  1. I was more of the opinion for how we don't play the G well. I started watching the replay this morning and as they ran through the banner boo's came through the cheers. I am glad we aren't a booing crowd. That noise does carry and the players would hear it. We boo only when a mongrel act or howler of ump decision. So I don't think it is that we have less vocal supporters, it is the tone of boo that makes it feel that way. The home field will galvanise us, though will we sound more vocal? They players have suggested that they feel supported at the G. Big week, go Dees. Addit: off now for my morning walk and to see if the team is training on Gosch's.
  2. We haven't played take it on footy well for some time. The game has evolved into that frenetic game of, hit the player to open up the field in order to score especially after turnovers. Some players cannot do it, either there timing is out, the skills aren't good enough or they aren't in the right field position. They also don't baulk and shimmy so that they aren't easily read. It is something that needs development and to think we can turn it on we the require it is naive. We had to be trying different styles of play throughout the H & A, instead of a contested and safe game. You could see that we were told to take it on early yesterday and after a few failed attempts we went back into our kick to the contest down the line style.
  3. The Dogs drank the bathwater with five to go, weak willed lack the ruthlessness. I thought Freo weren't going to score in the first half of a home final. Both poor.
  4. What a turn around. Cannot let up in finals. Doggies had 4 or 5 entries into their forward 50 with no result. They were coasting, then in the 4 minutes prior to the end of the quarter. Counter attacks, Dog's not scoring from the entries and the momentum. WOW
  5. Looks like Longmuir has given up. Their game plan must be shot
  6. Long way back for the Docks. Collingwood could be worried by the blitz that is the Dogs.
  7. And Hawkins (little impact) played, like he was the one he chose.
  8. Inaccurate gaol kicking in the first half made it look like more pressure. That second amazed by both teams fight. Mcgerry couldn't hold simple chest marks, mihocec nothing, forwards too small.
  9. You are right about the empty stadium. Like yesterday we had and North had a chance to get spectators there. Very few, with many DL's (die hards), posting from the pubs and not the ground during the womens game. We go for the atmosphere of big events and not for the grassroots anymore. I remain disappointed at the support for that, that isn't the pinnacle. The effect on me watching other teams during finals, is that it broke down the divisions, ( the advertisers would rather have division as that sells better), and I enjoyed footy as a whole and became less one eyed. The main disappointment is that I can't see the Casey game live.
  10. The clubs have to prepare for games in any case. They will know the staffing needs and will adjust as the crowd builds. I would rather they be member centric rather than the balance sheet. They aren't going to change in any case. I was really just reminiscing about "the good old days", where our world seemed more egalitarian and less money focused.
  11. It is still the costs to staffing, for 5 days as well as the 10 hours. Though my point is that they can afford it for 5 weekends a year. The women need to get access to the premier ovals, if they are to be offered equal status, which is where our society should be heading.
  12. I was travelling the world and Australia as an itinerant at that time. So, I don’t know either.
  13. Is that the same for CA (cricket) and test matches. So we get 20/20. They can afford it, I guess all is a commercial product now even though they are a non-profit organisation. So the bottom line is good for CEO's salaries.
  14. Yes H & A, sit anywhere and eat the peanuts.
  15. In the MCC no reserved seats, in the outer all were reserved other than the standing room. I cannot remember getting a GA finals ticket, unless going into the MCC.
  16. If they played 3 games on the day, there could possibly be 6 cheer squads at the game. What beautiful colour that would bring to the G. Your chants could be picked up by the public and sung during the game. More pipe dreams. Bring you lot on between games for a chanting competition and a banner/streamer display. Would love to see that, more than the the international singers. Kind of, going professional, similar to the marching bands in the US.
  17. I have fond memories of going to the finals and seeing the under 19's (I think), then the reserves, prior to the firsts game. Great for two reasons, such a full day and because our first team didn't often make the finals there was always some from MFC lesser division to watch. This allowed me to be less one eyed and become a fan of footy. The younger generation could be a bit that way. All that booing is so very destructive in its divisive impact on people and society. Love the double headers and the triple headers. Imagine seeing the MFC, women, then the seconds, then the first on a finals day, now we have become a "successful club". Just a pipe dream. Oh well, the Casey games will have to be on the telly.
  18. What a shame, I haven't got a car and find Casey too difficult to get to. I'm pretty sure I am not alone in Casey being hard to get to. They obviously don't want the crowds but prefer the exposure to that developing area. Bad contract, I want a proper 2nds division, with all contracted MFC players and a home in the city. Stop the cost cutting by AFL honcho's. Thanks for replying mad (I'm not gonna take it any more).
  19. Would have liked Smith to get a run, as playing in the VFL is a big step up to AFL. The benefit of getting used to the speed and pressure would have helped if he gets called on later. Also, to see if he is up to it at all.
  20. Could that mean, a chance of another double header.
  21. Agree, they have trouble at home, not that we will be out next week. To win the big one, we have to play the G better. That is why playing on it could give us the learnings needed to develop a system and confidence to do it well. We aren't far off and an extra game out there may be what we need. They will now be in the rhythm of sleeping in their own beds and having a routine without travel. If anything the travel must be a bonding exercise that they have to create when at home.
  22. My guess for the training schedule is: Sunday 11.30 at Gosch's Tuesday 9.30 at Casey A captains run Thursday 9.30 at Gosch's
