  1. Plus their backline is sensational. We're having a crack but can't find a way past... yet.
  2. Just out of curiosity, I assume you were there today to see this piece of play?
  3. Neil Balme? Didn't realise Scott Thompson was playing in the mid 90's.... I think you might mean Neale Daniher...
  4. I was under that impression too, and if I remember correctly we traded him really early on and got it done and out of the way. Happy to stand corrected though.
  5. I'd be happy if we got one of Brayshaw/Petracca, Stretch and an established midfielder with some experience under their belt that could help our midfield immediately, giving further support and allowing those younger types a little more time to develop than being thrown into the deep end, something Roos has said he doesn't like doing. If we could do THAT, then we would be seriously going places.
  6. That was never going to happen. He played a few good games but he was never going to make it. We should have cashed him in last year as he won't be worth much now.
  7. I reckon there's plenty of truth in this. I don't think they'll let someone like a Carlisle leave for anything less than a first rounder, but then outside of a few players there isn't anyone on their list who really excites me much. Watson is off limits, Goddard and Zaharakis won't be part of the drug scandal and will therefore not be up for trade, Joe Daniher isn't going anywhere etc. Myers doesn't do much for me either and I wouldn't be comfortable giving up a first or second rounder for him which is the what the Bombers will be looking for. I'm still not convinced we will be able to land a big fish during this off season as I don't think there is much that is legitimately up for grabs.
  8. I take it that Tapscott is the 23rd man and heading to Darwin as he hasn't been named in the Casey side. Could be a late change coming.
  9. He certainly was, as we finally had a target in our half of the ground to who could lead, take a mark and kick a few goals.
  10. I have no doubt about that, and I think as supporters we are well within our rights to be extremely disappointed in the way a leader of our club has handled his contract situation. But there are some who take that criticism way too far and they are too quick to forget what a terrific player Chip can be for the club.
  11. Super stuff Mr. Positivity. A young bloke, who is a huge part of our future, signs a new deal and there are still some who have to bring the tone down.
  12. Even if he wasn't worth it the deal finishes in 3 years time. It's not as if he is on 1 mill a year for the next 5 years. It's a fair deal, reflective of his potential and the FA market. We need to get used to that.
  13. Fair enough, if he is keen to come home and we can get the right deal done then that's more than fine by me. Would slot rather nicely into our midfield. If you ever come across said article, or someone else done, I'd love a look at it!
  14. Not saying you are incorrect, but do you have an article etc to back that claim? Edit - Would be more than happy for him to come home, just haven't heard that he is that keen to do so.
  15. Absolutely sensational news, and further proof that the tide at the club is slowly changing for the better. Tommy Mac is next...
  16. I would do it in a heart beat as well, but I'm just not convinced at this stage that there are midfielders available that will warrant a pick at the top end of the draft. I'm worried that GWS, unless a player is desperate to come back to Vic, will be interested in yet more picks when it's clear they need more experience rather than youth. Outside of their plethora of mids I'm not sure who we will target and just who is actually available for the price we can pay.
  17. The only flaw in the argument is whether or not we can lure another big fish that would improve, for example, our midfield. Do GWS, for example, want more high picks or are they now looking to lure players to help their development? It's all fine and good to land a compo pick for Frawley and dream of who we might get, but the fact is that there isn't a whole lot out there on the market (that we know of) and we may not get the players we want.
  18. Maybe not, but in the current FA climate that's the money we need to spend to make sure we hold other clubs at bay.
  19. Very valid point. He has his flaws, yes, but if anyone is going to get the best out of him then it's Roos.
  20. Cheers mate. Sensational news if it's confirmed!
  21. Twitter, FB, website, radio, paper source?
  22. I wouldn't be against Bolton in the slightest and I think spending some time under Roos, coupled with his extensive experience already, would make him an ideal candidate for the job. Worth a serious look if he's interested.
  23. That's true, although it can also be attributed to a new game plan and a more accountable and hard working midfield. He played down there well (yes, outside of the last quarter) and smashed Liam Jones last week. But your last statement does hold some weight. His absence hasn't hurt us as such, although his presence in the forward half has certainly been very, very handy.
  24. The Toumpas haters will be out in force again, but the kid needs time. We don't need him in the seniors at the minute and they can work on the areas of improvement in the magoos. Not too worried about the young fella. Based on the above I'm hopeful of JKH and Tappy getting a run in the seniors. I'm impressed that Tappy has worked hard to impress and improve his game and, hopefully, he is rewarded for that.
