I think he should have had a ping at the goals when he took that mark on the 50 and played on and hit up Fritsch. Selfless play but I would not have begrudged him after a great piece of play.

Forgive the ignorance but do they award anything for the team that finishes on top? I have a vague memory of them awarding the team on top a few year back after they had done away with the knockout format of the preseason comp.

I was 9 or 10 when we lost the preliminary final in 1987. At the I don't think I realised the enormity of what it meant to lose that game and it was the first and only time I had seen my grandpa cry. Less than a year later he would be gone and never got to see us reach the Grand Final again. I wear his jacket to every game of footy I go to.

For me it is two finals we played against the Blues. 1994 and 2000. I got so much pleasure from beating them against the odds.
