  1. What? Jetta looks tired to me. It's not like he's dominating anyway. Give him a rest.
  2. You are 100% right. If there was a great post thingo on this board, I'd be giving you one.
  3. He looks tired. I think he will be a great player, but he's played 5 consecutive games at AFL level and I think that might have taken a lot of energy out of him.
  4. When they whack one of our players that's an on-field thing. I have no problem booing someone for what they do on the field. But we should leave their off-field problems alone.
  5. McLean is not a good kick, sorry Freak. He's just not. But I agree with your versatility point.
  6. Bartram - should be excused Bate - his worst game Bennell - showed some signs Bruce - not his best Davey - a fantastic kick Dunn - better up forward Frawley - most improved 2009? Jetta - tries hard; tired Johnson - just shocking overall Jones - good at stoppages Martin - a bright prospect McDonald - better than others McLean - much improved effort Meesen - better than Jamar Miller - unseen all game Moloney - another sterling effort Morton - too much handballing Newton - please drop him Petterd - played wrong position Rivers - kinda just went Sylvia - needs bigger efforts Warnock - another strong effort
  7. This is true. And it is the reason why people wrongly sing Bruce's praises. Too often he handpasses to someone who is flatfooted, not ready to receive the ball, but who does, meaning the disposal was 'efficient'.
  8. It's been done to death, but part of the problem can be attributed to the recruiting of the 2003-2007 era, when the priority wasn't good skills, but was strength and hard-ness. Hence we have Bartram, Sylvia, McLean, Moloney, Jones and Dunn, all of whom seem to do alright in the clearances/hard-ball stuff. But, Moloney aside, none of them are good kicks.
  9. Which makes the round 9 clash with Hawthorn (their home game) interesting.
  10. I've seen people here saying they were proud of the Melbourne supporters for booing Bock. I thought it was low and uncalled for. Plenty of people here happily bag Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Richmond supporters, yet what went on yesterday makes us look worse. I have to agree with Neil Craig when he said that the booing was in bad taste: Bock boos at MCG in poor taste, says Craig.
  11. Completely agree. Wrote something to the same effect in the changes thread. He didn't kick the goals because he's not good enough. We are wasting our time persisting with him.
  12. But the point is that he hasn't kicked 5+ goals in the past 2 games. We cannot continue to persist with a forward like Newton who does not have the ability nor the confidence to be taking set shots from 10 metres out. I agree that he does put pressure on when he doesn't have the ball, but he doesn't get the ball enough and his kicking isn't very good. I think he'll be a good player, but after 5 games at AFL level I think it's time he went back to Casey to practise his kicking. In: Maric, Robertson, Spencer, Wonaeamirri* Out: Newton, Jetta, Johnson, Bate* Johnson and Bate both played close to their worst games for the club yesterday. I think Bate needs a kick up the backside. He doesn't work hard enough IMO. Robbo kicked 5 goals for Casey yesterday. That's enough for me.
  13. Team for sure. They don't deserve crowds to show up to games when they play like they did.
  14. What's with people giving Sylvia votes? I hardly noticed him yesterday. We're all looking for consistency from Colin, and he certainly didn't get close to what he gave us last week. Anyway, 6 - Davey 5 - McLean 4 - Frawley 3 - Martin 2 - Moloney 1 - McDonald Davey is the only person who consistenly hit a target yesterday, hence the 6 votes. But McLean played his best game for the year yesterday.
  15. I rated Adelaide until yesterday. They were good against St Kilda and Geelong for most of the matches. But they were awful yesterday. Crap game plan, poorly executed. With horrible opposition they only managed 7 goals, two of which came in 1 minute. But at least they won.
  16. From what I saw yesterday, Dunn hasn't really improved that much. I think we all think better of him because he kicked 2 goals out of 4, but when we don't have the ball his defensive work is shocking. He consistently stands around doing nothing when he should be manning up or moving to a better zoning position. Useless without the ball, but if we're going to play him, he should be played forward.
  17. That Hawthorn match is their home game, not ours. Level 2 of the MCC, where it was basically 100% Melbourne, sounded like there were 30,000, not 14,000. Melbourne supporters, when given the opportunity, can make a lot of noise. Unfortunately we don't get much chance these days.
  18. Not to discourage people, but here's the bureau's forecast: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers with local hail and thunder. Winds northwesterly averaging up to 55 km/h, increasing up to 80 km/h during the morning then tending westerly in the early afternoon. Winds gradually easing into the evening. So the winds will die down as the match goes on. The 'rain' has been downgraded to 'scattered showers'. It'll be cold, but that's not enough to stop me.
  19. Except this year there was 84,000 thousand...
  20. How ironic is it that it's fine weather for the majority of the match, then, just as Essendon comes back and overruns Collingwood, it rains.
  21. Haha, oopsies. I had to read that a couple of times to work out what was wrong with it too... Edited.
  22. That was so incredibly sweet. Collingwood were pretty poor for most of the match. And how do you concede 3 goals in the last 5 minutes against a team with 3 or 4 injured players, and an extra day's break? Can't wait for Malthouse's excuses.
  23. Agree with Fan here. People are harsh on Dermie based on little. He provides his take on football, like every other commentator out there, and if you actually listen to him and read his articles, he's not a complete buffoon like some here would make you think. Everything went right for Hawthorn last year. This year, things aren't going right, and their senior players aren't stepping up. They've had Franklin, Roughead, Mitchell, Dew, Hodge for the majority (if not all) of the season so far, yet have managed just 1 win.
  24. Read Martin Flanagan's article about McDonald. Couldn't find a mistake in this one... We're doing OK at the moment media-wise. Hopefully tomorrow's effort keeps the media positive.
