  1. The holding the ball non-call was the one that killed the game for us. We could have steadied from that position and held on. Was a brilliant tackle and should be exactly what the AFL use as the perfect example of a player trying to break away and then getting tackled. The deliberate out of bounds was bad but a lot harder to call at that stage of the game and at that position on the ground
  2. There’s a couple of blokes who ride the coattails of others in our side. Reckon they will be a tad nervous this week. This was probably something that had been brewing since Richmond, teams are putting time into us and we got away with it against North and Carlton but Adelaide brought the heat for the entire game with a big and patriotic crowd behind them. Need to cop this on the chin, stop drinking the bath water and get back to what made us tick in the first 6 weeks
  3. Reckon the club has had it's hands full trying to get all things you listed under control, not just the home base!

He's got too much talent to be wasting away in the 2nds at Geelong, would like to see him gain confidence through some consistent game time. Is a WA boy from memory, so would make sense that he becomes involved in the Cerra trade
  5. As mentioned, May and Langdon are key pillars of our structure. I rate May really, really highly but would almost argue that Langdon has done more to help with our new found confidence than any player. He covers so much ground and his positioning is first class. The Max at the Bulldogs point is interesting, however I think we have adopted the Hawthorn model of placing less emphasis on centre clearances and the coaches are being a little coy about it
  6. He has been huge for this club. Copped his whack early and went about gaining the trust and admiration of the entire club. I am massive on him
  7. Reckon T-Mac owes Brown at least 2 goals from today where he picked his pocket. Weid provided some big contests in the first half including a big grab deep in the Carlton forward half. The mix of T-Mac, Brown and Weid will be very difficult to nut out as there were multiple occasions where they led to the same spot and spoiled each other. Also, not sure why it happened but what was Max doing drifting back in front of them?
  8. He’s got real competition now so he’ll have to perform every week, just like everyone else. Melksham has been in the gun for me for the best part of 2 years now but he still contributed something last week. Fritsch has to contribute to stay in as we should have a lot more avenues to goal now.
  9. Big test today. Been a little off the past couple of weeks, need to get back on a roll and control the game
  10. If Fritsch and Melk are both down, they are liabilities. Fritsch will want to pull his finger out
  11. I just want to see Weid hitting the ball at full steam with a couple of huge pack-crunching contests. He has the ability and has the form. Now I just hope he strings together a half a season that leads us deep into September
  12. I am more than happy for the permanent base to be Casey, just that a lot on here and within the club are not
  13. Funny how every other club across the codes has the facility as the highest priority and will sacrifice location for it. Not us, we’ll settle for sub-standard facilities as long as we are within reach of the MCG. We are on a long road to nowhere
  14. I am on board with resting players, however I lean towards it being more mental than physical. At this point of the season we can probably get away with mid week resting. Over the course of a year, fitness drops off as recovery is the priority midweek. Definitely need to ramp up training to prepare for finals
  15. I commented on that one in the gameday thread. It is a pet hate of mine - players just drop the ball and get rewarded for holding the man against or in the back in this instance. Hayward definitely locked Jake's arm in and pulled him forward on top of himself Lever did exceptionally well to remain as calm as he did.
  16. I get excited when he is involved because he is a very, very smart operator. He is always positioning himself in ways that are setting up others and his creativity and execution is first class
  17. That dropping the ball thing is atrocious
  18. He’s turned into the ANB of years gone by, always present but never doing anything useful
  19. I believe Sparrow has gone past Harmes, would be disappointed if Harmes comes in
  20. Not strictly related to the website but club merch is bloody ordinary. I haven't looked at club merch in years and thought I could tip some cash in with a purchase, surely there is plenty more in the same boat
  21. I agree. Harmes should not be in the conversation after 1 VFL Hitout. I reckon Sparrow is far more useful and team orientated
  22. If Weid leaves it would be a disaster. Understand the need to play for the now but I doubt anyone believes T-Mac holds this form/stays injury free for the whole year. He simply has to come in over the next week or two.
  23. Without any knowledge, there is a good chance he is a bit banged up - he doesn't shirk a contest, that's for sure
  24. Jones and Melk playing VFL and Rivers out according to @Dannyz mail, so there could be more changes to come along with Brown. I'd like to see Bedford or Chandler get a guernsey. Harmes could not have injured himself at a worse time, he will (should) be pushing [censored] uphill to get back into the side.
  25. I (and the club) never would have expected Weid and Brown to succumb to injuries before we begun. The T-Mac wing role was probably a last straw type deal. I doubt the club ever considered this scenario occurring but it really is a conundrum. For the latter half of the year, I believe Weid and Ben Brown are more important than T-Mac, however I commend him for making it difficult to get them in. He’s had a great start. Still believe we need to roll guys through in the middle third of the year so we have every base covered for a proper tilt at finals and going deep in them I worry about Jones just going, Melky will have one good game and 6 nothing games. Feel like those 2 are the obvious targets to go out, but as mentioned their positions would mean a definite shift in structure/setup
