  1. I reckon the Saints are a genuine chance of making a prelim this year.
  2. Should be a percentage booster. Coburg strike me as a side that isnโ€™t much chop.
  3. In the opening 33 games of the season, just 6 losing sides have scored 90 points, including tonight. Conceding 90 points in a win is too many for mine. No way would Brisbane win a final conceding 90 points.
  4. Pretty poor win by Brisbane if weโ€™re being honest. Their Coaching staff would be disappointed in giving up 90 points in modern day AFL footy.
  5. Leigh Matthews is definitely on his last legs as a commentator. Had to be told Mason Cox now wears glasses to protect his eyes, as if it was late breaking news to him.
  6. Why? Theyโ€™re our direct competition for a top 2 spot.
  7. Happily take that at this stage. Would be shattered to see him go after just 3 seasons, particularly if we don't win the flag with him this year.
  8. Looks like we're the Saturday 4:35pm kings. 3 of them in a 5 week period.
  9. They played a near perfect game against us last year at the G and I recall their highly skilled guns in Whitfield, Ward and Kelly kicking clutch goals against us. Meanwhile we weren't ourselves that day and were in the middle of a pretty ordinary 6 week period.
  10. Agree. While it's great to have heaps of prime time games for the coffers, it would also be nice to get a few traditional Saturday afternoon games during the year. The Saints round 8 game is our only genuine day game in Melbourne for the foreseeable future, and that's on Mother's day.
  11. If Carlton play Sydney on the Friday night at Marvel as expected, then we could actually play North on the Saturday given there's only two games at Marvel that weekend. But yeah - North v Melbourne are mostly Sunday games.
  12. And whoโ€™s to say they wonโ€™t go 4-2 against Brisbane, Geelong and Sydney? And whoโ€™s to say they wonโ€™t beat us at the G, a venue where weโ€™ve been quite frankly pathetic against St Kilda in recent years? IMO theyโ€™re a team on the rise and theyโ€™ve got a terrific percentage as a launching pad.
  13. Agree itโ€™s far too early to make big calls about St Kilda but thereโ€™s a bit of evidence starting to mount up. A Win over a 3-1 Fremantle in hostile territory. A win over highly likely finalist in Richmond. A dominant first half today over a side that probably wonโ€™t play finals but a team that has stated the season well nonetheless. Theyโ€™ve started the season in great fashion and Iโ€™m sure our club will be taking a bit of notice of them.
  14. Starting to think St Kilda are a chance to feature in prelim final week. Both clubs had a brief taste in 2018 and 2020 and then had down years. Why not them?
  15. Excellent result. Brisbane are probably the second best side in the league so any loss by them is a bonus.
  16. Any chance Taylor can shut up about intercept marking? Pathetic succession planning by channel 7 that BT is their premier caller post the retirements of McAvaney and Commetti. Whatโ€™s their next move? Hamish and Basil calling the 2024 GF?
  17. Why is everyone going for Brisbane? Surely we take any loss we can get from Brisbane and keep them away from top 2. I have no interest in facing Brisbane at the GABBA in a qualifying or prelim final in the event we donโ€™t finish top 2 or stuff up a home qualifying final.
  18. On the flip side we have 5 straight games away from the MCG after round 15 with only one of them being in town (Dogs at Marvel). A very uneven spread this year in terms of playing our home games at the G.
  19. Which unfortunately means we play 5 games away from the G from rounds 16 to 20 (AO, Geelong, Alice, Marvel, Optus). The total opposite of Richmond's charmed draw when they were winning flags.
  20. I love Thursday night games (one more day of footy) but not when we're involved. Much prefer to see us play on Friday night or the weekend. Hopefully this is our last Thursday night game of the year unless we're at the G.
  21. If we're being honest I reckon May's had a poor start to the season in terms of what his opponent has done on the stats sheet. Naughton - 4 goals/6 marks Casboult (of all people) - 2 goals/9 marks Wright - 4 goals/5 marks Very unlike Steve May numbers and I suspect the absence of Lever has had a say in this. On topic, I would say BBB won't be selected due to his last minute availability. Robbie Gray has been ruled out under the same circumstances. In - Lever Out - Tomlinson, Bedford (unused sub from last week)
  22. I like J Brown's idea of keeping Weid, dropping Tomlinson and putting T Mac back. I rate T Mac as a better defender than Tomlinson, and lets face it, the only good bit of footy T Mac has played all year was the half he played down back in round 1.
  23. They suspended Michael Long for 4 games. Three of which were served in the 2001 Ansett Cup.
  24. A few people have accused Carlton of not beating anyone of note. Last time I checked Bulldogs were a half handy side.
