I have been a member of the redlegs for 34 years, about 14 years ago it was decided that members who bought opposition supporters in had to take those guests to the level above the seating area's allocated for premium members, this usually works quite well but in some instances members obviously don't adhere to that. At the end of the geelong game a fight nearly broke out as two geelong supporters started to abuse the melbourne players and surrounding melbourne members including me, this is the reason why the rule was brought in.I remember there use to be a lot of problems with opposition supporters. I personally prefer to be surrounded by mfc members only as I can be get heated when abuse starts to fly around.
