GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
The dream is OVER.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
That B Taylor needs to shut completely up. He called Hunt Langdon. He continually barracks for any and all opposition sides against Melbourne. He adds no intelligent commentary. He never comments on poor umpiring decisions when they go against Melbourne.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Gold Coast
I want Rowell. Don’t care about contracts. Just do it!

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Western Bulldogs
He never was. Hard worker but often bombs it resulting in a turnover or gets caught holding the ball.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 v Gold Coast Part 1
Casey have completely given up. Huge turnaround.

What’s Behind Our Form Slump
It’s nothing to do with anything the press is saying. The guys were enjoying their footy. They were having fun. Now they’re not. That’s all. Nothing else. Zilch. And they were doing it TOGETHER!!!

CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Gold Coast
Harmes, ANB were not the problem. They’re favourite whipping boys on this blog site. Gawn, Petracca, Oliver were bombing the ball all over the place. The team wasn’t playing as a team. Nobody was sticking to Bontempelli. As he did last year and in the preseason he predictably tore us a new one in the last quarter when the game was there to be won. Poor coaching and poor player awareness.

GAMEDAY: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
We have been found out towards the end of the season. The usual MFC pathetic end.

GAMEDAY: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Big umpire cheating now.

GAMEDAY: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
This game is going exactly as I predicted. Melbourne playing with zero pressure on the opponents and bombing it to no one. 2 goals in a half is absolutely pathetic.

2004 boys, time to read the Riot Act.
“Reading the riot act” or similar won’t work on mentally fragile layers. It will just put more performance anxiety into their brains. Somehow they need to get back to enjoying their footy, by thrashing some teams with superior skills, tackling like crazy, top line positioning and decision-making and accurate goal-kicking. The calm build-up approach with accurate kicking to non-contests and switching the side of the ground was absent in the latter two quarters against Hawthorn when the players appeared to panic and reverted to 2019-2020 habits.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
We beat them by 50 odd points!

The trade Jack Viney thread
Our forwards don’t seem to time their leads toward the centre from back in the goal square nearly well enough, nor do they spread well enough. Jason Dunstall was an expert at timing his lead. He also rarely missed the goals. Perhaps they should watch a few videos of him! Tom Mac is the one who does it sometimes. We often see our forwards lead in a pack together and the ball goes over the tips of their fingers. And missing the goals frequently from set shots is just hopeless for an AFL forward.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
The guys looked less like they were having fun playing last night. Earlier in the season they seemed to be enjoying the game and playing for each other. Don’t forget we thrashed Hawthorn once this year. Hopefully they can work out what they’re doing wrong from these losses to crap teams and change it before we get to the finals.

My Round 17 Preview and Prediction
Port by 40 points plus.

The way I see it
There’s never a guarantee to ‘build on’ the previous year. At all. Look at Adelaide after their grand final appearance a few years ago and Fremantle. The time is NOW.

CHANGES: Rd 17 vs Port Adelaide
BB played well the week before in the VFL. He kicked 5 goals. This week he was 50% on the bench. That wasn’t his call!!!
-
Time to panic?
None of our forwards really dropped into the space in the forward line to allow the connection with the player streaming forward like Hunt.

Are the Demons pretenders?
Our “youth” has been quoted every year since 1964 as an excuse for losing. When will we ‘grow up’? Also, the MFC teams of the 1950s had many very young players in them. Absolute stars who played as a team.

Are the Demons pretenders?
Defence in Australia. Defense in the USA.

Are the Demons pretenders?
Ben Brown had a very good game last week for Casey when he kicked five goals. That’s what his selection should have been based on. Not this week when he was on the bench for half the game, being prepared for next week to return to the seniors.

CHANGES: Rd 17 vs Port Adelaide
He’s not match fit. Not used to the pace, hasn’t played footy for ages.
