  1. can i ask why? being genuine here. He showed at melbourne that he struggled at afl level and probably got saved from being delisted by melbourne having new coaches all the time. And he did nothing at Port which showed we probably should have cut him 4 years earlier. baffling comment from a guy that never made the grade.
  2. why were you angry? wasn't 8 years of below average footy enough?
  3. Dr.D

    OMAC??

he's not a key position. he's a spud that his key position height. Thats about it.
  4. His best was "as good as it gets"? geez, bit of an overstatement. He averaged 1.3 brownlow votes per season over 11 seasons. Thats "as good as it gets"?
  5. it's an opinion. I worked for Casey scorpions and watched him played weekly for Casey. and he didn't even play well at vfl level so that's why i say he was gifted 100 games.
  6. hardly around the waist. the waist is the top of the footy shorts. his arms go nowhere near it.

    Delistings

I was hoping for another 5 or 6 delistings today.
  8. it doesn't bother me. Jackson is a ruckman and not a forward so worst case scenario we get to blood jackson more. Geelong and Richmond have shown that you don't even need a ruckman so I'd be happy at using the pick to bring in our lists major deficiency: speed.
  9. I'm not having a go at jack personally. But I'm allowed to have my opinions on him the player. He was gifted about 100 games. and wasn't a starting 18 quality player on any list. the fact that he is 'polarizing' is just a reflection of some supporters inability to admit that he just wasn't good.
  10. I remember when half of demonland was up in arms when we shafted Watts to Port Adelaide for nothing. I was one of a few that maintained that we would not miss Watt and he wouldn't do anything at Port because he is still soft. it was yet another confirmation of Melb supporters overrating their players
  11. tom McDonald doesn't have the decision making skills to be played in defence. that's what made him a good forward. see ball, mark ball, kick goal. he isnt a defender
  12. I never liked the way he tackled Shuey high in the finals with 10 seconds to go that cost Port their season a few seasons ago. I know it's only 1 piece of play but we need guys with high IQ because we already have far too many dumb players on our list.
  13. Give Goodwin another chance? Almost threw my phone against the wall reading this. He should've been sacked at the end of last year. Yes, we had injuries but going frkm 4th to 17th is a sackable offence. If his contract is too big then fine, wait 1 season. That season has happened (this year) and we haven't seen any improvement. Our losses were horrendous this year and anyone who has played any sport at any level can look at Goodwin and tell you that he isnt the sort of coach that would motivate you to play. Must be sacked ASAP. How are we going to improve next season? Will Goodwin come up with a magical game plan that no other coaches have thought of? No. Do we have any good draft picks coming in that can instill a fresh, exciting aura? No. Will we get more injuries next season? Most likely. Will we have a key forward? No. Will we still have a slow midfield? Yes.
  14. id cry if Oliver left. And no compensation would make up for it. Especially not from Carlton. Would run us back 3-5 years trying to find a replacement 2xbnf, AA, 23 year old. Why would any player be happy with the team with Goodwin running the show. Did anyone hear the corpse speak at the bnf. He puts you to sleep. There's no way a person likethat can pump you up on game day.

    Delistings

better be heaps more. including Omac
  16. Must be sacked. it's unfortunate but he's missing the first 4 weeks on suspension anyway. Then, AT BEST, he makes his way into the team around round 8 then he's lost 1/3rd of the season. It's not worth keeping him on.
  17. good post. I agree with all of it. I probably would've been harsher on Pickett but I thought Weideman had an ok season considering the quality of our forward entries.
  18. It's all well and good saying we need to prioritise a forward but there's no-one of any quality that's available. And the reason we need Saad is because we are the slowest [censored] team in the AFL! he is a must get. have people forgotten how bloody slow we are? how slow jetta is? We need Saad and then we need to focus the next 2 drafts on getting speed in. that's how slow we are.
  19. I love it how if we got Williams he would've been a gun back flanker that offers speed and foot skills but because we didn't he is definitely not worth that amount of money and isn't that good. lol
  20. Williams officially announced Carlton as his club of choice. end thread. positive news is that it means we are more likely to get Saad then.

so you've done a thorough medical on petty and have come to the conclusion that he will never get better? People have forgotten how handy Petty is
  22. Perryman is the only one id touch.and he requires a first round pick minimum
  23. I think anyone wanting to add Cameron doesn't grasp where we are at. We are very close to having to rebuild. We need to go to the draft But if we do trade in anyone it certainly won't be Jeremy Cameron who is 27 and costs over 900k a year.
  24. Doctors diagnosis The end is now upon us. And whilst I have drawn criticism for being excessively critical of the team and coach I believe now is a good time to reflect on the positives and negatives of the year as well as something to look forward to for 2021. I will start with the positives: - Injuries and the recruitment of Burgess. Burgess has done his part for the club. He got us fit and got us through the season unscathed. A big tick. - Draftees: Rivers, Jackson and Pickett. They have all got valuable senior experience. Jackson will spend another 6 months getting big in the gym and Pickett will hopefully be taught how to slow down and get some composure when the ball is in his hands. Rivers will hopefully continue along his natural trajectory. - Langdon: We've now found a young player that suits our needs. A great find. - May: An AA calibre season. Takes some of the pain away from not having King. Needs to hit 2021 on good shape again. - Trade period: Even though Mahoney is criticised a lot for some of his decisions he doesn't get the credit he deserves for the things he does right. He is proactive during trade week and he will be proactive again. With many deficiencies and no first round draft pick we need someone who can be proactive during trade week. Negatives: - Game style and structure: Our consistent loss of clearances despite having elite clearance winners and an elite ruck is a worry. Consistently our inside midfielders not understanding the concept of space at a stoppage and getting beaten easily and often without being able to stop the flow. - Accountability: This is across the board. Oscar McDonald starting a game against Brisbane not even on his opponent highlighted our lack of defensive mindset. This was confirmed with our stoppage structure at vital stages of matches like against GWS with 15 seconds to go and no-one manning Josh Kelly. We need to lift in this area and putting Harmes in as a tagger helps with setting the defensive tone of the entire midfield. -Lack of Speed. Our lack of speed compounds the issue of defensive accountability. Even if the desire is there we have too many one paced players. Significant speed needs to be brought into the club. Probably over 2 national drafts. Next year we will be playing on the mcg. A much bigger ground. We will be exposed even more if we don't make this a heavy focus. - Goodwin: He continues to frustrate fans. He seems slow to react on game day as well as being slow to make correct selections. He ultimately hasn't been able to address our lack of defensive accountability since 2018. We are still far too easy to score against. - Tom Mcdonald: His decline has coincided with our decline and put a lot of pressure on Weideman to be the man. - Players who have gone backwards: Brayshaw, Harmes, Melksham, Fritsch and Hunt. We need to see improvement from at least 3 of these guys next season.
