  1. I'm just stating what the rules say.
  2. The rules aren't based on outcome though, they're about 'potential to cause injury'. Genuinely surprised anyone can try and conjure up way to defend that action.
  3. Sounds like Vines is likely in.
  4. TBF to you, I remember you posting a similar sentiment before and it was the first time I'd thought of it from that angle and won me over to that argument.
  5. I mean, the post said the exact opposite of what your comment implies?
  6. It's a curse isn't it?
  7. I mean, they could probably do with some change in their recruiting and list management department tbh...
  8. And if either Jackson or Gawn miss game, who rucks? Daw? Weid is depth, he'd be being paid as such, no reason to force him out the door given it won't give us much cap space and we can't use 'Ham Sandwich' as a backup ruck or key forward depth.
  9. Its not his 'official' nickname, it's just one kicking around supporters on social media. The players call him "Big Sexy". (Not kidding)
  10. They've just coined it for this article,, it's not the new 'quarterback'. Spargs is the number 1 player in the league for percentage of kicks inside 50 that result in a mark. This may help too:
  11. "No one in the AFL has a better percentage of marks taken inside 50 off his kicks than the 22-year-old small forward"
  12. Disagree mate. TBH I've just come to the conclusion that AFL supporter culture has just become a whinge fest. There's issues, sure, but really think it's not as big and drastic as the engagement driven media would have you believe. Anyways, I'm contributing to it by posting more so I'll leave you guys to chat about it.
  13. Maybe if you go back to he 70s or 80s, but as long as I can remember they haven't been too worried about making marks around the ground 'centimetre perfect'. And again, to clarify, my comment wasn't directed at your post as such, just really sick of how much AFL supporters talk about the umps. The vast majority of articles and news seem to be about them every week now. Can't think of any other sport in the world where it's as much of a focus and discussion point as it is with footy. Just wish everyone would focus back on the actual game and the players.
  14. Umpires have always been pretty loose with exact marks around the ground. Also think we as supporters need to focus less on the umps. It's absurd how much of the weekly chat about footy is focused on them now. Not a dig at you sue, but a general comment. Really over it.
  15. Gus isn't going back into the middle.
  16. Put it this way though - Let's say Langdon was out instead of Harmes before the game. Do you think Melksham would have been picked to play on the wing? I don't.
  17. Yeah 100%, and for mine, we could actually really do with 2018ish Melksham about now - our forward delivery has been a bit poor this year and in his prime he was one of our best at that.
  18. Totally agree that roles can't be judged on stats alone and that we play a role-based system. Just not sure you can say he 'played a role and executed what he was meant to' and then say you don't know what his role was. To be fair, I'm not totally sure what he was meant to be doing either. He only had the 1 tackle and 10 pressure acts, so I don't think he was there as a pressure forward, he had 7 disposals and 2 inside 50s so don't think he was a link up player, 1 clearance so don't think he was doing any inside mid work, he kicked the 1 goal but he had 0 marks inside 50 so don't think he was a pure forward. Just seemed a bit of a nothing game from him. I'm sure he had a role, just not sure he had any impact in whatever it was meant to be. Obvious choice would be he was playing Harmes' role as mid/half forward if you look at his heat map, but whatever his role was he didn't have enough impact in it IMO.
  19. I thought he was poor and had little impact in anyway, but can be swayed by roles. Can you explain what his role was and what he was meant to do?
  20. Think you might be thinking of Harmes. Viney pulled out the day before the game with 'hamstring awareness'. "We will monitor Jack closely over the next few days and we're hopeful that he will be available next week." Viney to miss Roos clash
  21. Might have to re-watch the game, but didn't think he was on the wing much.
  22. Goody spoke about that early in the year from memory - Said we'd tried different forward structures and the current one was the one they settled on and wouldn't be changing it. As mentioned by buck, forward pressure is a key for us (23 tackles inside 50 yesterday, 23!!), and we lose a bit of that putting in another tall. On top of that, I would say our forward 50 delivery and spacing has not been great for much of the last 6 weeks or so. Kicking it to stationary crowded packs more than we should, so adding another tall into that mix wouldn't be helpful IMO.
  23. Salem potentially could be tried on the wing this year, but I'm not sure they'd try it until he's been back for at least a few games. Will be something to watch out for.
