What about losing one pocket at either end, with a 2 man FF line and 3 man flank. Or some kind of rolling 5 man’s forward setup. That would open up space and reduce 3rd man up

I haven’t watched the video yet, but it’s very common for people who are a little different to the stereotypical footballer to be ostracised. Can imagine Glen Archer and BBB not seeing eye to eye because one’s a footballer only and the other has a reasonable IQ

Who Will We Dislodge from the 2020 Final Eight?
BW511 replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Think the top 5 from 2020 are a level above the rest, however there has never been a bigger leg up given than Brisbane this year. Dogs, Pies, Saints obvious ones to try and surpass. Brisbane are potentially vulnerable. Having said that, I think West Coast will improve next year. They had a horror run away from home which won’t happen again. Richmond, West Coast, Port, Geelong would be my only guarantees at making the 8. We would be in the next group which contains 6-7 teams that could all make it. My hope is we charge on forward and push the top 4 - more realistic expectation is are fighting for a spot in the 8 until the very last round, same as 2020. Just Hope game time gets longer again and Benny Brown can give North the bird by kicking 40+ -
There was absolutely no way the pies and Treloar could have gone on next year

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
BW511 replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolute bargain. When does Coleman medal betting open, he's a big chance -
Tend to agree that he can play a role, but I think he believes he is above that. He seems to always be trying to pull off the impossible. \I hope we are strong enough that he doesn't have a permanent spot for 2021, it was bewildering that he played every game

Everyone can bash Dodo, but he's been kissed on the D$%# this trade period
-
We are not bringing in Whitfield & Kelly together (or equivalent), no chance on earth. A third of our starting 18 are plodders, so we probably could do with more upgrades than 2 stars

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
BW511 replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
But if the end result is the same, is the reasoning that important? Let's not forget Cameron is multiple first rounders and some, they are asking for much, much more than the Roos. Brown on the wide open spaces of the MCG is better prospect than Cameron at the narrow confines of Geelong. -
Think this is a much better option than Treloar, but I'd rather get 2-3 starting 22 players than one big fish. We are still light on for quality

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
BW511 replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the Jeremy Cameron vs Ben Brown comparison means we are still getting a bargain if it costs the equivalent of #14 or thereabout -
The long game strategy is an interesting one when you would think Bartlett, Pert, Mahoney, Richardson and Goodwin are all very much tied to exceptional results in the next 12 months. There must be a big fish we are loading up for next year but the ship may have sailed by then
-
I don’t think you’d really have to worry, he’s a 5 game per year prospect at best. He’s lucky to get 10 touches a game
-
Speaking of BigFooty, the talk there was that Lachie Hunter had a 4 week ‘2nd strike’ rest early in the year. Think there’s definitely a bit of a party culture out west, but good luck to them

Maybe we should enquire about Butler ?

Swiss Cheese Demons by Matt Rendell
BW511 replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Plus, only 2-3 on the list would likely play every week. -
May can do it, but he needs to be making the kick 45m-60m from our defensive goal, which he rarely gets the chance to do
-
I like Salem as a player, but if I could have Saad or Houli instead, I’m taking it every day of the week. My point was less about Salem, more about the type of player. We are not a team which springboards from defence with precise and damaging field kicks. It is an area we could improve
-
The Salem one is interesting, no doubt he’s a good player, but if we had a more line breaking/attacking version like Saad for instance, we would be a much tougher side to match up against. We have running backs, but we could do with some more attacking backs. Tom Stewart or Shannon Hurn type that sets up all the play with bold and smart kicking.

Speaking of Lockhart, anyone with inside information on where the hell he disappeared too? Few people on here got upset with him laughing within games - maybe the FD wanted to make him a scapegoat?
-
And Merrett is a very neat kick
-
It’s an interesting point and probably reiterates the way the team plays from week to week. I am sure plenty of teams have [censored] off guys running around each week, but the best teams are able to continue to perform around it. It wouldn’t be the first time in history that a coach is chummy with a few guys and pretty nonchalant about the rest of the group. I’m sure anyone who has played a bit has experienced it first hand. You’d just expect better from a bloke at the highest level
-
Rohan plays as a hit up link man, exactly what Jacko will be doing this year. No thanks
-
He’s been shunted to HFF and rotating ruck, I’d leave too. He is a gun onballer, not a makeshift ruckman
-
As mentioned, the issue with Tom is he won't fit in the 22, even if he does get fit and lean. Very expensive backup player to have on the books
