our authority early in games against bottom 6 sides, and it's either caused us huge scares or indeed our only loss for the season. It's clear to me that the players aren't as mentally switched on and stimulated against the lower sides than the big guns.
  8. Yeah around that. The fact that the state of origin will dominate the marketing and headlines next weekend won't help. Has it been established what we will be earning from this game - if anything? Did we have to write out a cheque for the Lions win at Giants Stadium? They need to get COVID under control ASAP in VIC for obvious reasons.
  9. Returning Australians should be forced to do 21 days quarantine at a facility of their departure country before they jump on a plane in order to ensure they don’t test positive 15 or 16 days after possible transmission. If a facility cannot be arranged, then they don’t come back. Then they do their 14 days quarantine when arriving Australia. The majority (5 million Victorians) shouldn’t have to put their life on hold for the minority (returned traveller).
  10. On paper our forward line certainly doesn’t look as potent as 98 and 2000. Our defence however is head and shoulders above the other 3 sides. Hard to believe we made a prelim with whipping boys in O Mac and Frost leading our defence.
  11. Really hoping crowds will be allowed for our game against Essendon on 26 June. We’re onto something special this year and it’s such a shame that we have to watch the games at home. Does 4 cases a day warrant a multiple week lock down?
  12. He’s an absolute gun of a footballer and spoke well in his speech.
  13. Probably not at GHMBA in rd 23.
  14. How composed is James Jordon- for a player in his first year of senior footy? Not only is he running out games well, I now have confidence that he’ll be a key contributor come finals time.
  15. 6) Petracca 5) Gawn 4) T Mac 3) Oliver 2) Pickett 1) Harmes Spargo unlucky. Loving his season, particularly his goal assists.
  16. Pretty much spot on. I didn’t rate the GWS win as they had 4 blokes go off injured throughout the game and we couldn’t help but win the game. The Sydney and St Kilda wins were more meritorious IMO. The Dogs win was more complete but geez I’m more pumped about the Lions win.
  17. Needs to be a crisp kick for goal for a perceived highly talented key forward that has low possessions and low marks week in week out. Alas, he ain’t.
  18. How good is Charles Spargo just quietly. Produces goal assists for a living.
  19. For a key fwd that hardly gets near the ball you’d like to think he’d be crisp around goal.
  20. He’s been killing us since that day he kicked 5 goals either side of 3qtr time at the Gabba.
  21. At first glance, the crowd at Giants stadium looks about 1,000 if you’re lucky. A few people spread around the outer wing and the rest of the stadiums looks closed.
  22. I’d love to know because if it’s negligible than we may as well play this game in front of nobody at our home ground. The venue we don’t need to travel to, The venue that allows the players to sleep in their own bed. The venue where we need to bed down our game plan in preparation for finals.
  23. The game confirmed at the SCG if you believe Jon Ralph. 10,000 max you’d expect. I want to know the financial benefits of playing this game in Sydney as compared to the MCG. If the benefits are negligible than why are we hosting a game at a venue that we likely won’t playing at in September. May was well be playing it at the G, at our home ground in preparation for finals.
