North came close to beating Colonwood last week, hindered by the usual umpire cheating and incompetence. Melbourne were thrashed by the same team. I do not gamble. But it is very tempting to put $1000 on North to win this one, given MFC’s meltdown over the past month.

It’s much more complex than that. The game plan is all wrong and needs a major overhaul. How can the midfielders deliver if the forward line is always flooded by the other team’s backs and midfielders and forwards??? We delay delay and then kick it in when the 50 is flooded with the opposition backs. Or we get it out over the back of the flood occasionally but there’s nobody there in the forward fifty to kick it to because we’re flooding back into their fifty to defend and have left no forwards in any position to kick to,

1. MFC has the wrong game plan at present. If the ball gets ‘over the back’ there’s nobody there to kick to in the forward fifty. Now it’s Petracca. Last year it was Brayshaw. For several years it has been Max Gawn. I hope Petracca has not injured a kidney or his spleen as that targeted knee could well do a major internal injury. 6. For three years now we’ve been kicking points instead of goals and losing games as a consequence. TIME TO CHANGE THE GAME PLAN BADLOSS!!!!

There was a wonderful moment late in the last quarter where Clarrie ran to the bench after a magnificent goal assist effort.
