i always knew it would come and understood the emotion connected to number 13 would be like nothing i have ever experienced. My hopes and dreams were high. But i have to say that 6 weeks after the fact, the feeling of greatness by far and outweighs my expectations. It is the moment that you think back to the Bailey Smiths [censored] up to Tommys nail in the coffin. It is the anecdote to fulfillment that very few things can provide. No other club has done it as hard as us and our win is better and more special than any others because of the collective loyalty and the sick state of the city. We needed it and our boys provided it. This really is the best of the 13 and we rode it gloriously.

This is crazy talk. BUT someone who was conspicuous by their absence in the Demons return to greatness was Brock McBrainless. Probably penniless. wasted and blaming the world. Nah just a general statement about whatever we say here has no bearing on the teams destiny. Thankfully On a side note I listened to the 3aw youtube replay call. They were mostly pro Footscray callers . The last 30 minutes of greatness was so salty it was beautiful. Especially the first hatrick in a minute when they were going on about missed frees etc. Magnificent.

One thing this year has taught me is there are no omens, pre game rituals, posts on internet etc that will ever change the course of a game or a clubs destiny. For years I always stood here until we lost or never sat there because we always lose when I sat there etc Ultimately it did not matter where I stood or sat we mostly loss because we were not much chop. Now this year I have done nothing much different to the era of shytness and we won the flag. It's nothing supernatural that has an effect on the game. It is the fact that we now have probably 8 of the best all time 10 MFC players since 64 playing in the one team, we are as fit as they come and well coached. No need to stress about a post tempting fate. It doesnt work like that. It has about as much cred as going to church on a Sunday. Stress less and live the dream.

Throughout the 175 years our great club has never been a one every 10 years sort of club. More like a 6 in 10 years, then none in 57 sort of deal. As the title says I predict with a fair amount of certainty that we will have won the most VFL / AFL premierships by the end of this decade. We are on 13 now, Ess and Carl leading with 16. This is doable with a decade of our current boys.

Where is my credit, where credit is due?

I was there when Fitzroy kicked the highest score against us. I was there in 87. U was there in 88. I have been bruised, battered and emotionally scarred for 47 years. And it was all more than worth it. This is no normal premiership. This is 57 years. This is 13/. This is 16 of the last goals. This is the greatest sweetest feeling a Melbourne man could have. The agony has made it sweeter. We have done this together my friends. I am 47 . I have seen all my friends win flags, hang crapm on us, and no one even know anything like what we have been through. To my Demons friends, family we have just witnessed the best of all 13. We are back. We will be envied and it our party. Congratulations every single on of us. No-one understands the sweetness like us hardcore folk. A new world starts tomorrow and that feels amazing

I liked Joe and he really did so much for the club in its time of need. The racial vilification he received at the time from all and sundry including those within the club was vile (especially during the merger scam) and would not have been possible in todays world - Thankfully. I saw Bill Guest on 360. If I remember correctly he bought up a number of memberships for his staff to pass on proxies to vote pro merger. Such was the elitist goons running the joint at the time. What a crock of [censored] . Thanks Joe, for all of your short comings you are a real Demon legend. Would like to see him get some recognition somewhere if we bring home the big one. I was at Dallas Brooks Hall that night and it certainly was never a pro merger vibe. I am so proud of where we are at now. A real club with real values and hopefully a 13th cup.
