The Melbourne Football Club has been a huge disappointment since we won the flag in 2021. We’ve had a very good list, who have underperformed due to (well we all know but we can’t say on this chat group). Plus we lost Brayshaw due to a total thug act and Petracca for some time to another thug act which has been glossed over. The same player did it again soon after. A huge man kneeing you in the lower ribs/spleen area is bound to result in a splenic injury. There is a duty of care and that was lacking. A lack of discipline has been very evident. This includes alleged off field behaviour by several players and the coach and also by Pickett on field. We’ve missed our chance at more premierships with a cohesive disciplined group of players. Which we don’t have. But we could have. The leadership of the club and the individual responsibility of the players and coach have been lacking in the extreme. To now say everything will be rosy this year is incomprehensible. And total nonsense.
The MFC players were like witches’ hats in that game. The taller Freo team absolutely ran rings around our boys who were out of position at every (non) contest.
We’ve only had three straight finals exits. And one was by one kick: Viney kicked it straight to a Carlton forward in the forward line for a goal to win the game.
It amazes me how posters on here claim to be ‘experts’ on the draft picks. Did you all attend junior footy matches galore???? Have we picked another Toumpas, Cale Morton or Gysberts? You wouldn’t have a clue.
They both had to fall on their swords due to media crucifixion. These people have other jobs to go to, including retirement! When the BS gets too much they leave. This is not their whole life!
So the news media are perfect and the club is no good? What a load of garbage. Why don’t you go and support another club! Or maybe you do and you’re just on here to dig the boots into our club. If you don’t like what’s happening at the club do something about it! Get involved in the club! Don’t just sit tapping on your keyboard at home and saying the club is “dysfunctional”. That doesn’t help anything!
It amazes me how much power the news media has to influence our club leadership, players and members. People who have no love for MFC like Sam McLure, Gerard Whately and Kane Cornes amongst others in the media have done untold damage to our club over the past three years by promoting innuendo, rumours and manufactured nonsense. We need to band together like a strong family against the rest of the football world instead of internally bickering and destroying our own club because of this foolish external [censored].
Chris Scott is often shown during games on the big screen at Kardinia Park pulling faces and gesticulating about umpiring decisions he disagrees with. I find this annoying and I’m surprised he’s allowed by the AFL to get away with it.
She felt it was ok she had not spoke directly to Petracca despite the media attention and the massive injury. She spoke management speak. She appeared to have no understanding of the problems at the club neither on or off field or was in total denial. The interview was an acknowledgement of a failure as a leader, even though she didn’t realise it at the time. It was obvious to everyone else who heard the interview.
She was gone after the interview with Gerard Whately on SEN.

I’m 65 years old and so sick of Melbourne losing to these Collingwood scum with their smug faces. Yes we’ve re signed Viney, Gawn and we have been told Oliver and Petracca are in for the long haul. Boomer was fair dinkum. Viney, Gawn and Petracca are fair dinkum and Oliver is being supported through some personal difficulties by his loyal club.
He was still in his peak as a player and I’m talking about a leader of the club. Leadership, hero worship and loyalty play part in culture. It’s not just about pure playing ability.
You clearly have no understanding of leadership, hero worship and loyalty. Look at what happened to North Melbourne when they dumped Boomer Harvey early.
What sort of complete [censored] writes this about Viney whose leadership is not in question at all?
What an absolute hero of the club. The heart and soul of the MFC. A true leader!
