  1. Bartram - much better performance Bate - useless yet again Bennell - showed some glimpses Bruce - really poor kicking Davey - continues to impress Dunn - another crap performance Frawley - another good game Johnson - not that great Jones - he's been worse Maric - a huge disappointment McDonald - not our worst Martin - better down back McLean - far too slow Meesen - better than Johnson Miller - must do more Moloney - an average game Morton - a better performance Petterd - not a forward Rivers - his worst effort? Robertson - a good return Sylvia - not enough again Warnock - got beaten often Am I the only person who thought Warnock had a poor game? Mooney seemed to take a lot of marks and beat Warnock one on one a lot. Yes, the supply was good and plentiful, but I think Warnock's played a lot better this year than what he played yesterday. Completely agree. Bruce is rapidly declining IMO. Maric shouldn't play that bad again (let's hope). And Dunn, well, he just shouldn't be playing.
  2. His ideal position is half forward. But he is playing shockingly at the moment, is just not having any influence, and at times looks more like a liability to the team than a weapon. Must be in danger of being dropped this week.
  3. Like most have said, it's only his 6th game. He didn't look lost, he just rushed each and every one of his disposals. No doubt he put in an absoute shocker, but this is a classic knee-jerk reaction.
  4. I'd be happy with 1 win and no losses above 60.
  5. We might not get a choice, considering he's still got school commitments. Of course it would be better money-wise if he made his debut at a home game at the G, but I don't want us manipulating everything to make it happen if it would be much easier just to let him debut at a different ground.
  6. I would prefer Watts to debut when he's ready, not when we're ready. If that means he debuts in Round 16 at Geelong, then so be it.
  7. I wouldn't worry. West Coast will win a lot more than 4 games this year (well, maybe 7-9).
  8. McNamara looked good to me. Fast for someone his height. We'll be seeing him sooner rather than later I think. Agree mo. There was one passage in the last quarter when he took off from a stoppage in the middle with pace, and the others were flat on their feet. He's much fitter than most players at VFL level, and he works much harder too. I liked what I saw of Valenti today, and I haven't been that big a fan of him. For mine, the best of the Melbourne players were Whelan, Newton and Valenti. McNamara, Hughes and Cheney were also good. Wonnaeamirri did a lot of good things as a defensive forward, including some super tackles, but hardly got a possession. Hardly noticed Grimes all day. Forgot he was playing even. Didn't see a lot of Bail, but he looks alright when he gets it. Same as Bell (who also laid some good tackles). Jordie McKenzie is very slight, but did some good things.
  9. Good changes IMO. That was what most expected. Kyle Cheney is still pretty unlucky to not be playing, given his efforts in the first 2 matches. But he'll get another chance sooner or later.
  10. Davis to me is a little slower (not much) and a little stronger overhead. But swap Davis for Davey and there wouldn't be much of a difference at all.
  11. I feel the same way. I often go there just to read up and get a general idea on stuff I'm interested in. And most of the crap gets edited out pretty quickly, because, despite what some people would have you believe, there are a lot of people out there who try to make sure that Wikipedia is as accurate as possible. Yeah, can't reference Wikipedia in my uni course either. But that's not to say I don't use it as a starting guide if possible. It was a godsend when I was at school though.
  12. Miller won't get a kick if he gets Scarlett. I like the sound of Frawley on Chapman.
  13. Should be Johnson, Bennell, Morton, Jones. I wouldn't really mind if Cheney or Jetta got a game, but Newton must be dropped.
  14. Heard about this on The Footy Show last night via Hutchy. Devastating for Sam. They also talked to Green: he had 3 different fractures/breaks to his jaw. He said he wants to be back in 3-4 weeks.
  15. Good to see so many MFC players named in the seniors. Maybe we'll start to turn the tide against these injuries. The Coburg team might as well be called the Richmond 2nds.
  16. Good point. Even though Nathan Ablett was a decent player IMO. But the rest of them, well...
  17. I think you mean drivel... But the point is made.
  18. Buckley hasn't done nearly enough to be considered to be 'looking good' yet. Same can be said for Grimes and Valenti. Watts, Jurrah and Strauss haven't played yet, so how could they be looking good? The OP was talking about players we've seen this year who look to be improving and who we can have some hope in, so I think you missed the point. And don't get me started on Newton.
  19. Agree with number 2. I can't stand the 'get it our, get it out'. But, whilst I don't like them using nicknames, I would prefer them to call players by their real name, not by their number. I think an umpire has more of a chance of talking to a player if he can look at them and call them by their name. For some players I reckon the umpires would know their name, not their number, so it would be easier for them. But regardless, they shouldn't be calling Franklin 'Buddy', or Fevola 'Fev'.
  20. Yeah I'm a bit surprised that we haven't gotten there yet.
  21. This is very true. The best ruckman he's faced so far is Mark Blake... In fact, the same argument can be made for the entire team. Geelong aside, they've still got the better teams of the AFL awaiting.
  22. I usually don't like what comes out of Kennett's mouth but I agree with what he's saying here. And good on him for standing up to the AFL. I think I heard the AFL this morning say that Jeff was being sent to be 're-educated'. Whatever that means.
  23. Miller imposes himself on the contest. He runs fifty times harder than Newton. He puts his body on the line. Newton is weak, does not impose himself on contests, gives up some chases, and doesn't run out 4 quarters. Agreed. It might be in your book, but it's not in mine. Especially considering how little else he does. For someone like Newton to be in the team, if he isn't to do anything of note when he doesn't have the ball, I'd be expecting many more shots on goal, and many more goals. As it stands, he needs to either up the goal/shots on goal tally considerably, or start to play proper defensive football when we don't have posession. That's exactly right. He's had plenty of time to stew over his problems at VFL level. And he's had plenty of chances, upon returning to Melbourne, to take command of a game and show that he's got what it takes. It still hasn't happened.
