  1. They also have poor final performances in the back of their heads. We go in as the "invincibles". Hoping we maintain that confidence.
  2. I thought Goody always took his learnings, except for that Prelim when we got flattened. His approach was defence first, whereas Rutten appeared not to be working on the offence/defence transition game. I think, different styles.
  3. This was always going to happen, given this weeks drama, and how their season went. A strong list, plenty of potential, many believed they would get into finals at the beginning of the season. Some matches were poorly coached, and not much adjustment to the style of play. At times seemed to have lost the players. He really needed some assistance from experienced coaches, who was or is their head of coaching? You know, someone like Ricardson or Williams. His assistant coaches wouldn't be feeling too secure
  4. I don't want the verbatim, would like to know what frame of reference. I would assume the Brissy player falls into the criteria we all know not to offend with.
  5. They need to give us some idea of the sledge. Spectators can be barred from games, with the AFL not holding back on what was said. The players are schooled about what is ok. The audiences are not, nor do they have any support. If they out audiences, then, out those who are supposed to be educated and with support, the offender must stand to public opinion. So in my mind I speculate, sexist comments would be front and centre (mum, sister, an LBGTQIA), or disability, or maybe a family member dealing with an illness.
  6. Said, "down with cramp", they stopped play and it was in the rib area. Likes hearing his own voice, goes off subject, baracks and when dees have the play, he tells a story. Also a mathematical genius!
  7. Just saw him in the backline number 41.
  8. Haven't seen him, perhaps he is not playing.
  9. We have the right team in the AFL. Want more from, Bedford, Chandler, J.Smith, Weids, Laurie. Too many fumbles and second to the ball. JJ showing some leadership. Van Royen doing all he can for a call up.
  10. Heard Goody say they will have 3 days off. Does that mean the first finals prep training will probably be Tuesday, 9.30 am at Gosch's? What a great start for the finals series. Beautiful weather for them, hope a few take advantage of the Qld coast.
  11. Coaches did them, good study of the oppo's player, their ball movers and game winners were given nothing. No lesser lights stood up in the vacuum. Great start, kept the foot down and didn't let them get away in the third. Good transition footy (the change from offence to defence), predicted their attempts to get the corridor, great scoring from the turnovers. Galvanising win.
  12. Brissy will have to take it on. Can we defend a team coming hard at us and score on the counter-attack.
  13. This has been our way this year. Cannot let the intensity drop in the second half. Fagan would have told them to play on the edge. It hasn't worked. Galvanised us and they dropped their skills. Great team effort. Standing up for each other. Playing well into the forward area.
  14. They try and rough us up and forgot to play footy. No protection from the umps again. Keep at it Dees.
  15. Would also include Bowey in that mix as a small forward, and possibly Laurie. Though glad Melky got a chance to prove himself.
  16. Inconsistency and poor decision making comes with being a youngish player. This can improve and Weids has had more time in the system. I see him as a much more natural footy player than Weids. Being clean comes with confidence, and I have seen him play a clean style. As you say, inconsistency so you also have seen some times when he does well. As for skills, he kicks well, though occasionally you can see he gets the jips. Handballing he sometimes appears to not be focused, takes it a bit easy and will miss his target. I have seen him with very quick hands and can be a play maker. Funny how we see different aspects and come to different conclusions. You might be disappointed when he remains with us in the 22 for a few more seasons. Give him a bit more time. Though I may be wrong and not you and apologise now if that becomes the case.
  17. Still has weaknesses, but fooled, no. Gee, you're a bit black or white. So it wasn't "a genuine question", you had an agenda! Do you see any redeeming assets in Sparrow's game?
  18. Big game, prime time, it is going to be a beauty. Hope we get over the line. Our crumbing forwards to take it on. Coaches to get the best out of the players. Hope we hold their better players and their lesser lights don't stand up for a once off. Trust in our back-line, at least in the first half so they aren't the front runners. Would love to see us play several 10 minute periods when we go, bang bang bang. Want some great ball movement of the half-back. Our primes to be too good for theirs. Go Dees!
  19. From my impressions in this world on group dynamics, it seems generally speaking that each individual will be liked by a 1/3rd, disliked by a 1/3rd and found indifferent by a 1/3rd. The numbers don't change by much, except for the very popular or the difficult. Plus or minus 20%. In life we must be grateful to those who are positive towards us, as just as many are against us. Those who dislike us will always be here, best to figure out how to deal with that fact. What they say can be useful, irrelevant or about themselves. Up to each of us to figure that feedback out. It is just the way it is. So digital communications merely highlights this. Anonymity offers those who live on a more negative plane of being a less consequential effect when expressing their truth. Face to face they are more likely to be quiet. The old, "if you don't have something positive to say", is not socially supported in the digital world, as there are less consequences. In a way, digital is bringing out our true social nature and the interactions. We do take rejection and ostracisation serious. It is an impossibility to be loved by all. If we have a few true ones around, then we are blessed. For those without, don't be too hard on yourself, relationships are the most difficult aspect of our modern life. Again, a 1/3rd and a 1/3rd and a 1/3rd. All is a mirror and a master.
  20. I see Sparrow as a protector and safety, tough to tackle, can receive a hot handball and gets out of jail. Shepards our main ball movers and getters, when in close. Good sized mid. Can run all day and still perform when exhausted. Usually a good kick, has the capacity to pop up when is needed and will take it on when it is his time. Loads of potential as he learns to position himself well and deliver the ball to advantage. He is learning from Oliver, Trac, Brayshaw and Viney.
  21. I can see him training with them and offering leadership. Making the team with no game fitness would be a big leap of faith.
  22. Great continuity, minimal changes again, wow, what pressure for spots. No-one can really under perform the roles at this stage, so expecting a very hardened, and pressured approach to our game. I thought Harmes played with desperation at VFL level last week. He worked hard, to get the call up With the dry days up there, I'd expect a little less dew on the ground. Marking and clean ball use will be needed, get it done BBB and Dogga. Brissy will be ready for us, but I think we are playing on the front foot this season. We really ask the opposition to stick to us, as we don't give much in the first half and quite often they fold. It still remains a problem for us in the third, but with so much on the line I expect we will roll on till the end. [Good to see Kenty as a possible in, (kick a few for us) St.kilda has a few out this week, including M.Wood who looked strong in their last one. Hoping they can do Sydney and give us a MCG game (so long as we win).] I can see the players enjoying the VFL game in Moreton oval if we do Brissy. Plenty of sunshine, then off to watch the Sydney game on Sunday. Good preparation but probably not. Maybe only Goody and few select leaders to the Sydney game.
  23. About time for a bit of balance. Gee, we would want to click. Brissy at their home. We are similar, in that, the style of momentum shifts in the game. Fight for 4 quarters, a little like how we did against Blue, but from the front and we win. Go Dees.
  24. We will find out in a few days. I expect us to fight hard, the same with Brissy. Hoping we click and the close one last week, bodes well for us to smash them. I am with the sentiment that you don't have to believe in the MFC to be a true supporter. Each to their own, even those wearing the lucky undies from "64, and now 2021. Opinions, (unless in the mass media, and noticed by players and/or officials) or magic thinking is irrelevant to how we go.
