As they say, you gotta spend money to make money! (although I wouldn't know, no money and all haha). But yeah, an expensive (but decent) list (even if I'm not sold on Lyon).

100% The expectations were clearly made, and no wriggle room afforded. Finals every year. No finals this year, he fails and we move on. The cost of a lost window, lost talent who want success/money etc, as well as members who leave in droves if he stays... is too high. No finals, Goody goes.

I know there's a lot of talk here of it being too expensive to get rid of Goody, and that may be true, but really the cost of NOT removing him, and instead waiting 2 more years (where some of our very expensive recruits will be out of their prime), then waiting the normal transition period for this to gel with a new coach, is far greater. Plus we could lose some in the next year or two (some should go, spuds like ANB, OMac, Wagner etc), but some might leave for success and more money. Who could blame them? So we're at a real risk of missing our very narrow window, if that window in fact exists. As for the answer? Geez I've never like Lyon's gameplan (although at least he seemed to have one), so maybe Clarko if he was actually free, but I worry about the false confidence that long time successful coaches will strike lightning at a new club, such as Sheedy. We need someone ruthless, no BS. Won't tolerate our [censored]*poor culture. Yze is junior sure but he'd be worth a look. At least he might care about our jumper.

Garry Lyon: "why aren't we a ruthless, unconditional club"...and why are we asking that question at round 16? We've had all season and all pre season after a season of disappointment to get there. Spot on, Garry.

I'm sick of Goody mentioning the 'tough conditions' - they're the SAME BLOODY conditions that Freo played in!

I know there are some people here who say Goody doesn't go now because it's expensive etc (which I get), but correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the plan to make finals every year? No finals this year, fail. There's not even enough give in the plan to make it up next year. No finals, no gig. Out.

Agree. Not a big fan of everything he says and I wish he did something to help rather than just take pot shots, but he's not wrong. The thing is people don't like ugly truths.

I also feel for Langdon. Came for success, I wonder if Freo would take him back? Haha

Can't wait for Maxy's positives, and Goody's Magoo presser. We lost it in the first half (not true though, we were crap all game except for a few minutes). This isn't our brand. Not where we need to be, we need to be a lot better as a footy club. We're not thinking about finals, we're looking at the next game. Blah blah blah

We can now add the Dockers to the list of teams that have overtaken us. And Hogan was there for it! Ugh.

I'd say we're headed for another rebuild, and we need to recruit some talent... ... But seriously who the hell would want to come to us? We're a basket case, the culture is broken and we can't be bothered even doing the basics.

If Goody wants to be coach next year, and if the boys actually want to play finals footy, if there's any shred of pride, even a skerrick of love for this club, an ounce of heart for us as long, long time suffering members, we'll come out and show it. Let's see.

I thought it hurt to be shown up by the Swans, but to be chasing the Dockers around like headless chooks? Its a special kind of hell. Reserved for only the worst. Think back friends, what did you do to deserve this? We must have done something, because there's no other reason for this.

On the upside, we haven't 'gone missing', as we haven't turned up yet! To be fair though, there's nothing stopping us turning up, then going missing.

Bad.

What I mean by great club is the legacy, as in something worth saving. If there wasn't that, I'd say bugger it, sell the bloody thing for parts. We're worth saving, but as you point out, it'll take actual hard work - which is something we have not proven over any material period of time (unless you count the hard work editing the marketing videos). Also 'institutionalised complacency' is spot on.

Wasn't finals a non-negotiable for Goody, as part of the plan? I still think we CAN make the finals, as we have the talent and CAN play, when we want to, but given our spotty record over the last million years I almost don't want us to, as I vividly remember the last finals game we technically attended. If we don't make finals, is that it for Goody?
