Standard of Umpiring
If we could learn to not have goalless quarters, this would not be as big an issue on this forum. The umpiring is bad but we need to take responsibility for missed opportunities. I think at least 2 games this year we have lost due to goalless quarters? Almost a third against North.

Steven May staging fine
Jack Trengove was the first player suspended for a tackle on Dangerfield in the goal square Punt Road end many years ago. A perfect tackle before the concussion thing was a hot topic.

The real state of the game
Watched the game. The commentators were onto that non 50 as soon as it happened. 4 umpires and they all missed or ignored it. The Daicos non decision on incorrect disposal another. And a filth goal came from what looked like a scoop from the ground (I stand to be corrected on that but looked like a throw). All clubs are equal, but some are more equal than others. I know that paraphrase originally applied to pigs, but you could classify filth supporters as pigs except the porcine variety are more intelligent.

Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
Additional to amazing that he came back on is that despite Trac's running and jumping ability being restricted, he still got good possessions in that 5 minute period. Legend. Most of the others on the list. Take note.

The Narrm Curse
I think won one. Versus North in 2022 at Docklands . That was our 10th win on the trot and it was not a convincing win. After that game we lost the next two in a row.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast
That effort was weak as P one double five. Ben Brown. Many thanks for helping our 21 campaign, but you can't cut it in the ones anymore. Petty trade bait? Too inconsistent. Adelaide are looking. Again, many thanks for helping our 21 campaign. Billings? Started great early in the year but dropped off and butchers it consistently. Why does Goody persist. Come on fellas. How about the Rev's motto? Is it forgotten? When all is said and done, more is said than done. Season not over yet so extract the digit and make me a believer again.

First game?
I know it was versus Fitzroy but not certain if it was 1967 or 1968. I remember the old Western Stand was nearing completion. I suspect 1967? A website said it was officially opened in 1968 but I thought it used to have a sign with 'Ponsford Stand 1967' on it. Might have been officially opened by some aristocrat after it was actually finished and used. I just recall my Grand mother taking me after half time after visiting my Aunty at the Mercy Hospital and we sat in the Northern Stand in the pocket. The bloke at the gate told my grandmother if I can sneak underneath the turnstile there was no need to pay. Probably saved her 25 cents. Suspect it was '67. If I could see photos of the Stand from May 67 & April 68 that might help restore some lost brain cells to confirm which game it was. I do recall blokes meant to be working on it not working and watching the game. Melbourne 3.2 6.9 11.12 13.15 93 Sat 20-May-1967 2:20 PM Att: 17,582 Venue: M.C.G. Fitzroy 2.1 2.4 5.8 7.9 51 Melbourne won by 42 pts [Match stats] The 1968 game v Fitzroy was Round 1. Melbourne 4.3 9.4 11.8 14.10 94 Mon 15-Apr-1968 2:20 PM Att: 25,064 Venue: M.C.G. Fitzroy 6.2 7.8 9.12 12.18 90 Melbourne won by 4 pts [Match stats]

Kysaiah Pickett on report
Kozzie lucky to get 2. Could have been 3. Dangerous action but his body language indicated he knew straight away he had stuffed up. Buddy only gets 1 due to the unwritten 'do not disadvantage Sydney Swans' philosophy. Refer Barry Hall in a Grand Final precedent.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Richmond excuses from various sources 1. Melbourne going full pace - Richmond in second gear 2. Melbourne know Casey better than Richmond 3. It's Melbourne's Grand Final (WTF?) 4. Melbourne full strength - Richmond had outs 5. Melbourne looked more tired by the final siren 6. Umpires crucified Richmond 7. TV commentary biased against Richmond

Dees vs Swans in finals
I was in the Northern Stand Punt Road end about where the 50 metre line is today. Can't recall if they had a 50 line back then. Do remember taping the reply. Geoff Leek was calling when Gerard Healy kicked (in hindsight) a ripper goal for the Swans out of the middle. Took a few bounces and one of the bounces didn't quite come back. Leek said 'He bounced it on a cow pat'.

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
1976 Karma. We had to beat Collingwood last game and rely on Carlton (top of ladder and hot favourites) to beat the Dogs and we would make finals. We got the job done on Collingwood, but Carlton Drew with the Dogs so we missed out. At the time, I took solace in that we cemented Collingwoods first wooden spoon. Carlton finished top and went out in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. So what happened to them past 2 weeks is somewhat satisfying. Although, I suppose would've been nice having Collingwood play Richmond in an Elim and knock one of them out.

Lynden Dunn back supporting the Demons!
I know someone in his family, and was told he loves the Dees. OK, that was some years back when still playing for us, but do you think these days Brereton supports Hawthorn or Collingwood when they play. Same situation.
