WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Goodvibes replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope Casey Sibosado slides to our pick 40. -
With first round picks, as cliched as it sounds, you'd hope it would be a case of best available.

And sadly we're the second bottom team and have been in the bottom five for the last eight years. Beams went home. Griffen wanted to leave the state. And Boyd (through his manager) suggested he saw huge potential in their list. He made a choice. And they offered him ridiculous money. Who else would you target? Not easy this trade business when you're coming off eight years of terrible results. -

OK good start. Bad news I'm afraid Lamashtu - no interest from any club with the picks you are after. Now what? -

cough cough In Roos We Trust cough cough Maintaining a good working relationship with GWS may well be considered a priority. Two useful picks back and the option to use PSD 2 gives us some flexibility. I'd be holding fire until an official comment emerges from the club. -

There's definitely something wrong with the Trade Week structure if a mediocre player like Travis Varcoe can single handedly hold up proceedings. Is that what is happening here? -

Everyone is a little flat with the Trengove news but I still have expectations that we'll use one of our first two picks on an established midfielder. -

You're more tolerant than me Redleg. I've appreciated the GNF updates in the past and even last week but the riddle-driven direction of the past 24 hours lost me and I'm guessing there are others out there feeling pretty deflated right about now. Following this football club is hard work. We're bruised and battered and vulnerable. We should each come with a 'handle with care' sign. If people can gain enjoyment out toying with those emotions then good luck to them. Maybe I just need to lighten up as you suggest. Footy is fundamentally fun but trade week involves the movement of cattle. Unfortunately, as supporters we emotionally invest in those cattle. Some of us even know their names and not just their numbers. GNF has built a really positive reputation for his posts that usually provide the average supporter with cause for optimism. His Paul Roos coming to Melbourne assurances are a great example. And whilst we should not blame GNF for every piece of negative trade news that comes our way, he has deliberately created a guessing game scenario that was always going to create disappointment unless the best posible outcome occurred. He's in danger of souring his otherwise positive reputation. Whether that matters to him, I don't know. -

Thanks WJ. "Yet, by all accounts, around the club, he was just another person. When Melbourne's long-time doorman Arthur Wilkinson had a period when he couldn't drive, it was Flower, the Melbourne captain, who picked him up each night before training and took him home". So many great stories have emerged over the past week.

Or is it the extra 5 - 10 possessions Jones and Tyson will each get because the opposition sends their best tagger to Beams?

I think you're right which is why it makes it all the more interesting when two posters come out and make confident yet contradictory statements.
-
I don't do polls. Demonland overdosed on polls just over a year ago and we're still trying to recover.
-
Well trade week appears to have reached a most interesting point. Rumour and innuendo play a massively important part and we wouldn't have it any other way. If you don't have a source or a line on inside info this time of year, you're a pretender. So with this in mind, it appears one of three things will occur over the next few days. It remains to be seen which poster will survive to receive the adulation of all of Demonland. So place your bets ladies and gentlemen. Option One: All aboard the 'Chook in Perth' bandwagon. Dangerfield in red and blue. Rejoice! Option Two: JumpinJeremyHowe - new to the boards, confident swagger; assures us we're serious players in the Beams Battle. Option Three: They're both full of it. What'll it be folks???? Or is there a fourth option? Will GNF come through with some late mail?

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Goodvibes replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not really. If we didn't want the pick 12 we wouldn't have floated the move with Trengove and risked upsetting him as well the supporter base. This has all the hallmarks of a carefully considered release aimed at preparing us for what comes next. -

If you want to keep a player then you shut it down as soon as the opposition approaches and don't even mention it to the player in question. We've mentioned it to Trengove. We must want pick 12 for a reason to float the prospect of leaving to Trengove. No other reason to upset a player unnecessarily. -

Where you getting this from Cards? Pretty important to how most supporters perceive his potential move. -

If it's driven by the club then it seems near certain that we need the pick 12 to make another deal work. Coupling 2 or 3 with 12 can only mean a very very good player. I'm excited. Where's the 'Trust in Roos' brigade when you need them?
