  1. Turns 26 next year. How many more years can his body hold out for? I don't believe he is good enough, or will give this club enough, to warrant using Pick 18. There's also the matter of him not wanting to be here, but even that aside, I still don't think his return will be enough to make using 18 worthwhile.
  2. Last one's a moot point. He will definitely not be available at 34. I'm happy to keep discussing it with you. As the poll stands you're down 5-1.
  3. By the end of 2011 he will have had 4 seasons at the club and will be 21. I was suggesting that, by then, if he hasn't improved he might be a candidate for delisting. Of course he could improve within 2 years to the point that he cracks back into the side. But from what I've seen of him I'm not sure yet that he will end up good enough to stay on the list. FWIW, when you were discussing possible 2011 delistings, you put forward Bail. I was simply saying that, come the end of 2011, Maric will need to have improved from where he is at now, else there's a good chance he won't last. Exactly what you've said about Bail. Trying to work out who will be cut from the list 24 months from now is not exactly a science. I'd love for Maric to stick it up me.
  4. Read in the HUN today that Fitzroy is hoping to get the support of 1000 Lions members which is necessary to call an EGM. Apparently there was a clause in the merger contract which said that the Fitzroy lion was to be used on the jumper perpetually. This would seem a breach of that clause. Fitzroy is threatening a Supreme Court injuction. This could make for good off-season entertainment.
  5. Horrible logo. Putting on the jumper is embarrassing. There was nothing wrong with the old lion. Only the Adelaide logo rivals this one for crapiness.
  6. Judd was traded. Completely different to Ball. Judd told West Coast where he wanted to go, West Coast then knew that Carlton would basically do anything other than trade Pick 1 to get him. West Coast named their price, Carlton paid it. No problems there.
  7. I can't see us taking 3 recycled players. Maybe 2, if we want Ball. But if we want MacDonald, that will be PSD. By best available people mean taking the best of the remaining players as opposed to taking a player based on their position. For example, some people think we should take a key position forward at Pick 11 no matter what. That's not taking the best available, it's filling a gap in the list. There might be a better player, who happens to be a midfielder, or defender.
  8. McPhee not leaving Essendon means nothing atm. If he leaves, he will go PSD to ensure he gets to Fremantle. Today's list lodgement was for the list prior to the ND. McPhee (and those like him) have until December 2 to nominate for the PSD. Which means, if he still wants to, he can leave Essendon sometime over the next 3 weeks and go to Fremantle. If he chooses to do this, and makes his decison before the ND, Essendon may well consider taking Ball at 10. That would be stupid IMO, but they might nonetheless. Ball will not get to your mob.
  9. I have a feeling he won't. Perhaps I need some hope.
  10. This I like. The club's doing the right thing by Jurrah, who has made a massive decision to move here to play AFL. Going to Yuendumu and showing that we care about his heritage and culture is a good thing. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/jim-...f-1225797100385 Edit: Should have posted this in the Is Jurrah a Star thread. Sorry.
  11. What makes you think the FD would re-draft Valenti? We had spots on our list. If they thought he was worthy of one they would have elevated him.
  12. Is it just me or are you whistling a different tune to what you were a few weeks ago? I thought I remembered you saying just the opposite. FWIW I don't think he's worth Pick 18, whether he wants us or not. The fact that he (seemingly) doesn't want to play for us just enhances that idea.
  13. Ball at North would replace the hole vacated by Adam Simpson I would have thought. A tough leader in the midfield. Would fit in nicely.
  14. I can't believe people are actually interested in Kane Tenace. Kane Tenace... Come on, now. Tenace was on their list before they became a powerhouse, and he failed to do anything of note then either.
  15. What your Preliminary Final told me (and all non-Collingwood supporters) is that you're a long way off. You were so bad it was funny. Your window could close next year.
  16. This may raise some eyebrows, but in terms of delistings in 2011 (or possibly even 2010): Maric? Needs to really step up over the next two years, otherwise his spot will be taken by someone else (e.g. Jetta, Wonnaeamirri).
  17. Jones? Moloney? McDonald? McLean wasn't providing us with superb midfield clearance work anyway. It's not like we've lost a Judd or a Selwood. And what if they do? Would you then say you don't want him? Just because it's not public doesn't mean it's not true. If he doesn't want to play with us, I don't want to waste a top 20 draft pick on him.
  18. North Melbourne and Essendon both have 2 picks in the low 20s. Both I think will consider him. Brisbane have also said they will take him if they can (meaning he's very unlikely to get past 27).
  19. Ball won't get to 30.
  20. Dunn's second half of 2009 was definitely an improvement on his career. But to call it 'nothing short of outstanding' is a bit rich. It was good. I'm yet to see any proof of Dunn being contracted till 2011. If he is then good for him, but that's poor list management. 2 years based on about 15 decent games, the majority of which came in the second half of this year, is not smart. He's not in our best 22, unlikely to be playing Round 1, and if he has a bad year next year, we have another Newton/Bell/Johnson situation on our hands. Newton and Meesen are on the rookie list (if they remain at Melbourne at all). So they don't count. McDonald I didn't mention, but he, Bell and PJ give us 3 picks next year. If we want more we then would look to Miller and Dunn.
  21. Not sure what the age cap is, but Newton's 22 (turns 23 in April) and Meesen's 23 (turns 24 in June). I thought the 'mature' age was up to 23, which would make just Meesen mature. Then Newton wouldn't be.
  22. Shannon Cox from Collingwood retired.
  23. 1. Scully 2. Trengove 11. Carlisle 18. Vardy 34. Weedon 50. Grimes PSD: Thorp I really have no idea.
  24. A bit going on in cricket at the moment. 1) There's a possibility that the 2011 Ashes Test could be moved from the SCG to ANZ Stadium. Bigger crowds and more money is a factor: http://www.cricinfo.com/australia/content/...ory/434042.html Would be sad IMO if Test cricket was moved from the SCG. ODI and Twenty20 would be good at ANZ though. 2) Wash out in Mumbai last night (which is a bit sad in that it was to be the first cricket in Mumbai since the terrorist attacks last year). Watson named man of the series (not Hussey?) 3) There's still a lot of talk about replacing Hussey with Hughes, and batting Watson at 5 or 6. It's going to be a tough decision. Lee/Clark vs Hilfenhaus and Hauritz vs Krejza are also being considered by CA.
