  1. Some of the carry on by Sam Newman toward Caro?
  2. The time and schedule stopped me flying down from the Northern Rivers. Metricon is 8PM on a Sat. My 6yo wants to go but with an 80min drive each way, way too late.
  3. Bedford has some wheels eh. Can we get Tom Morris to ask Goody if Tmac is moving back?
  4. It's not even a song worth sooking about We should have played Faith No More's Epic as we walked out last night "You want it all but you can't have it It's in your face but you can't grab it" Give them something to sook it up about Man, is this what winning hubris feels like?! I LIKE IT!
  5. Gee he was impressive Reminds me of Jimeoin in the face!
  6. Hi from near Lismore. Had to come into the Base today for internet access for work. Absolute carnage up here - never seen anything like it. Still no NBN or Telstra/Optus 4G in many areas (ie no 000 access). Fuel still scant. Food re-appearing. The carnage about town is unfathomable. Fence posts hanging off power lines (we're talking in hilly country too, metres and metres above the ground). Anyhoo, I've a barcode for R1, I simply can't get there, sadly. The Wednesday night schedule is most inconvenient. Will be at Metricon for the Suns though if any DLers will be there. Barcode R1, hit me up
  7. St Andrews is open to the public, as I understand it? As a public course and such.
  8. Trying to decide if I need a l/s with #15 on it for winter AM runs in the Northern Rivers. Getting a lot of car toots in the #13 s/s
  9. Top shelf report, ta. Oliver looks fitter again, the lean face/neck is the tell. Yikes.
  10. Gaaaaaa! All my bucket list courses. Dad's mum and dad spent their retirement flying first class to France and the UK/Scotland (must be nice!) and always brought back golf bag towels. Troon, Royal St Georges, Lytham etc. I have had them for 30-odd years and too scared to use them! I've told wifey that a whisky/golf tour is on the cards - St Andrews and anything else we can. That's in addition to Maui and an Augusta Tour which you can tack Pebble Beach onto. Chapeau! Some photos would be mint!
  11. Howdy! Is CGC invite only, just curious (I'm in the Northern Rivers these days so just curious - playing Royal Pines with wifey end Feb 👌 )
  12. Don't mind Brighton, I almost had a hole in one on that dogleg Par 4. About an inch from the hole. Sad face. Sandy was my public course of choice. The back 9 was mint for a public course (I think used to be part of RMGC?). To your q: before leaving Mel I was going to join either Woodlands (grandfather a long time member) or RMGC. I think annual fees at RMGC (full) were 5k-ish, and joining 10k? Woodlands had a half price joining fee for under 35s of about 1500 and annual fees circa 2k at the time (very attractive). Woodlands joining fee today for 7 days is $8500 - most of the clubs hide/obfuscate the joining fee on their websites, but I think if you see an "admin fee" for membership application processing of about 10%, it's a good bet the joining fee is 10x that. The bigger problem is waiting lists and access. Grandfather had friends who were long time Victoria members and I think the waiting fee was 25 years for full 7 days? There's not even a membership page on their site, which tells you a bit! Metropolitan is invitation only (that ensures a good diverse mix eh!), Commonwealth no info, Kingston Heath no info. Despite the apparent downturn in golf, it seems membership at private sandbelt courses is still pretty well protected. Keysborough is something like 25k but it's this weird share membership thing you can, at least around 2010, transfer. I think Yarra Yarra was the most exy when I was looking - it was eye wateringly high but might have changed.
  13. Always handy to play a few shots lower. Playing jnr pennant at Gisborne - long course, small greens (this is mid to late 90s), lotta trees and pine stands - we always tended to shoot 3-6 shots lower at Northern, Green Acres, Kew, Woodlands, Keysie, RMGC etc.
  14. Finally received order after placing it on 26th. What a disaster. stubby holder - no bottom?! the shipment didn’t have the youth cap ordered for my son in time for Christmas the premiers hat (grey one) is an horrible fit - it’s like some WW2 German Panzer gunner’s hat from a Spike Milligan novel. I had to check screen caps from Indiana Jones to check I wasn’t over egging things - nope. Gave that to my son so awaiting a black Premiers New Era one instead but alas no hats pretty poor experience with zero communication from the shop without prodding
  15. Flying down from the Northen Rivers for this. Bring the fam, park up at mums in Malmsbury, might take the eldest (mad Petracca fan, will be nearly 7 so a late night but how often do you get a Premiership flag unfurling ) , meet Brownie and others , go to the zoo etc .mint! Kids are starving in Afghanistan so I’m relaxed about a Wed night Big Show where Petraccas biceps explode
  16. I ordered sept 26 and still don’t have my order. Really really bad. standard tshirt stubby holder beanie and hats.
  17. it’s not aus post it seems this is really really really poor by the club and really really poorly managed by the shop i bought stuff sept 26 for delivery for my bday before oct 28th. Still don’t have it. emailed them a week ago finally got a response - mfging issues with beanie. Wtf? Where’s the update email? lmb knitwear in Melbourne can literally make the beanies . In Melbourne!!! you can pre plan for this type of thing including with mfers and printers (lots on Melbourne! Joe at Print visuals is great!) American apparel and AS Colour can supply lots of high quality clothes Super disappointing
  18. Can’t have
  19. Precedes my arrival on Earth by 1 day so I shan’t forget
  20. This is a good perspective no need to rub the Dogs noses in it. Rivalries are great and all but we can get a ratings blockbuster and good crowd with another team. Like the Bombers. We could unfurl it in front of them and smash them. In front of a monster crowd
  21. “would likely have crowdsmade up exclusively of people who were fully vaccinated".”
  22. It appears only vaccinated (and unvaccinated kids) will be at the footy at least at commencement. Given the majority are vaccinated I dont think numbers will be an issue
  23. Sam Harris and Eric Topol cover this phenomenon amongst nurses and MDs in this podcast https://samharris.org/podcasts/256-contagion-bad-ideas/ Lack of critical thinking is a general populace issue but it’s striking when present in a cohort that has critical thinking as part of its accreditation
  24. It’s like Geelong think leg speed and endurance can’t be trained at 22 We could ask Nike’s Ryan Flaherty https://tim.blog/2017/05/07/ryan-flaherty/
  25. Those athletes don’t understand these vaccines aren’t sterilising vaccines. That’s on both public health messaging and the disinformation/anti vax campaign. They’re doing exactly what they were designed to do. https://dalewharrison.substack.com/p/there-are-no-breakthrough-infections People should listen to some Sam Harris for rational and critical reasoning (that’s not aimed at you) https://samharris.org/podcasts/256-contagion-bad-ideas/
