  1. Rolls Royce's were given.
  2. Went to Shannon Cambell, no 20 from Brisbane.
  3. Katy Hore
  4. Umpires nearly got them a goal as well as trying to bring Hodder into the game. Some big marks Dees, play smart. Go Dees, fight.
  5. Guest comments seem to be all Queensland, is there a Dees supporter they can chat to. I thought GF's were meant to be neutral . Against many things, Go Dees.
  6. So many in the back to us, HTB, no attempt to dispose when tackled, and dragging it on when on the deck, no help from the umps. We can't find space or our hit ups. Paxman, West, Purcell putting their head over and fighting. Gillard and Birch playing a good defensive game. Time for some skills. Go Dees
  7. Thought Delta was good. Great Banner. Go Dees, Bannan to get some spark going. Paxy with the warrior gear on, go Karen
  8. I hope our scores come from a spread of players. Paxy, Fitzsimons, Hore, Tayla, Zanker, time for Hanks, maybe even West to goal and Daisy with her many assist. We can't let their forwards hold it in their forward area. Need to be able to find our way out without them finding multiple entries. Goldy needs to find clear air, and have some shimmy and a side step so she doesn't get caught. I want Gay to find precision passes. Work hard ladies, do the simple stuff, be clean and hoping they get and stay in the zone. Go Dees
  9. Great we go in with no changes. I saw some vision of the Springfield venue, the surface is looking good. Amazing job by the curators. Earlier in the week I saw some vision, where the waves between the slabs were obvious. Looked like they rolled the area where the slabs join, and have now rolled the entire surface. Lots of sun, has probably also helped. Would have hated to see the surface effect the game. Enjoy the game everybody. I think we are a well balanced team and have what it takes to create a good game. Go Dees.
  10. Into simulations, clean with plenty of outside run. Bibs got hammered. After simulations they took a knee, and several share. They break with hugs and slaps all round. Go Dees.
  11. After the warm up, British bulldog with a sash , then into their stations. Moving the ball around, working stoppages, and bringing the ball down for the a snap or tackle. Then they rotate. Some sprints as a group, and into their positional lines. Looks like Gay is on light duties, and Sherrif is doing a little less training. Mithin and Mackin with mids. Harris and Sherrif with forwards. Heath with backs.
  12. They're out and happy.
  13. We are building, over the past games our opponents have been getting better and so we are starting to peak (would have preferred a longer season). We would have got plenty of learnings from the game against North, who strangled our fast ball movement. Get that style back and play confidently, without fumbling or failing at the simple stuff, then we are, IMO stronger than the Lions. We have some very strong willed players, Purcell, Paxman, Daisy, Birch, they should be able to read the moment. Our hunt and tackling has been great. Keep the work ethic, be in sync with each other and take the goal scoring opportunities. Hoping it is our day. They are the most entertaining of teams. Go Dees.
  14. The women are on Gosch's now. Tayla has goal kicking practice. I'm just in time for the simulations. They have the cones parallel with the 50 square, forcing them to take the central corridor. Those going to the W awards have split off. The rest separate into their lines. Forwards goal kicking, mids practicing stoppages and defenders are one on one marking. One of the volunteers tell me they are flying up Saturday.
  15. The W awards are on tonight from 7.30 pm. If they are training, my guess is they will start at the earlier time.
  16. I had a look at Gosch's last night, no one was training. My guess is that they will be there tonight, Tuesday. Start time could be anywhere between 5.30 to 6.30 pm. Another guess would be for a Thursday night run, unless they are already in Brisbane.
  17. I think the spectacle is greatly enhanced by popularity. Entertainment has always been razzle, dazzle. From a skills point of view, I think they are great at following directions, and all understand roles and structures well. Their on field talk ànd support is great. The games are very emotionally rewarding and I look forward to watching and following them. What's not to like. Addit: It is different to the mens game, but so are many things produced by females. That's why we need to hear their voices, experiences, expressions, and take notice of the best women in their field (help the least). Only when fully accepted will we have a balanced world. Oh yea, plus the many other voices from our diversified and eventually inclusive world.
