  1. If you saw Casey in the vfl last week, King & Filipovic struggle at that level! Spargo yes, but would have Frost, Stretch and Garlett well ahead of the rest!
  2. TMac at CHB, aside from a 4-5 game period at FF. This year, need to have a punt on Frost, give him 3-4 weeks! At least he has a strong physique and can run!
  3. Agree with premise of the thread, we’ve rushed in or kept in players who should have missed a week. TMac Jetta Petracca Melksham OMac & Pedo promoted after concussion and players do carry injuries, but seems like it has backfired on us!
  4. Unfortunately Ben Guthrie is right, losing Levers intercepts marks, spoils, leadership & structure has really hurt the Demons. Weeks 1-5 Lever struggled to get going, but then as he settled in and the backline got use to him as part of the unit: - we kept 3 players in the backline rather than all pressing into our forward half - stopped 3-4 players flying at once (which is happening in our forward line at the moment, with no real crumbers) - someone stayed near the goalsquare down back and how have we tried to replace him? - Joel Smith with all 3 games experience - then added Petty(vfl form wasn’t great) to debut instead of Vince - for me get Frost (playing very well in VFL) in for Petty - give Joel Smith 3-4 more weeks, if he makes it great, if not Vince possibly comes back other defensive issues: - Tyson on wing too slow, rarely ever see him chase, give Stretch(been great in VFL)a go for 4/6 weeks, just back him and say go for it! - forward line too many play tall, replace with Spargo & or Garlett - back three stay at back of square - put some heat on Petracca, Melksham, forwards & mids to really chase Outs: Petty, Tyson, Hannan, Ins: Frost, Stretch, Garlett And after last week would add in Spargo considering Weideman, Salem or even Jetta out. Jetta to rest, he looked out of it last week. Feels cathartic to write out my defensive druthers! Would feel even better to ban a lot of the umpires from our matches, 28 Parnell needs a seeing eye dog!
  5. Agree. Geelong spot on, Wagner oh boy! Port we looked too small down back at selection, and too slow with Tyson, Lewis & Vince in the team, and no forward crumbers in Garlett or Spargo! Plus umpires screwed us, Melksham decisions Q4, enough said. Then against Saints still no Garlett or Spargo! Tyson on a wing where he is out of position and snail slow! Then sacrificing Petty who from what I could read was doing ok at VFL level but not great, so added to Joel Smith, we had two kids effectively replacing Vince & Lever roles. TMac & Jetta obviously NQR! This week want some speed, a crumbed, some height/experience in backline!
  6. We need to go back to 2 umpires per game, maybe even 1! The less of them on field he better!
  7. Rucks got slaughtered, so a pretty good effort to get the win. Vince stood out. Stretch is getting better. Frost pretty strong. Not a lot of speed in the team. Balic injured or just slow?
  8. It was a real pity Lever went down, as the backline was really starting to gel together! After the Port game, we probably have to go with Frost in to add height to the backline at CHB and Vince out, Hibberd going to the flank.
  9. Nicholls is a [censored]. Each team should be able to nominate two umpires who they won’t accept umpiring their games, would highlight the worst umpires quickly! Did I mention, Nicholls is a [censored], and the other three from Friday night are pretty close!
  10. Totally agree, Demons could have won it with better ball use going into 50 zone, but umps finally lost it for us. Hawthorn get great treatment, rarely ever stand on the mark, always over it! Certain players get special treatment, Demons as a team and none of our players are in either of these special categories! Dont think we will ever see a level playing field!
  11. 30 frees against, second half worst umpiring almost ever! Normally over loss next day, but am still cursing the umpires! Wingard non mark paid Dixon 75 metre penalty Melksham x 2 goals disallowed plus 50 metre penalty against Brayshaw mark not paid As other poster mentioned, ball in our forward 50, 68 times and we hardly got a free inside 50, total BS! Umpires had at least a six goal impact, absolutely disgraceful!
  12. Port in Adelaide with home crowd and a 6 goal umpiring advantage, are a top 2-3 team, away they are an 8-9 team!
  13. Was just having a bit of fun re trade #, need something to take my mind of last nights umpiring crucifixion!
  14. Agree, I would have him over all of the above except Petracca! He has great skills and would have made a difference to our season. Re getting to old, Vince in his last season and Lewis gone next year. Trade Tyson for pick 19 (assuming Carlton on bottom) and take Murphy as a FA and Carlton get a high pick as compensation.
  15. I’ve noticed goals from frees is a stat that isn’t showed anymore. Should have a stat for Umpires goal errors, Port got a dream run last night. Port player pulled the ball in under him last night in last quarter in our forward fifty, 25 in front and got a free. Umpiring last night was about as bad as you will ever see in the last half!
  16. Went past play took him out - should at least be a free! Oh that’s right umpires didn’t pay any frees or marks to Melbourne in the last quarter!
  17. Agree. I’d pick Garlett, add his average of 1.8 goals per game and it counts! Also stick Weideman on 50m arc as a different target when opposition flooding inside 50. He’s a big pretty straight kick! Vince very lucky to hold his place. Maybe try Petty instead of Vince!
  18. Plus we had Tyson last night. Looking forward to Hunt getting fit and in form, to provide more run out of the backline!
  19. Aside from still being angry about the umpires changing the result of the game a few less cranky thoughts below. 1. Would happily play Port in a final, particularly in Melbourne. 2. Demons need to learn how to handle a flooded forward line. Bombing it to the same spot isn’t the answer. Agree with many posters on lowering eyes etc. 3. When I saw Tyson, Vince and Lewis in the team, posted it makes us too slow and unfortunately was proved right. 4. One of Garlett, Spargo or even Bugg should have been in forward line for sharking at the fall of the ball. 5. We certainly had a crack, even if a few players didn’t have great nights. Which is normal for nearly every team every week, if you studied every game. Only issue is when it’s the same 3-4 appearing in the bottom 6. 6. Our best players are still young and will get better at dealing with big games. In comparison Ports better players bar Wines will be finished in 3-4 years. 7. Did I mention the umpires, Port had 26 players, hard to beat!
  20. He hit Brayshaw with a perfect pass and the umpire didn’t pay the mark in last 5 mins!
  21. Still Melksham & Hannan both caught high inside 50 in last quarter, nothing. How many Port goals came from frees or 50 metre penalties!
