A tall flanker that plays like a forward would be spectacular, where do we sign?

He has to be given a chance, purely because he’s got some confidence up. Neither of JVR & Fritta are attacking the ball in a way that suggests they think they will mark it. Goody’s stubbornness at selection could well be the thing that undoes him.
  3. So as everyone is suggesting/seeing, the tail is wagging the dog. Appreciate you responding

An interesting little tidbit from Goody’s post match presser, he mentioned we went to Geelong and tried to take away ‘some of their game’. The pile on around the uncontested marks will come all week, deservedly so. Of all teams, Geelong is not the one you hand the ball to at will. Has a coaching group ever got something so wrong, tactically?

Top 5 ball winners today for GWS, wouldn’t be many wasted possessions between them - what a glorious luxury.
  6. @goodwindees seeing you often have good mail, what’s the mood like behind the scenes with the on ball group. Seems like they are very resistant to change

I don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors but we are absolutely devoid of confidence and this was evident from Round 1. Track watchers were praising the dare and dash displayed all summer and yet we’ve barely made it to the start gate. We are witnessing one of the greatest falls from grace in sporting history

Not a lot of desire here, seems like we are in honourable loss territory

What are the odds of Kossie being a little over-enthusiastic and getting suspended again? I can feel it happening
  10. What was true in Under 10’s is still true now, it is not conducive to performance to be sitting around waiting, particularly when it’s cold
  11. Pretty tough ask to sit in the cold and watch for 3/4 and then have an impact?

They also clearly believe in where they are going and what it takes to get there, that is enormous. The efforts from our leaders in 2025 suggest there is a very serious disconnect, this isn’t about poor form it’s a complete lack of buy in

There’s been numerous comments (possibly @Pennant St Dee ) About his knees being absolutely shot.

I can absolutely see the merit of it from a purely competitive position but contest and defence is the least sexy thing in AFL. A very large portion of this board is died on supporters lamenting our boring and negative style.

I doubt the Pies care about that. They have been ‘too old’ for years and it’s not stopped them yet We are in danger of becoming very St Kilda like

I think the Pies could bottom out and quickly skip back past us. They never have trouble attracting players and will forever be a destination club. If we go full rebuild mode, it could well be the death of the club. With an aging supporter base and a gameplan that is not attractive for the next generation, things could get very dark, very quickly. To win games now and in the foreseeable future, we are more reliant than ever on Trac/Gawn/May being fit and heavily involved. By the end of 2027 I doubt we have any of those three playing, without even considering Clarry & Pickett.
  17. Trac looked noticeably white in the face and quite unhappy all day. I’m no doctor but he wasn’t a picture of health
  18. Today was a classic example of one team wanting to win more - North were running harder, tackling harder (sticking them) and more disciplined. They didn’t exactly shoot the lights out with any part of the game but they came with a much larger appetite for the battle
  19. He’s now going by Chol’s Royce, from the Hawks fans
  20. Perfect chance to give Gawny reduced minutes at the least.
  21. @binman, I’m sure you’ve heard this but there is plenty of good insight into the way the game is shifting, tactically.
  22. It would be fun to see him steamroll a few blokes on a lead, in a way that our current forwards don’t. I would say the end is coming quite quickly for May, so playing him up forward will only speed up that process.

I agree entirely. I think I’ve mentioned it a few times over the years - we have to work far too hard to create a scoring opportunity and when we get the chance, we are absolutely cooked.

Our forward line game plan is still based on defence first. Koz might be the only one who gets a license to do as he pleases. It’s very hard to be defensively minded and create opportunistic crumbing goals

Watching on TV, I remember it happening and definitely thought it was crude. Not surprised he was cited