  18. Why aren't our institutions valuing womens efforts and abilities, and rewarding them with public adorations? I am watching aquaman on channel 7, "home of footy", the news comes on and the sport is about Gary Ablett playing a game in the NT. Nothing about the Dees or Lions, nor the GF. I am amazed that women continue to be made invisible Some big build ups to the Sunday game would be great, even if it is played in the boondocks. They have to do better at promoting. Without the enthusiasm, entertainment and the sponsorship that follows, how can we hope for an equal world.
  19. Ouch, Hope you heal quickly.
  20. Is that stuff in the minority? Women are so angry, they still have to fight hard to get expression in the world. We need intelligent and skilled women, being able to find their potential. Changes to the culture, institutions and avenues are happening. The women can do this, and have to be supported by as many as possible. They are breaking through, let's help them flourish, or at least get out of their way. Let's have more women stories and legends to inspire us. Go Daisy and the group of original demons, a GF cup (within reach) and a legacy for our young ones.
  21. The same (I named Gillard as one of our best), but I think Lions are a better forward line. I don’t want Birch on Wardlaw (Lions tall forward). Thought North did well to get a mismatch, with Birch often taking the taller one. They also need to help each other when out pointed, with someone cutting infront.
  22. Harris has been great at stoppages, invaluable in the marking contest, hits opponents hard, and plays without any fuss. I thought the Lions were strong up forward. I think it will be our back-line that wins it, unless the mids can dry up the Lions supply. I want to see more from Birch, Gillard and Gay. Usually they intercept, set the tempo and create great run off the back-line. Today they looked flustered, and had to deal with a heap of pressure.
  23. Ball didn’t quite bounce our way for 3 quarters. North cut down our handball game Thanks to the defenders in the 3rd, especially Chaplin. We couldn't find a way out of our back-line, and kicks into the forwards, we couldn't hit them up. The gusty conditions didn't help. Loved the number of smothers we did. Using Hore behind the ball helped, as well as having her capacity to move forward. Role players of Mithin and Heath, as well as Hanks, Paxman who were in everything all day, and Daisy, Zanker, Mackin, Gillard, Birch, Sherrif, did well. Not our best game but did it when we needed. Bring the milk crates, big week as the GF beckons. Go Dees
  24. AFL treating the womens game as second rate, allowing Richmond then Brisbane to dictate the stadium. Setting the women up to fail by not giving them the best opportunity to excel and entertain, and the effect may be to set back the league, and to slow down the majority to become full-time players (conspiracy, though probably unintended), popularity is important, How does having to turn spectators away or not getting them to the turnstiles help? Could ask the sponsor what they want? The fans want a spectacle, for the Finals. How can the AFL continue to give home ground advantage to a few teams at the expense of entertainment, and call that good for womens footy. The turf at Springfield was laid 1 month ago, it must be dangerous to play on (Gosch's required 12-16 weeks). There are going to be cracks between the slabs just made for the odd boot, and no way it has any roots that will hold the pieces from moving. My guess is the opposition will inspect and say we are not playing on that. They are setting themselves up for trouble. If we play the GF, I can see Bannan hitting a soft spot as she bounces, or Hanks, Purcell, Paxman, Zanker losing their feet when turning tight, the ground giving way as the tall's hold their opposition from the drop zone, and half the team rolling the ankle to some extent. We do have the mantra anywhere, anytime, anyone, does North? 600 seats At least 8000 can enter.
  25. Disappointing game, Adelaide were never in it, early umpiring decision or non decision hurt them. They also fumbled everything, whereas Brisbane were clean and direct. The Lions forwards were good, we (if we win tomorrow) will have to be careful of Wardlaw, Davidson and Hodder. Conway runs all day and has a good footy brain. Hoping Springfield reminds us of Casey (if we get over North). Sunday game.
