Red But Mostly Blue

Despite the umps, and ourselves for 2.5 quarters, we have come away with a good gritty win against a hard-working tigers outfit who came to win. We still have a long way to go, but these are important steps forward!

We take the win obviously, but there are some things we need to look closer at. Our backline was poor, still too much millionaire football, and our forward structure is a mess. Having said that, positives: wrestling the game back, JVR and what a crowd!! Learn from this and take the W onwards Go Dees 🔵🔴

We really need a goal to adjust the momentum. We’ve been lucky they have been inaccurate.

I love your optimism. I felt the same against the bombers last week and we never showed up. Worried we’re not going to turn up today either but happy to jump on board your positive sentiment!

Does anybody notice how, just like last year, every team we play against knows they have a chance of winning if they just work hard. We were average against the WAFL Eagles, destroyed by the bombers and getting shown up again today.

Doubt it. Where was the spray when we weee getting towelled by the bombers? My guess is we’ll do more of the same after HT, lose then talk about how this is not our brand of footy. Not us. Etc.

Umps awful but not as bad as us. Hopefully that ignites some momentum.

Who are we???!! This sucks. Last week we lost to a team who won’t go the distance and will again this week because we don’t work hard enough. Too many excuses. No imagination. We have nearly a full strength team out there. This is embarrassing.

We look so refreshed after a 9 day break. Lots of intensity. Great to see given the excuses we got re travel and maybe fatigue for folding to the bombers last week. POOR

Backline putrid again. We’re being shown up by a non contender. Again.

Had a good sleep on this. OK… Teams have bad days, I get it. But this is our SECOND very bad day in just 5 rounds. In both cases we were outplayed and outworked by a team who wanted it more. We may have been tired last night from travel, who knows, but that’s a lazy answer - we had team mates burning each other, and guys playing millionaire football. No teamwork. it’s time to wake up - WE’RE NOT THE REIGNING PREMIERS anymore. That would be the cats. Either we get used to hunting now - do we want this dynasty or not?? We can either be the Doggies and rest on our one flag, which would be such a waste given our list or we can play our guts out week in, week out - and earn it!!. The bombers were hungry and smart last night, and they outran us. Where did our intense levels of training go??? Wasn’t that what we kept hearing? Anyway, I hate that I never know which version of my club will turn up at games. We’ll never be great, and we’ll never have that dynasty they talk about so much until consistency is in our DNA. So annoyed at last night’s loss. Wasted points in what will obviously be a very tight season 😔

The bombers will do absolutely nothing this year. Hope they enjoy the win, and that we learn from this.

Given a bath. The bounces went against us and they took their chances with some lucky goals but that’s not why they won, they won because they worked harder, wanted it more and were better coached. We came in arrogant and complacent. i hope we don’t sweep this away as a one off because other teams will beat us the same way if we continue to turn up expecting wins with lazy football. Pretty bummed after that.

I’ll watch the first half of this quarter but will likely turn off if we haven’t changed anything. I’ve seen this game before and where it goes. We came out arrogant and lazy, and have been shown up by a team who won’t do much this year and will be beaten by teams who bother to have a dip. Gross performance so far. We will need to lift to win, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen. I hope so- we can win! But it’ll take the boys pulling their fingers out.

Good news is that they can’t play much better and we have much we can improve on. Not losing to those cheats in Adelaide.

Our inconsistency is frustrating. We turn it up against the swans, and now struggling against the WAFL eagles. It’s momentum killing stuff, even if we eek out a win. Hope we wake up and realise we have to earn a win.
