I just worked out it downloaded to the book thingy on my mac... you can control the font size so its down to 210 pages...anyway what I am enjoying about it is the conjecture early on about our structures and how they were to go for the rest of the season and the  praise given to Goodwin for his tactical acumen.

eg: Referencing the first match against The Dogs.

“THE TACTIC NO ONE WILL TALK ABOUT

This was a really sneaky little move by Simon Goodwin and his coaching crew, and I hope that someone highlights it as part of their TV reviews. If you’ve got the game recorded, you can do it, yourself.

When the Dogs had the footy in their back half and were looking to switch it, I want you to concentrate on the Melbourne player given the responsibility to leave just enough space between him and the next defender in the line to tempt the switch.

That player was Kysaiah Pickett, and with his closing speed, all it took was one slightly wayward kick to create a pressure situation out of what would normally be a standard two kicks across the defensive fifty to open up the game.

Pickett managed to create a bit of havoc, forcing the next defender in the chain to kick hurriedly out of defence, often to a contest and rarely displaying any composure. The rest of the Demon forwards would press up to create congestion across half forward and the middle, leaving Pickett to work back and man the switch.

A great move by Goodwin - bloody intelligent.”

Excerpt From: Brett Meyers. “The Mongrel Punt: Melbourne Demons, Year in Review - 2021.” Apple Books.

Oliver was doing the same on Bont in the second half. Not playing shoulder to shoulder but just making sure if Bont went forward that he was close enough to take him on in the air or on the ground.

He is average or the Hawks would not be looking to off load him.

The Hawks off loaded Clarkson, I don't think they know what they are doing.

Much prefer the Cup to stand alone without attachment to someone’s name even the Great Man. Just dislike naming things after folks alive or dead. I know we have the Brownlow and the Norm Smith. The Brownlow has a rich history going back over a long time but dislike the idea of naming the Cup. It should speak to all supporters of all clubs in all States that play AFL.

The Cup is a timeless trophy even eternal and needs no attachment to material things or for that matter, human beings.

I want every award named after Melbourne even the Daisy Peirce medal in the AFLW

Fritsch is too high. He wasn’t better than the other 6 Dees this year. More like 40th, maybe the 5-6th best goal kicking forward

Lever was better than May this year.

Gawn not top 5 either. Somewhere between 10-20. He’s had better seasons. Paced himself this year.

I've never been alive for a premiership before but since I have you are definately the most negative poster.

    Coaches votes were:

        QF PF  GF
    Petracca 7 6 10 23
    Oliver 10 4 5 19
    Gawn  1 10 0 11
    Salem 0 6 2 8

Lever had 3 vs Lions, Viney had 3 vs Cats and there was a few 1 votes for other dees.

Oliver is stiff to only get 5 coaches votes in the grand final. I would normally say I must have been watching a different game but given I have watched the replay enough times it amazes me.

Admins please note that I’m not encouraging anyone to bet, just providing the first 2022 premiership market as an item of public interest -

    $5.00 Melbourne

    $7.00 Western Bulldogs

    $8.00 Brisbane

    $9.00 Geelong, Port Adelaide

    $11.00 Richmond, Sydney

$15.00 West Coast $17.00 GWS Giants $21.00 St Kilda

    $26.00 Fremantle, Essendon

    $34.00 Carlton

    $67.00 Adelaide, Collingwood

    $81.00 Hawthorn, Gold Coast

    $101.00 North Melbourne

I would be laying Geelong at $9, particularly after just giving Chris Scott another contract.

  7. That was on my birthday and my wife booked tickets for the game and a hotel in Geelong for the night. Worst faarken birthday ever. Standing behind the goals with a cousin who lives in and barracks for Geelong watching the ball fly over our heads over and over again and my cousin checking phone to advise me if it was going to be a record margin and updating me constantly.

Just to be clear my wife is not my cousin they were both there.

I was hoping the footy club would send at least one out for each membership to make up for us missing the Grand Final and games. I know COVID has hit the club hard and this is just an extra cost but the merchandise windfall surely would make this small token of appreciation to members a possibility.

This is not intended as a knock on the club just a thought.

@Gary Pert, when we all watch the replay on the big screen at the MCG, maybe we could have badges handed out with members names on them. Like when we pick up membership scalves at the beginning of normal seasons  It's a lot more logistically difficult but can be done.

  9. I know what the club think internally of Chandler and they love him.

It wouldn't surprise me if he comes in for T Mac next year and we just play Jackson or Gawn as resting forward with Big Ben Brown as the leading target and let the smalls wreak havoc.
