  1. Yes, was there. For years I could not believe what he had done, starting in the third quarter. Farmer was hailed as the 'Wizard' by Gary Lyon and how correct was that description? We saw it in so many things he had done in the game. Running to position, taking the speccy, providing a target - it was all there that day. This video should be shown to the current talent at the Club, it demonstrates that if you have the desire, anything can be done. Farmer made it look easy that day - and in reality, most of it was - a thinking footballer who optimised the rest of the team. The Filth were filthy once shat upon.
  2. The bloody niggling media - anything for a story that increases circulation and advertising revenue. Perth may well be a wonderful place for Jesse to holiday, chill out, muck about. Fantastic for him. Melbourne is a great place for him to work, train, develop, get rich and plan for the non-football days that will come in just over a decade. We, the people of the east, love him for what he has done and what he is doing, and will do in the future, in Melbourne, with Melbourne and one day, as the captain of Melbourne. Hang cool, Jesse, you are doing fine. I like the way you do not even respond to these journalistic suppositions.
  3. I agree about the Gawn-Grundy contest against the Filth. Gawn would/will win, comfortably yet Grundy has been doing a few things around the ground and in general play - and feeds Treloar quite well. (Here we go again:) if we play Pedo, he might feel motivated to do 'the steamroll' on Grungedy, without any problems; he might also have a chance in the best interests of the game to roll/flatten Treloar should the latter come too close to the former (Pedo). After all, these are both representing the Filth. I am sure Hibberd will have his targets - more subtle, of course - to add that flash of colour to the Filth's jumper (notably, red for blood) and a smile or two to add to the irony of such terrible bad luck for a Filth player. Doggies are down and unsure - they do have talent - but not enough system just yet to dent the bonnet under the Dees. A win for us by about 50 pts, at least.
  4. Agreed, we see it every game, almost. Clarrie is too quick for the myoptic umpires. Shame they do not watch the replays just to learn how quick his handball disposals actually have been. Turning a blind eye will not slow him down ...
  5. This is a very significant factor, providing run, coverage and innovation.
  6. We have the arsenal, now it is time to start thinking of revenge - Geelong, Richmond and the frigging Filth.
  7. Max's new taps are flushing good water directly to our middies - not the glass variety but those made of steel.
  8. Thanks for that - diminishing memory at work, again.
  9. I'd like to think that was not the case because I am so happy we did get Clarry and they blew it by selecting Parish, in comparison. That left Clarrie as our pick who they also wanted. They had the dilemma, we had a clear run.
  10. Great little 'trick' that recruiting effort of the Dees. The mantra was well spread for several weeks: ' ... we want Parish, we want Parish ...' but we didn't want Parish, did we? We wanted to deflect attention from Clarry, coz '...we want Clarry, we want Clarry...' and the poor Essendrug team fell for it. Picks at that level of drafting order sometimes work out that way.
  11. It would seem that way, and these players were all very good in the Alice.
  12. This forum provides more detail and slices of current footballing matters than all of the media put together.
  13. And if anyone should know how good this progress actually has been and currently is, it is the great John Northey. My favourite Dees coach since Sir Norman Smith.
  14. This 'running to good position' is now the key to success in our game.
  15. I had a dream: we refuse to co-habitate the MCG with 'foreign', well treated teams. Our member numbers soar to unprecedented heights as a result of this new dynasty that lasts and lasts. At the five year point, we begin building our own home ground away from the 'G, merging with a floundering Richmond to build a compact yet beautiful stadium (that just fits our extensive membership on one side in luxurious comfort where every seat is a $200 view of the ground and electronic scoreboards). The stadium has no location in my dream but it does serve a plated hot meal with good cold beer to all member patrons. There are no 'corporate' luxuries, it is a people's palace with a free pie and sauce to non-members, a can of Coke or a cuppa tea/coffee. We dictate to the AFL (and they have no capacity to refuse) that all of the MFC-R games will be played there on Friday nights, only. Away games dovetail perfectly for the same privelege to be extended to the Casey team on the odd away match and they use the ground as their membership has also gone 'through the roof'. The whole place becomes football central and the Pies, the Blues, the Bombers and the Cats fold in their increasing misery. Someone telephoned ... and that was the end of the dream ....
  16. That can be a great feeling. My neighbours, here in Adelaide, are not talking to me this morning as I have a little 'Demon' red and blue flag wafting in the breeze just outside my front door. Let me elucidate: the whole street is not talking to me. They are all hiding inside and their Crows flags have been taken away and are hidden somewhere - however, it is the morning for the garbage to be collected by the local council so I can guess where half of these Crows flags now reside. Good onyer, Dees! Not just a win, a total shellacking!
  17. Yes, I'd reckon that is the case and was thinking that with a few of his anti-Crows breakaways during the game. Seems like the layoff that he has endured brought on some other forms of training that assisted running speeds and faster take-offs in a straight line for the ball - watch out, Doggies, the Filth and others, he's on a mission to take this train to the end of the line - a premiership.
  18. They are all playing their roles superbly; however, those roles are different and upon looking at the lists of great players for the match, it is next to impossible to rank players of a team when they are doing different things so well ... and then they merge these differences into a team effort for success. Their skills are seen but these come into play when opponents make mistakes and errors of judgment. Some receive from Fook Ups more frequently than others; some just beat opponents through mindfulness; some combine either setting-up a multi-carriage of the ball or just participate in that chain; all do what is correct for the team more often than making their own mistakes to impede the team. We are at a peak at present - fewer errors of all kinds, more effort to multitasking responsibilities and improved judgment across the board.
  19. Tex did open his big mouth at the bottom of his empty head and now what he said so philosophically is back, biting his enormous bum. He'd be lucky to retain the captaincy, let alone get a game again this year.Touche, Dees.
  20. Spargo needs to be ready for the Filth.
  21. The Filth won't acknowledge anything about the Dees until they, too, are thrashed as comprehensively as others have endured over the past five weeks. We all knew that it could pan out this way and incredible depth has facilitated a team of up to 30 hungry players.
  22. Want to thank you guys for progress reports and keeping us all in the know. It was a great effort, widely appreciated. Glad to hear that the Casey fellas did well, again. There seems to be some real depth coming along. Thank you, again.
  23. The Adelaide 'Advertiser' and its panels of Crow/Port experts basically ruined Saturday's newspaper this morning with everything but direct statements that Lever is going to be sorry he transferred to the Dees. It was full of inuendo about 'lost mates' and 'aggressive moments' from the Crows. Jake, of course, is above all that and its appearance of direct aggression will just wash off like water on a duck's back. It most probably is going to be another very black day for the Crows and if they lose it in recriminations and aggression towards Lever, it is also going to be quite amusing. Carna Dees....
  24. Miss this guy in the firsts - talent with just a bit more control needed.
