Farewell Sam Weideman
Brown is ready to go now, and needs to fit into our system before the finals. He been an All Austrlian nominee 3 times, kicked 292 goals, leading goal kicker 4 times, 28 years old, uninjured and in his prime. Sam has kicked 49 goals in 5 1/2 seasons. its a no brainer for me. Sam may be great next year or the year after, who know? but he is not great now.

Is Jack Viney an automatic inclusion?
Ask the doctors. I would only bring Viney back in if he can last until finals. That is when he will be needed. He lifts like no other player when the going really gets tuff. if not hold off until the medicos are sure his foot/toe/whatever else is cherry ripe

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
For those that think bringing Oscar Baker back into the side, here is my take. Baker is the Billy Stretch or JKH of the team- shows a bit of promise in the twos. Comes into the senior side for a game. Not up to it. Gets dropped for a month or two. An injury occurs so he gets promoted again, and the cycle goes on until he is delisted after 4 or 5 years. He has been with Melbourne for 4 years and unlike many players who have been recruited since 2018 cant cement a spot. Skills and endevour not up to it IMO.

GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Richmond
busy week at work and i have not followed the comings and goings at training- does anyone know why we did not pick either Weiderman or Brown?

Cody Weightman (Drafted by Western Bulldogs)
you forgot to mention his goto statement issued every game, multiple times " (insert player name here) arches his back" what does that even mean? and how is it insightfull? for me, a great commentator provides insight i dont know about. To merely describe what i can see is unhelpful.

Closer to the end
For me the difference between the Neeld era and the Goodwin era is that Goodwin has some seriously good players- they both IMO simply canโt coach. It now appears that Goodwin tinkered with Paul,Roos method which was fine before the rule changes ( 6,6,6 etc) It concerns me greatly that Goodwin likes to frequent the Sorrento Pub over summer with โthe boysโ and punt and drink with them. There must be a separation between a leader and those he/she leads. You simply canโt just be a mate. They are playing like a suburban club- perhaps he has found the Sorrento Footy clubs game plan?

Platitudes and Insanity
Insanity = Doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result. Platitudes = So, after the loss last week I watched our coach give his post match interview and noted the following quote : Godwin "Clearly we were inefficient forward off centre....We have got a lot of things to work on, especially forward of centre" Question "People might say, because it's a bit of a familiar story for a while, do you revisit the method?" Yeah we have revisited it (connection in the forward line) a few times" I thought to myself - I have heard this before, so re watched most of his interviews from round 1 2018 to the present (sad i know) Godwin quotes from post match interviews: Round 1, 2018 - "we've got some work to do inside forward fifty...64 (forward) entries is a lot and you should win games when you get 64 entries" (we lost) Round 14, 2018 - Question "you dominated the inside fifties" Godwin "our efficiency inside fifty wasn't the best tonight (we lost again) Round 18, 2018 = "we didn't connect well forward of centre, its a bit of a tale of our games this year where we struggled to connect...inside fifty. Round 2, 2019 - "we need to connect better forward of centre" "Round 5, 2019 - "were not connecting with the ball forward of centre" Round 6, 2019 - "We got beaten forward of centre to often......we couldn't connect with our handball or kicking (inside fifty)" Round 18, 2019 - "were trying to find an avenue to goal....we had enough opportunities today" Round 22, 2019 - "our in efficiency (inside fifty) is making us look worse" Godwin quotes over the last 2 years - featured in most post game interviews: "we played a pretty good football team tonight/today" "I understand that the fans are frustrated and deserve better" "We are going to work really hard to get ourselves out of this position" "Ive/we have full confidence in this set of players" "Im not interested in the past" (maybe thats why he learns nothing from it?) What else did I learn? I doubt we have played the same 6 players in the forward fifty for more than a few weeks in a row. Just about everyone and his dog has played in our forward line. Seems to me that until we solve this issue we are doomed to dwell at the bottom of the ladder.

