  1. I think there will be too much interest in those three for us to have a chance - no picks, not enough cash, so best look elsewhere
  2. That’s where he’s playing currently, from what I’ve heard, he was recruited as a forward-mid and played all his junior footy there in outside roles
  3. Anyone got any interest in Sam Petrevski-Seton from Carlton? Forward-mid that could potentially add some outside run and carry to our mix. In contract for 2021 but he’s got some tricks
  4. There’s a lot on this list who are simply not up to it. I’d be all for wholesale changes to find a few that may surprise us - we have nothing to lose because we are getting very little from 90% of the list. Of the above, I’d move Melksham, Hannan and VDB down a rung. They are good 1 in every 4-5 weeks. That’s simply not enough. Even if I don’t necessarily agree with Goody’s methods, the bare minimum to be an AFL player should be to turn up and give 100% every week. He’s got an impossible task with such inconsistent effort. We need to get a core group of players who have confidence and belief in their ability. Our guys turn to water as soon as any heat comes. Maybe we need to invest in psychologists and teachers
  5. Understand that completely, but both of Fritsch and Melksham don’t do it and they don’t seem to be judged on that alone
  6. This is one of my pet hates, we need different types all across the ground, not robots cut from the same mould in different heights and weight. Goodwin is particularly fond of the boring inside types and we play a style of footy that reflects it. Aside from Petracca occasionally, who else can break a game open with creativity and flair alone? in the period where Goodwin is coaching, any individual excitement has been coached out of our players and it is so sad to watch. We make the game so bloody difficult, so a half-fit Harley getting 15 high quality touches could be the only that gives supporters a reason to tune in next year.
  7. He’s just not strong enough now that opposition coaches actually plan around him being there. He misses so many shots on goal that a permanent forward should make, it’s getting ridiculous. I’ve said previously that we have far too many passengers and he’s been one, so maybe he’s not in the boys club that gets spoken about regularly? Plus, the late to meeting thing sounds so bizarre, there has to be something in it?
  8. Harley at 80% has them both covered, just need to get him there
  9. What do we get of value for players that haven’t got games, in a team that’s been absolutely putrid, for 1 1/2 seasons?
  10. The way both have been going this year, he could take either spot depending on form. Demonland is often very accepting of poor form with Jake Melksham being the prime example. I got shut down for saying Shaun Higgins was a better footballer than Jones and the same will happen here, Gunston is an upgrade on Melksham and Fritsch. We need people that can perform for the majority of game time over continuous seasons. Melksham and Fritta don’t and haven’t done that as yet. They need competition for their spots too and Gunston is a smart operator, he’s had days out against us on a lot of occasions.
  11. I think next season will still be compromised in some sense and if nothing else, the disruption to his family wouldn’t be worth it. I certainly would not have picked him this year, let alone next, but if the club thinks he’s adding something different to anyone else, that’s on them. If we were a strong club depth wise, there’s no way he played this year.
  12. That 10-20 bracket should be easily interchangeable too, our list is not there yet, but our supporter base genuinely believe it is. The amount of passengers we carry each week is infuriating, after each game we have a list of 4-5 easy changes and more that seem to avoid scrutiny (Melksham)
  13. We can’t expect to be a real threat until we can get consistent effort across the park. A lot of passengers each week and it costs us too often, this week we got off lucky
  14. Extraordinary how many of our blokes are not contributing
  15. Hasn’t exactly brought in 6 that will improve the side though, has he?
  16. With the season and possibly Goody’s career on the line, this is a mind boggling selection.
  17. If we had Hogan, Weid, Jacko and Gawny in the same side, there would be very few teams who could contain us. Hoges and Jacko can play as mids/forwards, Weid stays within 40m of goal and Gawny can rotate through the forward pocket. Still don’t think it’s the way to go, but I could be talking myself into it.
  18. If you got him for half his wage, you'd have to think very hard about it. Can kick the footy, is a lefty which would work beautifully with Langdon on the other wing. He regularly get's more possessions than half a dozen of our guys combined. I'm sure I have seen elsewhere that he's not being dropped for form, possibly a clash with Shaw.
  19. The romance of Hogan working around our current group does really get me. I have mentioned numerous times that we have a very vanilla group and so many players that are all similar size, pace and ability. Jesse as a pinch hitting onballer and mobile forward would be what i think we could desperately use. He's got the ability to be a permanent onballer but can also kick 50 a year, that's wet dream material. Unfortunately I also hated him cracking the [censored] when things didn't go his way and dropping his head. So I'd lean towards no. If he had a positive twin brother, I'd almost do anything to get him
  20. I agree with this generally, if you’ve got control of the ball, you’ve got control of the game. In this instance tackling or pressure acts mean very little. Where it hurts us is even when on song, we don’t really have control of a game long enough to rely on it. We win a game in a quarter at present, we are just not skilled enough, disciplined enough or determined enough to control a game from start to finish @58er There is little doubt Fritta picks and chooses when to contest, but you can cop that if he’s nailing his goals. The examples of Gunston and Breust were good ones, neither of those two are hard at it. They rely on finding space and previously had some beautiful field kicks who could find them. No surprise they have both dropped of significantly without being spoon fed by Burgoyne, Mitchell, Lewis etc
  21. The players that are costing us games by playing this way are all in the most important positions on the field. It should be extremely concerning that Brayshaw, Petracca and Oliver can all have 'off' days on the same day. No surprise the dogs absolutely destroyed us in the middle. It's not a bad opportunity to make an example of someone, given the game is so important for his career. Not a token change, a real strong one, send a wake up call to the whole list
  22. I think Fritta is a little too comfortable. He doesn't really have any challengers for his position and the other bloke playing a similar role is in a horrible form slump (Melksham). He's also a fairly easy match up for opposition defenders, you just sit goal side of him and let him lead away from contact for his low percentage shots. He is having 4-6 shots a week, but if he's only making 1-2 of them, it isn't going to be the difference between a win or loss. The issue I have with Harmes, Viney or Jones as permanent forwards is that none of them have any tricks. With zones, there is always plenty of players around the contest and those three can't regularly manufacture goals on their own in the way a Papley, Butler, Rioli, Henry, Cameron, Miers or Bolton could. Not one of them has an elite side step, pace or leap. Wallis on the weekend was a good example, he had plenty of space to operate due to the speed the dogs transitioned and he was absolutely sensational in the way he used his brain to beat opponents - Through strength, body position and timing
  23. I know it's not related to Spargo, but I often wonder if you can have a proper setup around stoppages with Viney there. His endeavour can't be questioned, but he will try to barge through everything in sight. There were a number of occasions on the weekend where he cleaned up or ran into his own teammates
  24. No doubt our best is very good, but we've probably only seen it for 6 quarters in over 18 months. If the plan only works that little, there is something wrong with the plan
