  1. What about me.... Seriously, though, this is a long injury list. A lot of those listed as 'test' will need to come up in order for us to put a team on the park that will win this weekend.
  2. Hard to call, considering the injuries. I don't really know who's fit and who's not. Jurrah and Watts should be playing if they're fit. Rivers too. I'd like to see Whelan get his 150 games, so if he's fit he comes in too. McLean may be fit as well. Robertson will get a send-off game, you'd think, and it could be this one. As for outs, all of Johnson, Newton and Miller deserve to go. We're playing to win, and that means we don't play these 3 hacks. However, I understand that they represent a lot of height, and that we have a lot of injuries. Still, if all the above players are ready to go, all 3 of them should be dropped. Bail and Bruce are under injury clouds. Bail I suspect won't play, Bruce I don't know. If we have to drop someone else, it might be Bartram, who didn't seem to do anything good on the weekend. So it could be: In: Jurrah, Watts, Rivers, Whelan, McLean Out: Newton, PJ, Miller, Bail, Bruce
  3. Bub is right. We should go for the win in the remaining 3 matches. If Fremantle plays like they did v Port, the win is nowhere near certain. But the chances of Fremantle bringing their Subiaco game to Melbourne aren't high, and we aren't likely to apply ourselves as pathetically as Port did. Still, this could well be a loss, and we shouldn't just assume we will win this week. We aren't good enough to beat either of Carlton or St Kilda, so there's no need to tank against them. Hence we should play to win.
  4. McNamara looks like the kind of player Bailey would love. Seems to me to have the ability/mobility/size to play forward and back, and could possibly play on a wing too. I really like the kid.
  5. That's not really the point. I was referring to St Kilda's unknown players' abilities to stand up and deliver when the stars were out. Players like Armitage, Ray, Jones, who weren't top draft picks. But St Kilda does make a good case study for us pro-tankers to refer to.
  6. Too late again, but this is how I would have voted: 6 - Bate 5 - Valenti 4 - Jones 3 - McNamara 2 - Petterd 1 - Frawley McNamara's kicking makes him an automatic selection for the rest of the year.
  7. Goal to Martin. Nice kick. Better than Miller. Harford praising Martin whilst simultaneously bagging Miller. I like it.
  8. 9 possessions, most of anyone. KB loves him. Miller misses. 2.3.15 to 4.1.25
  9. Davey just misses. Apparently spent a long time on the bench... Spencer seems to be doing well in the ruck.
  10. CB will be happy with Valenti's effort so far. Goal to Goldstein.
  11. Reports that Bail has a thigh injury
  12. Goal to Newton 2.1.13 to 3.0.18 Edit: Wakelin thinks Newton 'has all the tricks...is generally a good kick...Bailey has a real talent on his hands'
  13. Bail groggy, not entirely with it. Off again.
  14. Petterd seems to be playing back on Corey Jones...
  15. Bail back on, might have had a head knock but seems to be better now.
  16. Goal to Harvey, then Jones replies straight away. 1.1.7 to 1.0.6 Yes, but we don't want to see young players getting injuries, do we?
  17. Bail has come off straight away and is straight down the race. Not good...
  18. I was going to say the same thing, but I've just turned SEN on, and Matt Granland's calling today! Nice surprise.
  19. Yes, confirmed here: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...38/default.aspx Both disappointing (because Rivers misses and because PJ gets another game), and good (because it makes it even easier for North to win, and maybe because, with Spencer and PJ, Martin could play most of the day up forward). No change to the Roos.
  20. Someone out there is purposely bringing old threads forward, either to make a point or just to [censored] everyone off. Or both.
  21. Yeah, wtf? Who goes looking for threads that are more than 3 years old? Snakey moses must really have something against YM.
  22. This strategy has the problem of rewarding currently successful teams over currently crap teams by placing unfair weight on previous years. For example, there might be a time when a team finishes, over three years, bottom 4, then 9-12, then plays a prelim or even a GF. Yet this team would be getting a top 10 pick. Similarly, you could have a team that plays finals one year, then misses finals, then bottoms out, but they end up with a pick behind some of the presently better teams. I think what all this talk shows is that there really isn't a drafting system that is going to solve everyone's problems.
  23. I guess I've been on rpfc's side of the argument, but what Rogue and 45hg are saying makes sense too. Sometimes drafting is a bit of a gamble, and we mucked up picking Dunn. Getting pick 15 for Jolly, as a stand-alone fact, is a success. But we failed when we used pick 15 to select Dunn.
  24. St Kilda was amazing. Have a look at their B&F this year. Wouldn't surprise me if 6 of the 7 they were missing yesterday turned out to be top 10 (Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Hayes, Montagna, Goddard, Fisher). Hawthorn doesn't deserve finals if it can't beat a second rate St Kilda. As for West Coast, I believe they were burdened by the lure of the PP. Once they made the decision to win games, they have turned it up a notch, and have shown that they are clearly better than bottom 4. Josh Kennedy and Mark LeCras are stars in the making.
  25. Yeah he's on holiday, spending some time away from it all. I think they've sent a part of his lung to the US to be tested. I've heard some unfortunate reports that his prognosis is quite negative. Hopefully they work out what's wrong and set about rectifying it as soon as possible.
