  1. This is a 1.10 start, so that finishes at, what, 3.40 or so? That's still over an hour before the race starts. No problem. According to the report this will be the only match in Melbourne that day, so maybe that will draw some neutral supporters too.
  2. Better, yet, considering there isn't anything of note to see, why don't they play it live on the radio? Oh wait, they already do...
  3. Wow. I haven't seen Australia get pummeled like this for many years. 6/150, still 319 runs behind. This innings has exposed our bowlers. India's have gotten something out of the pitch, when ours couldn't get anything.
  4. Would have completely changed the complexion of this game. Dhoni comes in at 5/236, he wouldn't feel like hitting the big shots, maybe we pick him up too, then all of a sudden that's about 160 runs off their current total. I guess Rudi would have seen his foot being behind the line, but still, he should have referred. At 4/102, we don't even look likely of passing the follow-on target (though anythings possible with Hussey still there). If we have to follow-on, possibly by the end of today, we'll lose.
  5. That same argument exists in Carrara, but doesn't hold. Brisbane would surely increase the crowd. Richmond v Melbourne won't draw as much as Richmond v Brisbane. Yet Rich v Melb is the go.
  6. I was just reading Cricinfo, and I saw that Ganguly, who is 54 not out at the moment, was OUT (has been confirmed through replays) stumped when he was 35 off Cameron White, but the umpires didn't refer it to the 3rd umpire. How unfortunate for White, and, more importantly, for the Aussies.
  7. Exactly. When we bring anyone to the club over the next few years, we have to be sure they will improve the list in some way. Therefore, we don't take Houlihan, or any other delisted fringe player, just because they've been delisted and are in the PSD.
  8. If true, why wouldn't Carlton have looked during trade week? He hasn't been mentioned at all in any discussions. Surely, if they were going to part ways, they would have looked during trade week. Murphy could have looked at going to a decent club, and Carlton could have got something for him. I'm with Hannabal on this one. You're speaking of Tim Clarke, right? I didn't know he was in the leadership group, but that just shows the differences between Hawthorn and Melbourne, doesn't it.
  9. Brisbane's change to the Fitzroy jumper should mean there's one less team that our home jumper clashes with. As you said Dees Dayz, the two clubs played for decades with no problem of a clash (mind you so did every other combination of teams).
  10. I would assume that's referring to 2008 where Bruce was basically our captain.
  11. Brings home a bit of reality.
  12. Here's a stack of delistings: Richmond - Chris Hyde, Danny Meyer, Travis Casserly Port Adelaide - Greg Bentley, Adam Cockshell, Fabian Deluca, Nathan Lonie, Damon White, Ryan Williams (senior list) Daniel Boyle, Gavin Grose, Ryan Willits (rookie list) Hawthorn - Luke McEntee, Garry Moss, Zac Dawson, Tim Clarke (all delisted) http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...8-19742,00.html
  13. Oh for God's sake Mono. I'm getting pretty sick of seeing you slam every single one of YM's posts. It's more annoying than the posts themselves. Did you even read what he wrote? I agree with the whole post, except for Judd (who is still lightyears in front of anyone at Melbourne even with his injuries).
  14. Fantastic work there Jacey. You'd make a great politician. How about: How do you rate your overall performance in your first year? I'd be interested to hear how he appraises himself.
  15. Sorely missed over the last 2 years. I just hope his best isn't past him.
  16. 1 home Friday night game, but maybe also some away Friday night games? We're going to be on Foxtel a lot next year, which I guess is good if we're in Melbourne because it should encourage people to go to the match.
  17. Firstly, not your fault Schtaker, but how can there be an A&C option? How can Melbourne expect to finish next year with 1-4 wins and be able to sign up whoever we want? We've seen over the last 2 (at least) years that players just don't want to come to us. How could we possibly bank on drawing a 'star' to the club if we have another pathetic, bottom of the ladder year? Anyway, we absolutely must try to move up the ladder next year. We need to win some respect back. We need to shrug off the association with mediocrity. We need to give supporters some hope, so that they show up to games. I don't want to have to put up with another year in the bottom 4.
  18. Reminds me of Rudd's summit thing earlier this year. Maybe we can get Cate Blanchett to run ours as well...
  19. I thought the same, but actually the iPrimus sponsorship runs until October 31st. After that, I don't know what they'll wear (unless we've a new sponsor by then).
  20. Yeah, that's how I see it. If someone can do a good job in negating an opponent, and then add something to the team as well, then that's a good player to have.
  21. Yeah that's probably right. Lucky Carlton. But I guess in a few years time when players start coming out of contract, they'll have some salary cap issues.
  22. I got so confused last night. At about 9pm I tuned into ABC for an update, and they were wrapping up from the stadium, and crossed to news, then some other program. So I thought the match had been finished. But then I find out they kept on going, and there was no commentary from the ABC (which I love listening to by the way). Anyhoo, I'd say we're the definite losers out of that draw. Our lack of a frontline spinner = not good for Indian tours. White and Clarke didn't really bother any of the batsmen. As for Kumble, I think he'll give it one more shot (if he can). He's a bit stubborn and probably wouldn't want to finish on a match like that.
  23. Ok then. So I guess the ball's in O'Keefe's court then.