Rd 01: Weideman vs Jackson
maybe depends upon your view of his role? Ruck or key forward (midfield is a fantasey with our depth) a quick look at some comparables shows that in their first year: KF- Weid played 3 games, Jeremy Cameron played 16, (Watts 3), Tom Lynch 13, Gunston 3, Franklin 20 Ruck - Grundy played 7 games, Max 0, Goldstein 0, Nic Nat 10, rhys stanley 0, Ben Mcevoy 0, Steph Martin 8 If he truley is elite he could possibly slot in to support in either role- Im thinking that a year at Casey and in the gym is a better way to go

GAMEDAY: MS02 vs Hawthorn
What i am looking forward to: how good is our backline with what is our best lineups for a while- Lever, May, Hibberd, Jetta, Harmes and maybe Oscar finds his role how much difference do Langdon and Tomlinson make against quality opposition- im thinking a big difference Was Tracs game a one off last week or is this really the beginning of a possible B & F year Is Angus back Does the forward line finally gell - do we improve our conversion from inside entries and keep the ball in forward 50 Can our new midfield match it with or better the Hawks- i think they will Do we live to regret trading Frosty- I think we will Will Max show why he was made captain and will Jack silence a few Demonlanders - yes and yes And please God NO injuries I know its not for points but i can gaurantee both side want to win tonight

Jack Viney a Liability?
I can see you have trouble joining, pretty basic dots. So, because i like helping the strugglers i will break down my point into bite size chunks, that will be easily "mentally digestable" for you. Viney is made of tuff stuff He was not in a position to see Stack coming as he was focused on getting the ball- watch the vision Stacks bump was not tuff, as Viney had no chance to take evasive action or prepare himself. Its pretty easy, and some would say cowardly, to line up a player who cant see you coming. in comparison i posted vison of Viney bumping a west coast player front on- that is the WC player had plenty of time to see it coming A recognised true test of tuffness is being prepared to back into a pack without knowing whats coming - players who shirk this often never live it down - Viney has done this on numerous occasions - i have not seen Stack do the same (he may have?) I said it was borderline reportable - obviousely Stack was not reported. had he conected a few inches higher it would have been reported- therefore borderline (only just acceptable) On another matter- I think bumps belong in the game but they will be eliminated if players keep getting concussion. Concussion is mostly caused by bumping, and much more likely if a player does not see the bump coming. So if you think the Stack bump on Viney was "absolutely brilliant" i have a news flash for you- those types of bumps will be eliminated from the game in the next few years. And yes i am one eyed MFC supporter. I will leave it to others to judge if I am a simpleton? Regards SARgE

Jack Viney a Liability?
he goes alright for a small mid IMO - if half our players had Jacks intensity we would definetly be holding the cup this year

Jack Viney a Liability?
- Jack Viney a Liability?
i think Stack's day of reckoning is coming, its easy to line up a player on his blind side, who only has eyes for the ball, and deliver a bump that was bordering on reportable. Viney will back into a pack everday of the year- look me up when Stack does the same- Jayden Hunt

- Jayden Hunt
some of the opinions about Hunt have me in the confusion room- again. can we get some facts involved- i know it takes a bit of work- but it lifts the stadard of the discusison. Fact 1- Hunt was second in the goal scoring behind Trac last year Fact 2 - Hunt came 10th in teh B and F, so the club thinks he played better, during the year than 30+ other players Fact 3 - his 24 so has plenty of time to get better, he is just entering the period when AFL players mature and stop doing some of the silly mistakes - yet a lot of people on this post seem to be prepared to write of his whole carreer Fact 4 - "the need for speed" is now treated as a premium - Hunt is fast- his skills can get better - slow players tend not to get fast i for one think he has a bright future at MFC - and that Torpedo is still a highlight for me- POSTGAME: MS01 vs Adelaide
The issue i have with Spargo is he cant get a contested ball- which is fine not all players need to do that- so he is in the team to recieve a ball from someone who "gets the ball" and distribute it to a player who can do something with it- goal or move it forward when he is playing high OR kick a goal when he is playing forward (he kicked 2 goals in 8 matches last year) The problem is his disposal is often (at best 50/50) appaling and results in a turnover. A "link up player" like Spargo must have an efficency ratio more like 90/10. He is now in his 3rd year and will always be a fringe player who gets a game when all other options are injured. He may have worth a try but its now time to cut our losses and move him on next year. Kozzie has showm more in 10 minutes than Charlie has shown in 26 games, and we seem to have a few small forwards now.- Half-Time breaks
Gills Dills - would not know if you were up'em with a handfull of chairs- Farewell Sam Frost
This is going to bite us on the bum- like when we let Howe go - the Collingwood coaches turned him into a star- 2019 Player Reviews: #24 Jay Kennedy-Harris
Anyone that thinks we should keep JKH needs to stop taking non prescription drugs- after all these years he canโt break into the team, on a consistent basis, and when he does he either turns the ball over or gets rag dolled by the opposition. Absolute list clogger - Jack Viney a Liability?
