  1. The below is copied off the AFL site, Has this rule/plan changed since 2015? If not, why do we get stuck playing 4 top 6 teams twice?
  2. Do the Tigers finish 3rd or us? Both knocked out in preliminary final, Tigers were higher ranked, but we were knocked out by eventual Premiers? (Edit: I googled it, we finished 4th ??)
  3. I don't really like the idea of "trading up" for this draft. As I understand this "Super Draft", it's not that the top end are all guns like Judd and Hodge etc, it's just deeper, more talent to pick from. I also believe this draft will have a few more talls going early, then midfield depth will follow, hopefully this means we can snag a good young outside mid with the picks we have?
  4. They smashed Frankston who are poo. If I'm reading it right, VFL do a 6,5,4,3,2,1 vote system for each team? Billings only got the 1 vote for Sandy, with 53 touches and 3 goals. ? Remember that JKH constantly racks up massive possessions against better VFL teams than Frankston for Casey, yet struggles at AFL level. ?
  5. Amusing how some are criticising Brayshaw's kicking on one hand, but then stating that Trac is elite/better etc? When you compare their career stats they're basically the same, for everything, and I'd argue that Brayshaw has had the more interupted run of games to get his touch. If you actually want to go off this years Disposal Efficency, Brayshaw 68.5% (avg 3 clangers per game) Petracca 63.6% (avg 4.8 clangers) Oliver 72.2% (avg 4.4 clangers) Personally I think Brayshaw is more rounded, can use both sides of his body. Petracca is more x-factor, I don't recall him ever kicking opposite foot? I love the upside of both players and would love both to end up one club players with 250+ games. ??
  6. To be fair, Roos answered the question put to him and stated that it would be unusual for a "line" coach to be on the bench, but that he didn't know what role Macca was playing.
  7. Maybe McCartney had a shot at our fwd and midfield coaches for letting the ball rebound too easy and make his backline work, and look, bad? ? I wouldn't be worried if it was as plain and simple as having his experience on the bench for better communication?
  8. The 11 Home Games general admission membership is $221. If you're sitting in M51, that's the Demon Seats Plus Open Air package, that's $429 for a single adult.
  9. Males replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is there a dominant and permanent forward in the game at the moment? Hawkins is probably the closest to a permanent forward but most push up high in defence, or rotate position, and then push back in attack. I'll be very surprised if he does get moved on at the end of the year, I think the kid has shown us enough glimpses of what he can do. I'm looking at the 2020 season to be his breakout year. ?

I'll also point out that on draft night the commentators on Foxtel all agreed that Weideman would be the steal of the draft at No.9 if he could stay injury free. I don't see this as a mistake by our recruiting team. Hindsight picks are a load of BS and an easy shot at recruiting, how did Fyfe go at 20odd etc? ?

Fritsch may be a first year player but don't forget he is older then Weid, medium sized fwd instead of key position too. Weid was drafted injured, and has had an interrupted few years with little injuries too. I'm happy to give Weid another year or two before I'll expect to see him pushing for the 1's.
  12. The one little snippet I found, MELBOURNE star Christian Petracca has pledged his future to the Demons, adamant he wants to be a one-club player for the duration of his career.
  13. I haven't renewed my membership yet but will do so shortly, I always get distracted and forget in the off season. ?
  14. Selections before academy and father/son bidding: 29, 31, 36, 47 Selections after bidding: 29, 31, 37, 48 Who they picked: Charlie Spargo, Bayley Fritsch, Harrison Petty, Oskar Baker Verdict: Spargo is a terrific play-making midfielder-forward, with the capacity to take the play on and create for his team. He is the son of former North Melbourne and Brisbane Lions player Paul. Only a shoulder injury kept him from producing another consistent season. Fritsch is well known to Melbourne after kicking 42 goals in 19 VFL games for the Casey Demons. Petty will add to a developing tall back mix after an outstanding under-18 championships. Melbourne has long been into Baker who comes from Aspley in the NEAFL. Has been dubbed the 'ginger ninja' and it's clear by watching his highlight tapes that Baker has some serious breakaway pace through the midfield. The Demons believed they needed to add to their small forward setup and did so with Spargo and Fritsch. Look for Petty to push to be in senior contention early days too - he can play. - Ben Guthrie
  15. One of the interstate clubs to pick Andrew Brayshaw, in two years he wants to return to Melbourne and nominates the Dees. ?
  16. Haven't heard his name mentioned as a good pick by any of the footy shows, I might have missed it though? I wouldn't think we'd use our first pick on him, maybe 2nd or 3rd depending who else is still available.
  17. I wonder if Tex Walker was [censored] at Bernie for leaving the Crows too? Tight arse wouldn't of rang and abused Bernie though, he was living at Bernie's house, wouldn't of wanted to get kicked out. ?
  18. If we give up two 1st round draft picks for Lever, I'd be [censored], I'll renew my membership still, but the club would be pushing my limits. ?
  19. Forget Lever and pick up Andrew Brayshaw with pick 10. ? Both brothers to dominate our midfield, and less likely to want to leave the club with both there. ??
  20. I don't want to give up two 1st round picks. ?
  21. Love to get Brayshaw with our 2nd pick. ? Hopefully he's still there at pick 27 ?
  22. Instead of Pick 47 in this scenario, would it be worth more to us to try for their next years 3rd round pick?
  23. I seriously hope we don't cave in, play hard ball, if they don't except next years 2nd round pick, then bad luck, let them keep Hibberd for another year. We have to use 3 picks in this draft and we have the bonus of picking up Lewis, keep pick 29.
