Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
I’m saying the same thing, just noting it would be quite hypocritical if he left when change was finally coming

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Agree with this assessment, if Goody got us to 4 GF’s in a decade, we wouldn’t be here today. As supporters, I am sure we would have much preferred being runner up in ‘22 & ‘23 vs our straight sets exit. Sydney failed in GF’s multiple times but have a lot more finals wins to get there than we do

This is quite hilarious

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
I’m really interested to see what Trac does here, he desperately wanted change, it’s now come but possibly not in the cosy way he imagined. He’s now in a real bind, if he walks he’s basically blown up the club for nothing and if he stays, he’s likely playing out his career in the lower half of the ladder.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
You can see why Longmire is so appealing, he is a strong personality and has worked in/created one of the best run operations in the game. You’d have to go back a long time to find Sydney sides that weren’t competitive at the very least.

Trade Targets
If Nasiah walks, he’s likely a walk up start next year. That may not happen elsewhere

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Pretty sure Longmire is still firmly entrenched at Sydney, doubt he moves to Melbourne to start from scratch. I’d like someone fresh, give every player a clean slate and get some energy back into the place. I’m looking at the assistants mentioned over Simmo, Horse, Buckley etc

Judd McVee Contract
I wonder if it is coach based? There’s got to be a lot of uncertainty behind the scenes at the minute, not exactly the time to be announcing signings

The Brody Mihocek Thread
This would be astonishing if a favourite son was pushed out in favour of a third generation Carlton family member. I’d take him for sure, think he’d be great for two years with an option to be involved at club level after. He’s as blue collar as they come

From anger to action: A call for constructive feedback to leadership
I’ve been a dees supporter for multiple decades, care of the matriarch of our family. She bleeds red and blue. In my lifetime, I’ve got memories of the period of time around the 2000’s and this recent patch leading to the 2021 flag. Said matriarch was around for the successful period in the 50’s and 60’s as a young girl and then spent a lot of time and effort supporting the Dees through decades of barely existing, at best. I worked out pretty early on that really caring about this club was a road that lead nowhere. The first thing I would like the club to do is kill off the ‘holier than thou’ & entitled stereotype. The snow jokes, the cheese boards, wine and the wealth have become our actual identity. We are exactly what we are portrayed as and for a hell of a lot of the football population, it’s something they either can’t or don’t want to relate to - But you bet your bottom dollar that they all take great pride in ‘putting us back in our place’. @Clintosaurus has been like a dog with a bone regarding the media narrative and even though it’s tiresome, it’s still a reflection on how everyone else perceives Melbourne. Max goes on the radio and talks about all the exclusive memberships he has and saying he’s become a proper Melbourne [censored]. He’s trying to be jovial and joke but it’s reflective of the club culture and it’s very real. You can’t begrudge him for enjoying his life and all that comes with it but he is exactly what he’s joking about. In my opinion, the majority of the MFC from board all the way through to supporters genuinely believe they are better than everyone else and it’s possibly the biggest lie in sporting history. This period is particularly frustrating and I think what differs now is most supporters, no matter how long for, are genuinely terrified of another 30 year period of being good just twice, or a 65 year period of being there but not really being a threat. I’m just as much a part of this as the next person - I don’t watch any games other than Melbourne, I don’t care if my kids support Melbourne and nor am I a member of the club. I’d be lucky to have been to 5 games in 10 years and am as fairweather as they come. Yet here I am on a supporter forum hoping and praying for change, proper focused change. What @Dee in a Kilt is trying to do here is more genuine than anything I have seen the club do in a long time, whether it gets there or not. It’s someone grabbing the bull by the horns and trying to bring change. I tip my hat to you and hope people realise that there is a an opportunity to be a part of the solution and create the change you hope for.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
I’m not sure on how this all works from a legal and trade perspective, I may be way off the mark. The first thing I thought of when the Pickett deal was announced was that Melbourne have done him a solid by guaranteeing his money if and when he moves. I’ve got little doubt he won’t fulfill his entire contract, so if someone wants him, they have to pay him that money regardless. I realise it’s simplistic but it’s also set Pickett up for life whether a dee or not.

Game Plans & Styles: Playing Catchup?
We don’t have the leg speed to defend modern gameplay, across the board. It’s far too easy to open up our zones, isolate and expose our mids and run away from our backs. It was good while it lasted and I agree that defense will be the next evolution, it just won’t work for us with this group

Trade Targets
North with a coaching role would be wise for both parties, as a player only, that would be unbelievably silly from the Kangas

100% We improve instantly and to a greater degree than the hawks would (provided Lewis plays)

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
In an ideal world, a coaching refresh could give them a spark to find another 5%. The reality is neither of Oliver or Trac are known for being strong ‘team’ members, remember 2021 when we won the flag on the back of the playing group seeing past the end of their own nose for a brief period? The entire organisation is devoid of confidence - the coach, the players, the management. We have been so staunch on system that it’s sucked the life out of the club and the creative and artistic side of football has been well and truly buried. For the sake of the players themselves, I’d like to see Trac and Clarry at other clubs and playing well. Both are brilliant to watch at their best. In terms of trade value, it needs to be assessed on what they are now, not what they once were. We only need to break even on current performance with any trades and I think that’s achievable. Hawthorn and GWS are the two clubs I would target because they have lists which are designed around skill, even their fringe players would have us covered in that department.

Brad Greens letter to members
Missed the mark by a similar distance to Clarry’s effort

Time to go Goody?
Are they mostly private owned? That’s a very different ball game I don’t follow NHL to know how their team structure works.

Time to go Goody?
There’s certainly a ‘body of work’ that suggests we want the thinking kept as far away from our senior players as possible in these situations. Gawn’s had a couple of very bizarre moments in the dying moments this year.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
My 8 year old came to me at 3/4 time and said what’s the score, I told him and he asked would Melbourne win? My answer, it would be a horrible loss if they don’t but it’s probably going to happen. Wish he’d never asked

Time to start a rebuild?
We’ve traded in Ed Langdon, Brodie Grundy and Lachie Hunter since 2019. They could be considered walk up starts but we didn’t play Grundy so I’m not so sure where that leaves us. How the hell do we find 4 in 12-24 months? It’s not currency related, it’s getting 4 separate good players interested
