Agree with all of that. St Kilda will end the season winning 4 of their last 5 games (they now play 3 bottom 4 sides in a row) and head into 2026 sky high with confidence, and they'll trace it back to the win over us. However in reality they had lost their prior 6 games, they were worse than putrid for 3 quarters on Sunday, and I could not believe how easy they were to play against through to 3 quarter time.

A couple of little ones. 1) a lot of Dees supporters are having a crack at St Kilda supporters for celebrating like they'd won the flag. I guarantee you we would have been carrying like pork chops if we mowed down a 46 point lead. I guarantee you Collingwood supporters would've celebrated just as hard even if they came from 46 against North or West Coast. It was just an incredible achievement to win from so far back and it's only natural for a fan of any team to go off their head after a win like that. 2) Melksham giving it to the St Kilda crowd when he put us 43 points up half way through the third should've aged well but didn't. 3) Windsor giving NWM a round of applause after he produced a rare stuff up most certainly didn't age well.

Ollie Florent was a staple for Sydney but for some reason can't get a game. I'll be annoyed if we let Fritta go. There is such thing as a career form slump and he clearly appears over that.

I tend to agree with this crowd of 9K. Seems absurd that we could get a crowd that low in modern day footy. However, we got just 8,900 in 2015 V GWS at Marvel despite the supporter fan base developing some hope and confidence in the team for the first time in years. Fast forward 10 years later and we are at an absolute low ebb in terms of disillusionment in the players, coach and club overall.

This bit has me baffled. Not only are we the most inaccurate side in the league (48%) but our opponents are a combined 58% which is the most accurate points conceded in the league - if that makes sense. Seems like the majority of weeks the oppo can't miss.

Any truth to the speculation that Harley Reid's out for this one? Add him to Oscar Allan, Waterman, Yeo, McGovern etc.... Meanwhile we'll be mentally ruined after yesterday as they return to the scene of the crime 6 days later. Yesterday I was devastated after the loss. Next week I'll just laugh if we get done.

Because it's so raw, this feels like the most humiliating loss of the lot. However, when the dust settles, the Carlton 2023 semi final loss was surely more heart-breaking than some dead rubber in round 20 where both clubs are going nowhere. I also like the nomination of the Geelong's 2018 loss where we lost after the siren. That was torture.

I’m amazed the win/loss ratio is that high.

The final play/meltdown has justifiably come under the microscope, but in reality how much better would have we all felt if we hung on for a draw after a blowing all 46 points of our unassailable lead? When NWM kicked the goal to level the score with 9 seconds left, it genuinely felt like a loss, and a draw might have wallpapered over some major cracks.

Fun fact. The Essendon no name that destroyed us in Gather Round is languishing in the Essendon magoos despite his team experiencing one of the worst injury crisis of all time. I’m tipping Collard to be the nominated “no name” of the day to kick 4 goals and be the sole difference in an 11 point win for St Kilda.

I would be very confident that if you conducted a survey of 10 MFC supporters on the train to Marvel on Sunday, at least 7 of them would predict St Kilda to win. I truly admire your optimism, but we’ve burnt far too many bridges since mid last year for many MFC supporters to be confident of an even money game such as Sunday.

That's a good point you make about Viney. Three of our four genuinely good performances of the year came against Brisbane, Sydney and Collingwood and Viney was absent in all of those games. He's then brought back in for the Port game, and the club regresses (who could forgot the dumb [censored] 50 he gave away to ruin all our momentum)

If they finish top 2 they'll win the entire thing IMO. The MCG is such an advantage to them due to the crowd factor and they usually play the ground to perfection. Can see them grinding out a win over Geelong in the qualifying final, and then knocking off Adelaide and Brisbane in the prelim and grand finals due to having 60,000 - 80,000 on their side depending on whether it's a prelim of GF. On topic, I wouldn't be surprised if we're having a look at Jye Amiss and Chol who both might be on the outer come finals.

I reckon we sort of missed Sparrow last week. The guy's not a world beater but he provides an outlet as a high half forward that can take a good contested mark on the wing to the 50m arc. He also bobs up for a 45-50 metre set shot goal on occasion. You know we've fallen to pretty deep depths of despair when most supporters are confidently predicting a St Kilda win.

Interesting that he mentioned Lever but not Trac who are both the same age. I guess the vibe is that Trac is either not seen as a leader or doesn’t want to be a leader of the MFC. Should things not work out with Lever I wouldn’t sleep on Disco if he jumps up the leadership ranks over the next couple of years and establishes himself as a staple best 23 player.

An Essendon supporter rang up Lyon on SEN this morning to congratulate him on asking some relatively tough questions on Goodwin last night, and wished the media would do the same with B Scott. I know that Lyon can't be brutal on Goodwin as they're essentially "AFL 360" colleagues, and Goodwin's doing the show a favour by sharing his AFL coaching insights. So his criticism that the club looked stale and uninspiring last week, we've lost to a bunch of nobody clubs this year, and the fact that we're not willing to change things up aside from Bowey going forward late was pretty good IMO.

Just make a uniform blanket ban. You concuss a player, you get suspended. Accidents are unacceptable. You could even extend that to TDK concussing May in his marking contest. It would save a lot of angst that we are all experiencing. The inconsistencies are atrocious. Fiorini, King and Pearce should have also been suspended for putting Petty, Whitfield and Byrne-Jones respectively into next month.

Yep. We get a massively in form Adrian Anderson, fresh off another tribunal defeat with Zac Bailey, as recently as last week.

I did some research and assumed Adrian Anderson was successful in JVR’s appeal against the Suns in 2023. Nope. He was unsuccessful at the original tribunal case. Another lawyer got him off at the appeals hearing. The bloke’s a complete failure. And we’re a complete failure for continuing to appoint him.

I know it’s not the point but he’ll only be genuinely missed for the Dogs game. He can’t play St Kilda irrespective of the suspension and lord help Goodwin if we can’t beat West Coast without May.
