  1. Certainly this is going to set the coaching merry go round in motion. A few clubs will be looking at Nathan Buckley, and Richmond's going to have the first opportunity to conduct formal talks with him. If Collingwood's serious about getting him then they're going to have to move quickly. Worsfold's safe. They love him over there. In a few years West Coast will be back up the ladder. There's quite a bit of talent there, they're just too young to be all that competitive this year. Harvey, on the other hand, is in some trouble. If they finish bottom 4 again this year (which is likely), I'm not sure if he'll be there next year. Neither will Pavlich, I don't think.
  2. An omen possibly?
  3. I'm not as convinced as you are. Richmond plays Subiaco well (as evidenced by last Saturday). West Coast have a lot of problems. They've got one forward, one defender, one midfielder and one ruckman. The rest of the team is developing. The derby will be one opportunity for them to get a win. Other than that, I'm not sure where the other win will come from. Us, possibly, but they suck majorly in Melbourne.
  4. The Kangas had such a high membership last year because it came after their decision to stay in Melbourne. They virtually pleaded with the entire AFL community to buy a membership. So you had lots of non-North Melbourne supporters taking out memberships as a means of supporting their decision. This year, those people don't want to spend the money again.
  5. No, Federer came back from 2 sets to 0 down to beat Haas. If ever Federer was going to win a French Open, it would be now.
  6. Come on, you think we've got an outside chance against Brisbane, in Brisbane? I think you're being very optimistic there. That's the first thing I thought as well. Maybe that was in reference to the WA teams, since he probably would prefer to stay in Victoria.
  7. Presti will take Miller/Newton, I'd think. Especially if we play Watts further up the ground.
  8. You're joking, right?
  9. This is the problem, one of the reasons he was dropped. He needs to work on what he does when we don't have the ball, and against Hawthorn, I thought he hit the deck too often and didn't get up quickly enough.
  10. That's more Miller's fault than Bate's. Bate's improving, his work rate is up on the first 6 weeks of the year. Thanks Rudeboy. Better stop wasting your time on Demonland and get to fixing that heating mate. As for Jurrah, well, I haven't been as excited about a player at Melbourne in years (read ever). Totally agree. Martin's been switched around all year. He isn't getting the time he needs to develop in one position. So far he's played all of FB, CHB, ruck and FF. He needs to be put somewhere (preferably in defence, because that's where he plays best) and stuck there for more than a week.
  11. Yeah, if he does play my expectations will be rock bottom. That way he can only exceed them!
  12. So, what, you two are hoping we lose on Monday? I agree that there are plenty of hypocrites on this website who will trumpet the notion of tanking when it suits us, yet when rival clubs do it they condemn it. But we've got 1 win on the board. We can afford 3 more under your rules, and I wouldn't back us in to win all of Richmond, WC and Fremantle. I'd be surprised if we did. This is the one game of the year that matters to this club, for so many reasons. We absolutely have to win.
  13. Gee, the Bulldogs really are struggling to drum up support, given that they're 3rd on the ladder. Poor them, they deserve it. If Hawthorn's season continues on the way it's been going so far, their membership figure for 2010 could be 10,000 down on this year (at least).
  14. Ah yes, here I can feel very lucky since my exams start on the Wednesday, so there's no guilt at all. Yay.
  15. Oh boy...
  16. Peter German's official report: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...09/default.aspx
  17. Agree. However, I think we'll see one, if not both, by the end of the year. Hopefully with good results too. So did I. I've been impressed with the improvement from Bate. Just when I thought everything was going to go downhill for him, he picked his game up. Bate stays.
  18. What's that for? I'd have thought that, given Collingwood's forward line, Martin could play as a forward this week.
  19. Fair enough. We certainly need to do something about our forward line. I'm nowhere near convinced that Newton's the answer, but I guess we can only play who we have.
  20. In: Robertson (plays QB well, need his goal kicking), Cheney (surely is doing enough at Casey to warrant a recall) Out: I have no idea. Miller certainly will come under consideration. Otherwise, Bell? Whelan?
  21. First of all, you can't seriously think that hitouts are a decent measure of a forward? I'll accept that my previous comment was biased. Newton's numbers may show equal or better output than Miller, but I think it would be fair to say that it's much of a muchness between the two. When Newton's had recalls, he's let us down. I really can't see the benefit of Newton for Miller.
  22. It's been confirmed: Wallace will finish as coach after this week's match against the Bulldogs. Source: SEN (taking the press conference live now)
  23. Nadal's out of the French Open! Defeated in 4 sets by Robin Soderling. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...3-11088,00.html Sporting upset of the year?
  24. About an hour ago on SEN Keven Bartlett said that his mail was that Wallace would coach this week and then sign off. Wouldn't surprise me. We'll see in 13 minutes I guess.
