Greater Western Sydney (a dynasty to rival the Hawks)
Flamingdees replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
The problem I've got is that the Giants will lose players that aren't getting a game and continue to bring more talent in through the draft. They will get picks for McCarthy, Stuart, Marchbank, Hoskin-Elliot etc etc. Theyve just made a prelim final and over the past few years have lost Tyson, Hombsch, Frost, Treloar, O'Rourke, Boyd, Miles, McCarthy, four blokes to Carlton. Where does it bloody end...... Because they have had so many picks they can take a risk in the draft on a smokey like Lobb. Other clubs can't afford to do this. I hope your right in saying the cultures no good up there. When they eventually do bottom out and it will happen I hope their players look forward to playing infront of crowds of 5000 or less. -
Think Dawes and Pederson might depend on what may go down with Jesse.

Spelling not my strong suite either. -
Mitchie (R) - gone. King (R) - gone. White (R) - gone. Grimes - gone. Terlic - gone. Newton - gone. Dunn - trade. Garland - trade. Spencer - no choice but to keep. ANB - keep. Trengove - just signed so looks like he's staying. JKH - keep. Obviously Oliver, Weid and Hulett will be on the Dee's list next year. Wagner will be upgraded. Going to be challenging to bring too many kids in this year with no first round pick and Hibberd moving to the Dee's

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
Flamingdees replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sadly another trade we lost out in. Kennedy's got four years on Howe so let's hope for some improvement. -
IMO from today's dismal performance. Grimes, Terlic, Newton are certainties to be delisted. Rookies in Mitchie and White are gone. Although Max King didn't play today he's another rookie who is gone in my view. Spencer will be retained as a back up for Gawn. Didn't look near the class of the Dogs rucks today. I know his just re-signed but wouldn't mind seeing Campbell in the red and blue. Trengove, not sure why they re-signed him. Loved him as a player but going by today's performance his cooked. Dunn and Garland, I'd be keen to hang on to Dunn. Positives, Oliver looks like a 200 game AFL player. Weideman looked good in the first half. Hulett looked ok in patches. Did we actually get the ball inside 50 in the third quarter. Joel Smith, if he can improve next year again we've got a player on our hands. Salem was badly missed today. Clearly our best last week before he was injured. Would have provided us some composure off half back.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

How anyone can suggest that Hogan is not a vital and integral part to our team is incomprehensible. No need to go into his statistics and achievements as they have been discussed in neumerous posts, they are quite exceptional for a 21 year old key forward. IMHO I too think Hogan will leave the Dee's. I also believe we are better off trading him this year if he wishes I return home. 1). We will more than likely be in a stronger bargaining position re a trade. 2). All the media will talk about next year is Jesse's contract. Also can't see Fyfe leaving the dockers and WCE will also be right in the mix for a trade if he decides to return home. Hoping against hope that he'll continue to ride the imament wave of success with the Dee's by signing a long term deal but me think that's looking more unlikely by the day. -
Pick 3 and 13. Got 20 back.

Player makes a decision on where he wants to go and manager makes sure he gets the best possible dollars and contract term possible for that player - sounds quite simple. Was said on radio the other day that some clubs can't stand particular managers. They have threatened clubs with influencing other players they manage to move to another club if hey do not meet demands for a particular player. Was also said that Brisbane would have likely passed on Weitering if they had first pick in the draft last year and picked Schace at number one because they have a crap relationship with Weiterings manager. -

Well thought out post. Agree on your thoughts re the CBA. Clubs and player managers would have a fair idea on what the CBA is going to provide. Could easily have been factored in, in my view. Like you I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to go. If he does all we can do is get the best possible trade for our club and move on. -
Hartlet's on massive coin so Port might find it tough to move him on. Handy player though.

Hey Kent, I've always only spoke highly of Jesse and talked him up as a player with a [censored] load of potential. -
Amazing how GWS have all these blokes in the 2's that can't get a game. They'll get decent draft pics for these blokes and continue to pick up more talent.

Maybe Sydney will lose Mitchell and then go replace him with another gun academy player. Pisses me off no end.......

So much reverse psychology going on in this thread. If Jesse stays he's the complete player. If Jesse goes he wasn't that good anyway. -

Like your post 1858. History tells us players who indicate whey want to stay with a club only to put contract talks on hold rarely stay. So yep all indications point towards him leaving. in regards to trading him this year or next year if he comes out now and says I want to go trading him this year might actually get us a better deal. Freo have pick 3. Also trading him now would mean we don't have a media circus next year. -
God forbid Maxy going down but if the unthinkable happened and we didn't have Spencer as a back up things might just get a bit ugly. As for McInerney the times I've seen him playing for Casey this year he looks like he might be a handy VFL player but not thinking he can step up to AFL. Just my thoughts on what I've seen this year.
