  1. So what if he did? That time machine provided the Dees with heaps of premierships and some phantastique footy memories.
  2. There is some real meaning in this by-line. Northey had this approach but we were still not quite ready,
  3. Yep, nailed it, certainly. No more specific emphasis on talls. With a running game change, and our existing set-ups, unstoppable. Added benefit would be to get nasty onfield, not in a rule violations way but in sheer desire for the ball and its positive progress to our advantage. Absolute teamwork and widespread directional intent to all players on the field. No more long-bombs, no more panicked feed-outs and certainly, no more personal statistics gathering.
  4. On those photos, Jetta is gonna win the Brownlow!
  5. Fairy Nuff, DP. Glad you can judge.
  6. I think AN-B is setting himself up as a new God after his great season just past. However, I also think he using using his reference to God in terms that might not elicit much sympathy from the masses. However, they are trying... his running this year has been so good ... and hard to catch.
  7. Do they have life-vests?
  8. Probably agree with you, here. He does know his stuff. I'd reckon that he'd be a very good coach - and if I was a young bloke in the team, I'd be a little intimidated with circumstances with the Ox if I did not 'put in, at the max...'
  9. ...and behave, at our (the MFC) expense, accordingly ... it has always annoyed me. Remember when Tilbrook was recruited? Remember when this skiny kid, a weed in the tall grass started playing and advanced to Jumper #2?
  10. Yes, you're correct. I lived off High St in Malvern and remember hitching eastwards to Monash Uni down High St nearly 'all the way', turning right at McDonalds. That was a very long time ago. Anyway, thanks for the 'refresh'.
  11. Macca's started in Melb in 1970 on the corner of Springvale Rd Blackburn Rd, in Mt Waverley. I remember getting food poisoning there.
  12. That is one to watch out for, Ox. Thanks for the reminders.
  13. So, what are the updates on jumpers, form and training indicators for Keilty and Maynard?
  14. Yes, and he did it so well. Of the games that I saw him play last season, he was forever encouraging with younger players and assisting others to find 'avenues' and to create new territories on-ground for improved team play. Watching this, it was virtually impossible to misread his discussions of this type. Talking, pointing, slapping bums when he'd finished - it was like having a coach on the field - similar to what Ditterich used to do as captain-coach. If he has slowed himself, fairy nuff. His role was always to teach our brigade. He has the experience and acuity to do these things onfield - and he'd still win more of the ball than nearly every one of his opponents. Sometimes, two. Heil, Lewis.
  15. Appropriate comment and for supporters who should be uniting in a common interest, a very good moment of reflection. This site is capable of improved quality and value to us all; thank you, WJ.
  16. Terribly sad, and one with such terrific potential, once. Let's stop the name-calling and redundant criticism of him to allow those about him, and himself, recover and reset his wheels. He did many very good things for us as supporters, remember? AFL pressure is something that I would think few of us could endure, at best.
  17. Oh, Barry...as in Vagg. What a good idea! He's a biggie, ain't he? Great player, Vagg.
  18. Sure is looking stronger and more demonic. Great to see, and let''s hope it comes out on game day.
  19. Was that 'Oscar the Orrible' being out-positioned, again?
  20. Seems to be an element of altruistic superiority amongst some of our forum contributors. Noticed it several times - and it is not even 'black' humour, more like arrogance. Saty writes well and meaningfully. His opinion is respected and contributory.
  21. I got into a Melb-Rich game back in 1960 for free! Tickets were issued at skool as I lived in the Richmond zone in Melb, in Malvern, and we had pies and pasties with heap'sa dead horse on top carried on trays by some of the greats and I remember Jack Dyer farnarkling around spilling soft drinks and cordial as he progressed through the crowd! But, I loved the Demons, even then....so it was a win, win, win and pretty special.
  22. Elegantly posited, Skuit. Can you imagine Leigh Matthews tolerating such prejudice?
  23. Oh, Ron will be happy ... one of our own, at No.31
  24. There is little doubt that he would let us down come the new footy season. Let him recover - on the training and preparation side of things, Viney is a benchmark to all players across all clubs.
