They're due to play the Dockers @ Optus next Sunday, hope they're there already...did they fly straight there? Lockdown in QLD mooted to end that Sunday. Week after that, v Pies @ Gabba, they might allow that, then Weagles at Gabba..

He looks so composed. Love his game. Bowey's smart handball, bouncing it below some other players and straight into the recipient's arms was beautiful. Can't remember to whom and when sorry. Love Harmes, but boy, gee, wow, selfish.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 v Gold Coast Part 2
Superunknown replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Quick question - why was the flight into Brisbane Airport and not Coolangatta? Plenty of VA metal flying into OOL still? A delightful 100k ride in a balmy 28deg Northern Rivers down to Evans Head preceding a Peroni and the game. Hope everyone is similarly situated ???? -
Not locked down and 1 hr from Metricon in NNSW but can't cross border for professional sporting match attendance... sad times

Data is still shifting on viral loads in vaccinated v unvaccinated, as is risk. It is undeniable there is breakthrough in the vaccinated, so the question then is: why have a no jab no play policy at all? (Open question). AZ is available right now to anyone over the age of 18. Discl: I am vaccinated with AZ and am under 50. God, being unable to say under 40 anymore hurts, badly. :sobs:

After cleaning up on the Dogs last week, hard not to go past the Suns. For Bradbury fans, and for your back pocket, you'd be wanting the Bombers to beat the Swans too, paying, I think, a fairly generous 3.15 at present.
-
Just ideas, he may like none. I won't die on the hill for them so feel free to swap in burrito eating endless gym and reading Hemingway by a river. :shrugs: I went fine packing up my life and loved ones moving 1800km north from Melbourne, but to a new job I liked. Which didn't pay upward of say 300k a year.

Let's not get too excited, we could still lose to Adelaide at the G #amirite? insert sky falling emoji
-
I wonder if Pert is raising it. Geelong's armchair ride stinks.
-
This is good for Weid. I kind of think the Suns would be good. Get to the warmth of the GC, beaches, hinterland, golf, surf etc. Out of the footy bubble of Mel. Less pressure (maybe). They'll want some side dishes to go for pick 3. What can North offer?
-
This. it also saves an extra flight Mel-Darwin-Darwin. Do Perth-Darwin-Mel instead.
-
Soooo.... GC Perth is 5hrs Perth Darwin flight time is 3h47min. Darwin Mel is 4.5hrs Total flying time is 13hrs15min or so, not including prevailing headwinds or tailwinds. The GC-Perth-Mel time would have been 9,5hrs so an extra 3h47min. Plus downside of hubs, plus upside of hubs, warmer weather, psychological +/- being with each other... Might just be me but I see a 3h47min extra flying as not a huge imposition...the hub might be a different story. That's away for 3 weeks? Might be hard to Tmac/Lever etc, but in the grand scheme of things it ought not be a major drama.

Wait what? Practicing goal kicking?! Bizarre thing to do!
-
Well done! Watch out coming back through Frankganistan! Exposure sites galore!
-
Tee hee. No cases here in months and months. Hopefully Sydneysiders will stay away! That's what's closed the borders. Golf/surf should be delightful on the weekend. Much excitement for Bowey.

Ripping weather up here at present south of the Tweed in New South Mexico. 23 Sat, 28 Sunday.

FYI I emailed membership and they told me we had no say in the decision to move the game to NT (before it came back to QLD) which implies we had no hand/leverage which could imply we had no ability to cut a deal on the NT payment
-
Why is this a problem? 3hrs to NT, then , what, 2 to Perth and 5 home?
-
Looks like Clarkson might be available to draft in 2023. (Takes Black Hat off)

There's being positive and then there's gaslighting How about being honest. "We're out of form. All is not lost, we can fix this stuff and we're onto it." See, I didn't even mention learnings.

Not to stray off topic, I just wanted to pick this up - they apparently crossed the border illegally. Evidently there has not been any fine for that action just the mask breach. This article says 2/3 tested positive eventually https://www.7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/exclusive-the-sydney-removalists-who-brought-covid-19-back-into-victoria-c-3466050 The ABC article says they were negative when caught near Mildura but had no such permit. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-21/sydney-removalists-caught-in-mildura/100310504 Anyway back to the topic at hand.

That is the guy who, despite being advised being a close contact flew SYD-BNK, was picked up by the QLD flight attendant, and I am speculating here, might have been responsible for the detection of virus in wastewater in Byron (the dates match and there are no other cases here), then crossed the border seeding QLD outbreak and then lied to contact tracers about his movements. Shocking.
-
Article on Age says Metricon. Am in NNSW and prior to this outbreak - in Sydney, and with no community transmission cases in NNSW for months - could have gone. QLD border now shut for attendance at sporting events even to border bubble residents. Don't get many chances to get to games so this is most annoying, Gladys.

Real Footy Podcast - I think Jake Niall - said AFL would be brave to hold in WA, given that a no-crowds order could literally be imposed on the day of a final. Caro thinks Adelaide. Surely Gabba or Adelaide if not the G. Better to have 50k at AO or G rather than 20k at the G, maybe? Finals 5 weeks away (?) and GF 9....lot of water under the bridge between now and then.

Or snap hooking from the tee and constantly having to chip out/recover, getting more and more desperate. Poor Ian Baker-Finch.
